Hello, thank you for joining us, and welcome to Aefenglom! The Intro Log will be going on later today at 3PM EST; keep an eye out for it! For now though, it's time to mingle and make friends, grab some CR, and get hopping! Usually we try to have quests out at the same time as acceptances, but the post itself will be updated tomorrow or the day after at latest -- we'll keep you in the know,

To help get this all started, we've got a nifty form for new players to fill out! Our CR/Plotting post will come a bit later, once we've got all the details for this month's event set up. Feel free to keep this either to one comment, or to split it in two - it's your choice.

Appearance: Without her powers of glamour, Gwen's skin has a pearlescent quality in texture and refracting light (similar in appearance to this), and her teeth draw to fine, sharp points; there is a very slight blue hue to her dark hair, and her eyes are larger than is normal with blue-black in place of white and prism-like, starry slit pupils that dilate under stress or excitement (or in the dark), her features as a whole seeming slightly exaggerated. She's 5'3", petite athletic build, and her hair has a natural curl when she hasn't ruthlessly styled it into submission.
Brief: Gwen is simultaneously a Posh Girl (TM), the kind of rich where sometimes she travels without a passport and it's nbd, and downright fucking feral. She's intelligent, charismatic, rude, awkward, and alienatingly damaged. She self-identifies as a real cunt, and is true chaotic neutral, a non-violent sociopath who approaches life with a big picture pragmatism and minute-to-minute lack of impulse control. She's only gets less charming the more you get to know her, but she's the ride or die friend you call at 3AM because not only will she help you bury the body, she probably Knows A Guy, You Know.

Gwen thrives when she has close CR to invest in, so I'll be angling for that, but for some strange reason there's often friction between her and other people (mysterious) and I'm down to play out negative CR and generally deal with the consequences of Gwen opening her mouth, saying stuff.

I'm less sure on how she might get along with him given his usual bluster and temper at the best of times, though he has mellowed some. He's a martial artist/student back home and loves to fight, basically. He's the literal Cat of the zodiac back home under his family curse and is -- yup, also a Turnskin here to continue the cat puns/jokes. They might at least get alone on the impulsive part though.

Emil tries... very hard... most of the time, but he's insecure underneath the "dad said i'm always right" attitude he was raised to have and he only has one friend, so tact is Difficult for him. he's a whiner!! if new things are difficult he prefers to give up!! this is why he'll make a GREAT witch, for sure!!! he's kind of annoying but he's very earnest and if you can get past his attitude and rampant insecurity, he's a sweet boy. he will share food with you.

also, highly important: he thinks Jurassic Park was a real place because he's from post-apocalyptic Sweden and "old world" things are basically lost relics like record players and movies... you can convince him of more or less anything because he doesn't want to look stupid, ironically enough. do this relentlessly.

Appearance: Here is his official manga art - it doesn't really show much in the anime icons, but he has a black streak in his hair (because it was removed for Animation Purposes) and has bright heterochromic eyes in a beautiful purple/yellow shade. It's like the sunset, y'all. He's pretty lean, but he's been slowly gaining muscle and is also 170cm (5'6").
Brief: Atsushi is an orphan who's been through a hellish life, which is why he tends to value life a lot and even wants to help others! Although helping others isn't exactly out of selflessness, here. Also back home, his ability allows him to turn into the tiger but he doesn't have that here, although he can and will use that knowledge. Also as a heads up: his background does have mentions of cw: abuse, murder, gore and suicide -- I won't bring it up without explicit permission, but if you want to outright opt out of that, I have a post here for it! He's also rather kind but can be prone to violence if triggered. All in all, he's just Trying His Best. Also, Atsushi is from chapter 70, which is a more recent chapter, so if you want to avoid spoilers, feel free to let me know as well!
Seeking/Offering: I'm definitely looking for 1) characters who can help him with his combat skills; he's still learning, after all and 2) bonds with monsters especially ones that have not been bonded yet, because he seeks to Help out others. Brief: Sole survivor of not one, but TWO huge disasters that have let her more than a little traumatized. A very kind, gentle girl who's easy to bully; she rarely tells someone no. Repressed memories of her childhood until at 19 she was forced to go back through and relive the moments as an adult to piece her broken mind back together. She's shy and polite but has difficulties forming connections with people due to her past.

