Hey there everyone! Because of the level of interest and conversation happening with Aefenglom, we decided that we would offer an opportunity: Are you on the fence about a character, or having trouble choosing between Witch or Monsters? Want to see if there's anyone considering a castmate? You could even find out if you can enable someone into being one! This is similar to an EMP/ATP meme, in theory, although has the interesting note of being before game start. Not sure how you got here? Have no fear! Aefenglom is a sex-friendly, panfandom fantasy game, set in the post-apocalyptic world of Geargadas. Character choices can affect overarching plot, and the characters' ultimate goal will be to help rebalance the world by stopping the growth of the Cwyld, a magical blight infecting both the land and inhabitants living in places left unprotected. There are many things to learn about the world and how it came to be along the way that will help in discovering both the cause of the Cwyld and how to get home. Tell Us More: Officer with the London Met's Magic Division and apprentice wizard. Incredible nerd, though he tries to hide it with mixed results. Considers Sam Vimes the patron saint of policemen. Major tendency to go off on tangents about whatever he happens to find interesting. Tends to clamp down on any actual emotions with a heavy dose of snark.
Choice: Witch, maybe? Or something else? Decisions are hard.
Basic Plans: New types of magic to nerd out about? I hope everyone likes experimentation.

Tell Us More: Incredibly kind, incredibly chill, often incredibly creepy pastel goth Grave Domain Cleric. Makes tea out of dead people, calls a swarm of flesh-eating beetles his children and very good at hugs. Big on natural order and fate.
Choice: He's already pretty nonhuman looking, so I can't decide if it would be funnier to make him a witch or some other kind of monster.
Basic Plans: Absolutely no idea! But everyone needs some chill in their lives.

Tell Us More: a cat girl with a bit of an inferiority complex who compensates by committing herself to being a chaotic jerk who likes being mean. her and her ex-girlfriend best friend are fighting on opposite sides of a war, which to Catra feels like the ultimate betrayal. but she's convincing herself she's better off without her so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
also the type of gal who'd knock things off high places for the fun of it because she is.......a cat.
Choice: a witch because she'd hate it
Basic Plans: ideally i want to app her after season 2 airs (April 26th) because Catra as a character will definitely be expanded upon by then. but my plans for her here would be adjusting to this newfound magical ability she finds in this world, dealing with the fact that being a witch will feel VERY reminiscent of what Shadow Weaver (her evil mentor/evil mother figure) is, and will.......be a very delinquent kind of witch because of it and also because that's just her nature.
i'm also interested in playing out how Catra will deal with not being in the Horde and having to start out from essentially the bottom again, but without Adora's shadow over her.

Possibly Apping: Chiaki Morisawa from Ensemble Stars!
Tell Us More: He was Clark Kent, now he's Superman! Chiaki is the EXTREMELY energetic leader of Ryuseitai, and an idol! He loves sentai (ask about his catchphrase) and is described by most who know him as "annoyingly enthusiastic" and "loud" and "clumsy". He is also afraid of ghosts and one time he ran into a cafe full of girls, they all stared at him because he's handsome, and he panicked and ran out.

Basic Plans: I'm gonna try to dive into plot, because Chiaki is a shonen hero in his heart and soul. Forming lots of bonds. I want to make cr with every single hero character humanly possible and adopt everyone I possibly can into my loving ryusei red arms.

Possibly Apping: Newt Scamander (Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts)
Tell Us More: Newt is a magizoologist from the 1920s who works with the Ministry of Magic. He is basically the authority on everything magizoology and had a hand in assisting with the capture and defeat of Grindelwald, a powerful dark wizard preceding Voldemort. He pretty much got thrown into the fray against his will/wishes because he really would just prefer a nice simple life with his creatures.

He's kind of an awkward guy who prefers the company of creatures more than people. His special ability is not really making eye contact with anyone, honestly.

Choice: Witch
Basic Plans: Newt will probably slam head first into picking up magic. It's basically shown that wizards and witches from the Wizarding World use magic for just about anything and magic being a natural part of themselves, so the loss of having it for his everyday will probably be really frustrating for the man. He'll definitely be sitting down with the books and everything to harness the magic available of this world if more for his peace of mind than anything.