I'm down for keeping TDM stuff canon if people want! Just let me know, otherwise I'm going to assume their not canon by default.

also a Content Warning: Jennifer's canon deals heavily with themes of murder, child abuse, bullying, pedophilia/sexual abuse of minors, animal abuse/death/killing, suicide, and a lot about romantic and sexual themes revolving around young girls (with each other). These won't be sprung up without warning and Jennifer herself most likely won't mention it unless prompted enough, but it's something to keep in mind.

The things that probably will be frequently mentioned, at least in the brackets/introspection parts of tags, are: animal abuse, murder, and bullying.

Seeking/Offering: I mean she just arrived so... I hate saying the "ANYTHING GOES" response bc it's so generic but really... Jennifer has a hard time believing that friendships will last. She's unfailingly polite, but sort of...distant? She believes that she should certainly enjoy the friendships while they happen, but she's resigned to the inevitable (in her mind) idea that something about her is inherently unlikeable that people find out about, dislike immensely, and it turns them on her. So she thinks every friendship is going to end in disaster or her being bullied. Pls prove her wrong.

That said also pls I encourage people to be mean to her or bully her! If your character wants a servant-type or someone to push around, make do their homework, etc. etc. Jen is your girl.

She almost never exposes any skin aside from her face, favors red clothes, and usually has a horned crown on her head. That may change if someone says it's dumb.
Brief: Edelgard is one of the Lords in 3 Houses, the leader of the Black Eagle house during the school phase and the Emperor of the Adrestian Empire during the timeskip phase. She is a well spoken, well mannered, and driven by a single-minded determination to change the world. She not the most sociable person, as she's had very little opportunity to live anything resembling a normal life, but she is kind and earnest when she's able to find people she can open up to. She's an innately private person, but she's willing to try to befriend the people around her. She can be dismissive and cold, particularly with those who vociferously argue with her about strongly held beliefs. My journal has her app if you want to know more spoiler-y things. A bit crass unless he's measured the situation and decides that behaving a certain way is necessary for a beneficial outcome. Will hop on your plans and dominate them to his advantage. Will side-eye you for at least a month after meeting. Will absolutely make everything as horrible as it can possibly be due to his own paranoia and complete unwillingness to just roll with a situation. Godspeed! (Oh, and he's British despite both the anime and manga ignoring this when it comes to his dialogue. I do not.)

Seeking/Offering: Given the information provided above: anything! I definitely want him to form bonds with two (2) witches and one (1) monster because in his mind, that will be balance. If you've met Four, you miiiiight understand why she might want to go on a sister murdering spree. But it's a bit more complicated than that. Zero's a blunt force of nature. Her strength is brutish and her attitude rather fierce. Beyond her foul mouth she also has a habit of casually making things lewd. She doesn't hoard her sister's men for nothing after all. Since she can be a Lot, I have an opt-out post over here for anyone who doesn't want to deal with any particulars of her character (or any part of her), in all 100% fairness.
Seeking/Offering: Zero is prone to making enemies, so first and foremost anyone who wants to fight with her-- bring it on, I welcome terrible CR. But hey, she's dead so you might have a chance at unlocking some of her less disasterific aspects!

Brief: A dark knight WoL OC who is finally coming off of some anger and self-hatred issues, enjoys crafting, and has a definite smart mouth on her. She's rough and spontaneous and deliberately likes to play devil's advocate; she is great at acting on impulse and not so great at formulating plans or being patient. Voted Eorzea's Next Top Fetch Girl by virtue of being WoL. Possibly harboring a smarmy split entity named Fray inside her head?? Despite all of that, would probably drop everything and give you the shirt off her back if you really needed it.

Seeking/Offering: I'm mostly interested in throwing two characters together and seeing where it goes, for better or for worse. WoL though she may be, Irhya is still pretty rough around the edges and often very crude in her wording, so it's entirely possible she'll rub someone the wrong way at some point. An overall cute and nice guy, a bit shy but with strong beliefs, who always seeks to do the right thing and help people when he can.