I'll probably also have him try in participate in the plot. Newt is usually a more neutral party, but with the end of the second movie, is kind of forced into a more active role of some sort. He'll probably be a bit more proactive because of it.

Anything Else: Please make friends with him. Also looking for people into that Slow Burn hell because Newt is the type of character who requires it.

Also, undecided on what animals to bring. Picket the Bowtruckle and the Zouwu are I think two of my three, but deciding a third creature to bring along!

I would love for Lux to have CR with wizards who are genuinely good people, since that's the complete opposite narrative that she's been given back home? Does she believe it? Not a bit, but having that reinforcement would be good.

Also I think she would just enjoy his company in general. Passionate nerds gotta stick together!

Possibly Apping: Chise Hatori
Tell Us More: A young woman who has had a very difficult life. Chise is what is called a Sleigh Beggy, a human with a natural affinity (and overabundance of) magic. As a result of this, she's a supernatural magnet, and is highly coveted because of that. Most Sleigh Beggies end up dying at a young age—their gift ends up being their undoing. After being plucked from a very bad situation, she is slowly gaining confidence in herself. It's a process.
Choice: I'm really torn here. She's a mage in-setting, so making her a witch would make sense. She even has experience with familiars! But what if harpy, because all that avian imagery.
Basic Plans: BIG SHRUG, I plan on throwing her into the game and seeing how she grows. She won't have Elias or Ruth around, so the first few months might be rough. She's also no stranger to the darker parts of life, so that will help at least.
Anything Else: Team Witch or Team Monster, someone help me pick. Also, Chise is one of two characters I'm deciding on for a second character. My other choice is...

Possibly Apping: Zidane Tribal
Tell Us More: A seemingly carefree, laid back monkey boy who was almost the angel of death. Seriously, he came real close. Instead, he gets adopted at an early age by the head of a theater troupe and learns how to people... perhaps a little too well. This little shit is way too charismatic for his own good.
Choice: I've got so many options here, but def sticking in the monster camp. Right now I'm looking at either turnskin, puca or chimera, in that order.
Basic Plans: I'm tossing him in without much of a plan because that's how he rolls. He'll probably bond with at least one girl cause he's a ho, but he will protect and spoil every one of them. I would also love to get him involved in the entertainment industry in some way, since that comes naturally to him.
Anything Else: As I've said with Chise, it's between these two, and that's only if I feel like I can handle two characters.

Tell Us More: A long-time demon hunter, reformed revenge killer, she's got a decent bit of baggage and a habit of keeping most people as far away as possible to both keep them safe and herself. She's bossy, snarky, has a soft spot for red-clad idiots with hearts of gold. Trust issues galore. You know just the standard solitary lifestyle nonsense.
Choice: Witch a million times over.
Basic Plans: Getting her to trust her bonds, find a balance between her baggage and her new life, participate in any quests outside of the city because she can't stand sitting on her hands, find a way home. You know the standard.
Anything Else: I would kill for other DMCs but really I would just really love for her to have some people that she can adopt and claim as her makeshift family since that's what most of her relationships in canon have boiled down to. She needs those relationships they help ground her.

Possibly Apping: Societte from Granblue Fantasy.
Tell Us More: Societte comes from generations of the Nine Tails power, searching the skies and anywhere she can for the truth and take a hold of said power. She's very quiet, soft spoken and shy that at first she was easily defeated in being ignored for being too quiet. She's an incredible dancer and a hardworker! also look how cute she is. She's an Erune with fox-like ears and a tail to boot.
Choice: Witch. though the monster option sounds very fun, i like the idea of her being a Witch more! she already has some furry appendages of her own. more power to the furry witches! /flex
Basic Plans: Stepping out of her comfort zone to be able to bond, getting to trusting them shouldn't take long but mostly I'm looking forward to introducing her to a new kinda world and meeting new people! She'll probably be away from whomever she's comfortable around from back home so it'll be a challenge!

Possibly Apping: Princess Zelda from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Tell Us More: Local princess attempts to preempt the bad guy's evil plots and accidentally ends up making everything worse. Decided to become an androgynous ninja bard in the aftermath. She's a good girl trying her best, though she's carrying So Much Baggage on top of not really... interacting much with other people since she was a kid, so she ends up closing herself off from others more than she might need to. Also when she makes bad decisions they tend to be explosively bad decisions, so.
Choice: Witch is the most fitting choice, though harpy is very tempting.
Basic Plans: Zelda is absolutely the type that will throw herself into learning how the magic of this new place works (after plenty of time being frustrated that it doesn't work like her home magic works at all AUGHHH), just as she is also the type that will put off Bonding with anyone for as long as possible because people are scary and physical contact is weird. She's basically guaranteed to have her magic blow up in her face eventually, whoops.
Anything Else: god i really shouldn't be thinking about apping anyone anywhere right now BUT THIS CONCEPT IS SO COOL

Tell Us More: A hero from Celtic mythology summoned as a Servant. Long story short, he's blessed/cursed with a lovespot/mole on his cheek that makes women fall hopelessly in love with him which, in his past life, eventually screwed him over hardcore and ended with him getting gored by a boar. He's a Good Boy, just really unlucky and eager to please but if I take him from the end of F/Z, he'll be really pissed too.
Choice: Witch, probably, but Merrow could be interesting too in the sense of "your instant attraction magic is gone but this world is totally judging you by making you a siren-like monster anyway". I'm still brainstorming ideas, though, so suggestions are welcome!
Basic Plans: Oh man, it'll be really unsettling for him to not have a Master or lord to serve- Diarmuid takes oaths and contracts very seriously and like nine times out of ten they end badly for him so it'll be really interesting to see how that whole bond thing works out for him. On the plus side, not having to kill everyone and having that whole charm magic thing out of the picture could be really liberating. Honestly, I want him to be miserable and happy in equal parts.

Basic Plans: Okay to be honest he's probably going to go straight back to causing trouble, getting in everyone's way and generally acting like the baddest bitch in the room at any given moment. But I'd also like to dig in a little more and explore the numerous ways this place could screw with him; he's not the most stable guy in the world and things could get messy really fast, especially when you throw powers into the mix. I haven't decided whether I'd bring along his Golisopod but it'd be really fun lbr

Tell Us More: Her people were engineered to cultivate and maintain skyscraper trees and also to be incurious and somewhat slow; they were then enslaved by aliens and used as shock troops. The first free Hork-Bajir born in decades, Toby is also a Seer, gifted with insight and an attention span that most of her people lack.

Taken from a canon point before she's flat out the leader of the free Hork-Bajir, so that she doesn't spend her entire time worried about her people getting on without her.
Choice: Witch, probably.
Basic Plans: No plans! Toby is the kind of minor character who's really interesting if you think about her, and we don't really see her in a wide range of situations.
Anything Else: I like this design for HBs.

Tell Us More: A spirited young Jedi with minimal powers who just does not give up.
Choice: I'm really not sure! Chimera or puca probably, they both have some fun traits, but witch could work out too.
Basic Plans: At the canon point I tend to take her from she's in a physically bad place and would be happier about getting jamjarred than at other points, but past that? idk.
Anything Else: I gave her these monstery changes in another game and that was a lot of fun - if I went chimera I could probably get something similar worked out, but I don't have to do that.

Possibly Apping: Kaede (also known as Lucy), from Elfen Lied
Tell Us More: A disaster zone of traumatic issues and spite, bottled since childhood and wrapped up in a startlingly pink package. Kaede (her real name) is a mostly mercurial creature, enduring things until she suddenly Can't, snaps, flips out, and usually people die. She's also occasionally horrifically spiteful and violent. But Kaede still has a squishy center under that, if you want to trawl through the issues and murder instead of cross the street to avoid dealing with her problems.

Also she's from that point in the manga where she died terribly; she'll be initially more depressed and listless than murderous.

Kaede also has one (1) Anime Split Personality and one (1) personal shoulder devil. The personality is called Nyu, a much kinder and gentler person who lives normally with people and is horrified of Kaede's existence, please don't talk about that serial killer in this house. Nyu is much friendlier, caring towards strangers and people she knows alike, and will be distinctly unhappy at the whole monster thing.