And he's also coming here with Kivat, a rude and flirty bat who looks like a toy because he's his belt that helps him transform into a Kamen Rider. Since it can't happen here, he serves as his familiar.

Finally, he's a witch, thus a weak noodle but not without learning some good magic in exchange for his lack of physical strength.

Emet-Selch's a bit of an odd duck. Ruthless, sarcastic, irritable- and absolutely devoted to the few things he cares about. He just gives no fucks about anything else. None. Not a single one. He's extremely old and extremely tired and is going to be extremely put out at being completely removed from the one thing that matters to him. He can be relatively pleasant if he has to be, and also has a flair for the theatrical.

Oh, he also used to be emperor (probably more than once, though it's just his most recent endeavor we know about) of an extremely militaristic, expansionist country.

· People who don't know who he is, but who can appreciate a good pragmatist. Other conspirators with a focus of finding a way home over helping the world. Useful tools allies who can share information without being too bothersome.
· People who do know who he is, since this place is bound to influence their dynamics somewhat. He's also coming from before endgame, so he doesn't know how everything ended up!
· Anything doing or relating to magic learning, since while he'll probably stubbornly attempt to do everything on his own, help is bound to make things easier in the long run.

· ...uh, complicated CR is the best way I know to put it. Emet-Selch is not the most pleasant person, or easy to know, but there's a lot to unpack there that could be interesting(?) to develop with people
· he's pretty tall, he could probably get things off of tall shelves no problem

Not sure if this counts as offering anything, or just information, but Emet-Selch Bonding with anyone is probably going to be a difficult thing, considering that he just doesn't. Care. About anyone that's not from his past. Yet he'll want to develop his magic as much as possible, so Bonding would be a necessity! So finding people with the right sort of dynamic would be interesting to play out, I think.

Brief: She's Calamity Jane, and she is a calamity. Jane is an experienced frontiersman and scout from the late-19th century U.S. (it's 1876 for her at this point); she's also a hyperdefensive, ornery, foul-mouthed, low-functioning alcoholic. Between being a drunk and being a decidedly masculine woman in a time not exactly open to that, she sees herself as a social reject and expects others to regard her as such. Despite her brashness, though, she has a caring center and is a natural caregiver/healer, having just finished a stint tending smallpox victims in her camp back home. Oh, and she's coming in during the middle of an extended bender out in the wilderness, after her best friend in the world was murdered.

Also: She's so foul-mouthed that, out of an abundance of caution, I actually have an opt-out post for her, re: that, so maybe take a look!

Seeking/Offering: Jane is a disaster and needs both fellow disasters to disaster around with and probably also people to keep her from just straight-up dying. She is, fair warning, generally hostile to new faces and is likely to stay on the wrong foot with someone once she gets off on it. So, in that vein, some fun stuff might include:

• Negative CR is both inevitable and welcome, with an option for growth towards incredibly grumpy friendship.
• She also needs drinking buddies and fellow wastrels to associate with, though fair warning that she's more the "slowly killing herself" kind of drunk than the fun kind.
• Other fun CR possibilities include: high-society types (who she'll be uncomfortable just breathing around), younger characters (who are the only ones generally exempt from Jane's default suspicion/hostility), well-intentioned meddlers (who she will not appreciate at all), and/or anyone who can actually drag her to/convince her to attend Witch lessons.
• Also in that vein, some form of roommate would be good, because if she doesn't have a stable living situation she will literally just end up sleeping in the gutter most nights. (And will probably do that a lot anyway, so...enjoy that, future roomies.)

He loves the fineries in life, such as wine and fighting. Back home he used to have this ability to manipulate the gravity of anything he touched and also has ties to a crazy ancient old god but HEY. Not like he's gonna talk about that here. Chuuya can be a little snarky, arrogant and easily irritable when it comes to a certain person but is generally a good guy overall!
Seeking/Offering: Honestly? I wouldn't mind if Chuuya ended up making some actual friends here because his life used to just be about his work, but I also wouldn't be against the idea of having him get some drinking buddies or people to fight because he is going to be mad restless. He's gonna be a Harpy so having other people/harpies to help him deal with that would be A+++ and very much loved.