Choice: Monster most definitely, chimera most likely because she's a mess. I already have a design for it, I love making these things.
Basic Plans: Since Kaede will be dropping in shortly after her death, she'll be kind of weak for awhile and won't have any cool telekinesis powers. She'll be disgruntled at the latter, but now is a good time to give her a hug before she gets pointy. I personally want to start the changes as soon as possible because I am very excited.

Unlike Nyu, Kaede will be pretty okay about the monster thing. She just looks as monstrous as she thinks of herself now, it's fine. Feathers? Fine. Tail? She'll probably close a door on it, but it's fine. Digitigrade legs?? Mostly fine once she figures out how to use the stairs again, etc.

And since she thinks all the bridges in her previous life are burnt and done with, she's more open to form new attachments in this one. Forming attachments to people was kind of important to keep her from sliding into a purely antagonistic role which is how socialization works I know but she's a terribly socialized half-feral cat, okay.

Anything Else: Previous plans for getting bonded fast aside, canonmates would completely wreck her shit and I'd be delighted for that.

Bonus fun fact: she's 5'4'' and sounds unnervingly like a contralto Ali Hillis.

Possibly Apping: Caster of Cú Chulainn variety, from Fate/Grand Order
Tell Us More: Mythological walking disaster hailing from ancient Ireland. Good-natured, laidback, flirty douche. YOLO is strong with this one. He's genuinely loyal and gets attached to people fast. Got a strong code, but it is made of some outdated strange morals - like, in many circumstances he's totally down for murder.
Choice: Either Witch or Fae!Monster and I'm still undecided on that front. On the Witch side, he'd probably be that lazyass who works on the bare minimum, until it matters (or is framed successfully as aa challenge). Generally, he's a warrior at heart so being forced to re-learn magic would be an interesting narrative to go for. As for Fae, not going too-deep into the lore, but he was literally born in fairy mound and his papa got that whole god-elf-king stuff going on. The whole "given word is s a c r e d" as well as being welcoming but capable of incredible pettiness is present too, so it would be interesting to play that up with the effects.
Basic Plans: The change whatever option he goes, is going to be a bit of struggle, as well as the whole new world thing. But hey, if they are saving the world, it's not going to be boring!! Poor life decisions incoming sooner or later.
Anything Else: This premise is so my jam!! I'm really excited for the possibility to app, but because of some external circumstances, I make no promises. If I do, give me all the CR!!

Ren/Akira: Leader of the Phantom Thieves, a true gentleman cambrioleur, his friends are the world to him. Cooky and mischievous, he's basically the type to be flourish about what he does, and has plans within plans...but also a nerd, plays classic games and enjoys the Cake Knight Rises. Gets told to go to bed cause he's probably sleepy.

note; I'm not set on it being Ren or Akira, and more open to other's player's choice and deciding which name to use!

Yu Narukami: Yu's friends also mean the world to him, but Yu is a lot more calm and collected than Ren in his own way; in a situation where Ren would leave by breaking a window and fancily jumping down a window, Yu would probably just take the stairs instead. He enjoys doing magic tricks, telling terrible puns and can be sometimes seen as a little weird. He has no shame, for better or for worse.

also a note: Same thing as with Ren/Akira, I don't mind switching to Souji if other people are apping in the Investigation Team.

Shinjiro Arakagi: He's nothing like the other two, basically a grump that scares off others close to him and wants to be left alone because of terrible things that happened in his past (tm). Secretly a cooking nerd and is actually the mom of the group as in he cares what they are eating and making sure they are doing things safe. Don't rub it to his face however, he'll just pretend he didn't hear anything biggest tsunder of the team.

Hank Anderson: Basically a 53 year old grump that attempts scares off others close to him and wanted to be left alone because of terrible things that happened in his past (tm). Not as bad as before, has some more hope for the future, but still a big old grump. Is secretly good with kids (spoilers: his son dying is the terrible thing that happened in his past), not above saying profanities around children, basically a terrible role model all things considered. Likes his booze, complains about androids licking things.

Choice:
I have multiple ideas for each one;
Akira/Ren: Witch, Puca or Fae (if it's possible)
Yu: Chimera / Thunder Dragon / Witch
Shinjiro: Turnskin / Vampire (with super cute bat form woops) / Werewolf

Basic Plans: Depending on who I pick, mostly either PROTAG THE SHIT OUT OF THE SETTING AND PEOPLE (tm), or being in their own corners somehow running into others and having them slowly come out of their shells. Probably. No promises with Shinjiro. He's a bad grump. Maybe if you get a good rank with him he might cook you something, but he'd never tell you.

Alternately, I have also thought about Eikichi Mishina from Persona 2 but that guy's a really big loser.

Possibly Apping: Erin from Granblue Fantasy
Tell Us More: Erin is a fifteen-year-old girl from an all-female race (as far as we know) of Crystalia, which are practically a bunch of ice elves. She's kind of quiet, serious, and awkward. Sort of deadpan... she has very subtle changes to her expression. She might accidentally come off as cold (both literally and not), then apologize for it. She's actually pretty sweet, caring, and a bit big sister-like. She spent most of her life living in a palace with no interest in going outside... but she likes reading books about the outside world and cute animals.
Choice: I'm mostly leaning towards Witch. But the idea of her becoming a Dragon also sounds fun. Maybe something similar to Poli'ahu from another Cygames game... but I'm not sure if I want to transform her much.
Basic Plans: Regardless of what choice I make for her, I think it's going to be a challenge for Erin either way! Also with the new bonus story in GBF, I think it might be fun for her to misinterpret what "Bonding" means here... haha.

Possibly Apping: Sen from Granblue Fantasy
Tell Us More: I felt inspired after seeing other furry cat types here, lol. Sen is a very friendly girl from a mountain village and behaves very much like a cat (and has big ol' animal ears like other Erunes.) Also comes equipped with big claws. Even says "meow" sometimes, but that's embarrassing. She doesn't like crowds either, so she'll run away if there's too many people or squeeze next to someone she's comfortable with.
Choice: I need to think more about this! Either option can be fun for her. Witch or for Monster, possibly a Turnskin.
Basic Plans: She always wanted to learn about the world beyond her own little mountain village so a jamjar is just dandy for her.

Anything Else: I kind of skimmed through information and I may need to give it another re-read. I've been game shopping and what I've seen so far, it seems fun?! I'm going to be in Japan later this month, so I might be apping in a different round! Still some time to test the waters though!

Tell Us More: a genius magician who uses audiomancy: a spell that uses conques as a medium to manipulate sounds. it sounds cute, right? at least until you find out lobelia is a serial killer who records the sounds of bodies exploding and bones crushing for his own enjoyment. despite his appearance and rather eloquent and friendly manner of speech, lobelia is a person who simply lives life with his happiness and goals at the center of his focus. he's a pretty... awful guy. yeah.

Possibly Apping: Rey (Star Wars)

Tell Us More: Resilient, lonely scavenger turned Jedi student seeking her belonging. Most of her life has been spent in relative isolation as a scavenger in the deserts of Jakku, fiddling with tech and relying on herself to survive, and has very little finesse when it comes to socializing. As a result, she tends to be blunt and abrasive. Despite being feral with Questionable social skills, she's surprisingly brimming with hope and determined to see the good in people.

Choice: Vampire or possibly Merrow. The latter for aesthetic reasons & Rey's fascination with water, though I'm leaning toward the former for the internal conflict it would produce.

Basic Plans: Overall, I'd like to challenge Rey's world view and view on herself (the latter leading, hopefully, to eventual acceptance of herself and ability to prioritize her own needs as equal to others). Adapting to the transformation, as well; I'm leaning toward vampire to reflect Rey's temptation toward the Dark Side and forcing her to grapple with her idea of what a monster truly is. More than that, as someone who has always been self-reliant, it will be a challenge to depend on others for her survival.

Tell Us More: The fickle and flighty, unreliable Caster! He is indeed that Mozart, so the core of his existence is music and music alone. That being said, he can still be pretty sweet when it counts.
Choice: Witch! While I love writing monster transformations, Amadeus will fare much better and naturally as someone who crafts from magic and will dive head-first into his studies to regain his powers.
Basic Plans: These powers being, namely, the charms and enhancements he uses in his music! He's going to work to develop these skills again and maybe more, as he loves to learn from and thrive in new environments.
Anything Else: also his completely harmless good friend antonio salieri might be coming along, so that'll be fun for amadeus to deal with. long story short, amadeus might be in big trouble

Tell Us More: A delusional af edgelord who strongly believes that she is a fallen angel named Clochette, who is cursed by having the Mark of Sin sealed into her left eye. She is not. Suzu spends most of her time screaming, laughing evilly, spouting off dramatic nonsensical catchphrases/speeches, non-ironically LARPing, and practicing cool poses straight out of Jojo. Is actually pretty skilled with rock music if you can get over how loud and chaotic it is. She tends to break things a lot when overcome with emotion.

Deep down, she actually a kind big-sister type who is surprisingly good at taking care of and doting on people. Also, don't take off her eyepatch. Even if she claims that her immeasurable unrelenting Demonic Force will be unleashed and evaporate the world, she's just very insecure about her heterochromia and will turn into a crying mess if her eyepatch is gone.

Choice: I'm strongly leaning towards having her be a Witch, due to her personality of being destructive but nurturing worings well with the Evocation class of magic. But I'm kind of considering her being a Dragon due to the aesthetic choices (smth like the Xaela Au Ra from FFXIV but with wiiings) being in-line with a middle schooler's edgy Mary Sue OC-DO-NOT-STEAL demonic appearance. I think having her deal with the realities of things desired for chuunibyou traits (uncontrollable great power, being feared and outcasted) and how she handles it would be interesting too.

Basic Plans: The main issue is that no matter what, Suzu is kind of an unfriendly anti-social butthead who tends to rarely let anyone get close to her, though she's gotten a little better at it from her current canon point. I'd like to see if she can get out of her shell and form positive connections with others, despite being trapped in her weird delusions. Or maybe she'll actually snap out of them due to experiencing weirder things for real.

Choice: Monster she would be a dragon since she can turn into one, plus she'd loved to have scales.
Basic Plans: Um, let's see besides getting used to her transformation, she's going to be so happy to see and meet new people. Now that she's out in the world on her own she wants to know about everything and meet so many people! She's nosy too so she'd definitely would be involve with plot things, though she would be happy learning about this wonderful new place!

Tell Us More: Pierce is an OC from a Weird West-style setting, which means all those tall tales and rumors regarding strange, supernatural occurrences are mostly true. Pierce is more of a 'paranormal investigator' than a monster hunter, but he carries guns and has put down a few trouble-causing critters before.

He's 35, bisexual, and has a fairly nervous disposition in part thanks to his weird and dangerous job. Pierce will be coming in from the year 1900, but he's pretty non-judgmental for the time period, just old-fashioned compared to most everyone else apping in.
Choice: Monster - Naga
Basic Plans: He's not going to react well to becoming a monster, so if there's a 'most likely to go feral' list he'll probably be near the top. Pierce will also likely culture-clash a lot more with characters from more modern eras than he will with the NPC residents of the city, so expect him to complain about foul language and anyone showing more skin above their ankles you thots. He'll adjust eventually. Otherwise he's a gentleman and a pretty decent guy so hey, he's possibly also a good option as an uncle type for younger characters?? We'll see!
Anything Else: yooo this is a really cool game and I'm excited! I don't need enabling exactly, but I'd personally love to see more older characters in general! (though being surrounded by twenty-somethings constantly could be pretty funny ngl)

Tell Us More: Greed is the only Homunculi to refuse to go along with Father’s plans for them. He, being the personification of Father’s greed, wants pretty much everything, and is possessive over what he has. And he is loyal to and protective of his people, though he frames it as just part of his possessiveness and greed.

Mark Temple is a sim trooper seeking revenge on Project Freelancer and the UNSC after they used the sim troopers for their training and for testing their equipment - without the sim troopers’ knowledge at the time - and after they killed his best friend.
Choice: I think Greed as a chimera would be fun ‘cause he’s the leader of a group of FMA:B-style chimeras in his canon.

And Mark Temple would probably be a witch ‘cause I don’t feel like anything else really fits him well enough.
