Because of the level of interest and conversation happening with Aefenglom, we decided that we would offer an opportunity: Are you on the fence about a character, or having trouble choosing between Witch or Monsters? Want to see if there's anyone considering a castmate? You could even find out if you can enable someone into being one! This is similar to an EMP/ATP meme, in theory, although has the interesting note of being before game start. Not sure how you got here? Have no fear! Aefenglom is a sex-friendly, panfandom fantasy game, set in the post-apocalyptic world of Geargadas. Character choices can affect overarching plot, and the characters' ultimate goal will be to help rebalance the world by stopping the growth of the Cwyld, a magical blight infecting both the land and inhabitants living in places left unprotected. There are many things to learn about the world and how it came to be along the way that will help in discovering both the cause of the Cwyld and how to get home. Tell Us More: i regret to inform you Tyzias is a homestuck troll. She's from the more recent visual novel spinoff Hiveswap Friendsim, which takes place a century or two before Homestuck proper. Tyzias is an exhausted law student who has some qualms about her planet's awful justice system.
Choice: Faun or Turnskin. I am extremely struggling to pick, though, so I'm interested in knowing who else is considering those two.
Basic Plans: the entire jamjar experience is going to force her right out of her comfort zone just by default but I'm hoping to push her further out of her comfort zone by giving her a monster type with a pack/herd instinct so she can't as easily spend days holed up alone doing research, as is her wont. Tell Us More: Giorno is the world's smallest and most disastrous mob boss who will be extremely disconcerted at leaving his position of power and superpower behind, in that order of importance.
Choice: Monster, either Vampire or Merrow, and I'm genuinely suffering trying to choose lmao. Both are thematically relevant to his history and personality, especially his nat20 charisma, and I've got a few ideas for each. My ideas for a merrow design are more fleshed out but, I can't stress enough that I'm not joking, his dad is canonically a vampire so like,, help what do I do. Both are good is my point! There are dope narrative hooks regardless.
Basic Plans: Losing power that he worked really hard and lost friends to get is gonna fuck him up good. Also won't be thrilled about the monster thing tbqh? He would like to be more in control of this situation.
Anything Else: Honestly, I'd be interested in input regarding monster choice! Like, why have y'all picked the monsters you have, what kind of narrative hooks do you think are most interesting to play with wrt monster behavior, that kind of thing. I don't actually think there is a single bad choice in the bestiary and knowing me I'll choose at the last minute but! I'm curious about other people's thoughts. This is so many words help.

JoJo is a wild ride to me so I know barebones but I am fascinated in what giogio's app is going to look like when you get it done, it'll be a fun read. What's the kind of image you have in mind for the Merrow choice? Where do you want to go with that?? It might help narrow things down!

bc tbh I've had such a Time narrowing things down for even the handful of choices I've been considering. With Midori I finally settled on either dog Turnskin or hare Puca because they're pack/companion/loyalty oriented and he learns over the course of his character development that his weird found family is as important as his blood family.

For Turnskin he doesn't want to Do things but w/ all that pent up energy around shifts and the sprouting traits while emotional... ah, chefs kiss. Also he can be rude/a little shit under all his depresso so exploring that further as a Puca is tempting.

Tell Us More: Connor is an android from 2038, in a world where there are millions of androids used for all kinds of tasks. However the androids have started to gain emotions and break free of their programming, making them deviants. Connor is built to track down deviants and apprehend them, but depending on how you play it, becomes a deviant himself. This Connor is deviant, and remained on good terms with his partner, Hank.

Tell Us More: Half alien magical boy/space princess with a history of mom issues. Steven is an exciteable and empathetic teen with way too many responsibilities heaped on his shoulders, not least him having to frequently be the adult for a gaggle of adult alien rebels. He's spent years trying to protect the earth, but he'll probably grow into protecting basically wherever he currently is. He's a few months short of 15 but I got mod approval so LET'S DO THIS.
Choice: Fae
Basic Plans: Steven is going to be pretty invested in trying to help resolve whatever issues are going on in Geargadas, but that will largely depend on where the plot goes. Besides that I would like for him to get involved in the entertainment industry?? And possibly put illusion powers to good use for extra magical performances.
Anything Else: I'm already definitely apping so enabling isn't really necessary, but I'm interested in potential castmates! I have a friend apping Peridot, and I'd be enthusiastic about any castmates at all - though I'd have EXTRA fervor for either incarnation of his mom, the Diamonds, Pearl, or especially GARNET. (I've genuinely never gotten to play off her for longer than a month, it's criminal.)

Lux has a natural curiosity for the world around her and a severe case of wanderlust, this place is either going to be the best or worst thing ever for her.

Basic Plans: Magic comes as natural as breathing to her in her world, so I want to see her struggle with adjusting to a different way of doing things. From there, I'm winging it.

Tell Us More: Mikleo is a level-headed tsundere healer who is also an archaeology buff~ He's used to being invisible and having to rely on his partner Sorey to act as the bridge between humans and seraphim... It'll be fun once he realizes he can be seen by everybody.
Choice: Witch
Basic Plans: Mikleo will be dedicating himself to relearning magic since his native and instinctive magical abilities will be altered. He's also not going to be the one in danger of turning into a mindless corrupted hellspawn, which is new. I think he will be focused on learning his new role in this world and how it fits together, particularly the Cwyld (which is going to severely fuck him up without help).
Anything Else: I may have a Sorey following me but other castmates could be fun! But really I'll welcome any kind of CR. He's sassy but he means well. Let him nerd with you.

Possibly Apping: The Wolf from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Tell Us More: "Adopted" from a battlefield as a child, Wolf was trained by a master shinobi in their arts. He is sworn to the Divine Heir of the Dragon's Heritage (which, given all of the proper nouns, lets you know that he's very important). The Heir is a young boy named Kuro, who he protects with his life. Again and again and again. Because Kuro gives him the gift (?) of endless resurrection, courtesy of the Dragon's Heritage. So he's died way more than twice. Especially if he's from my play-through.

Long story short: he is a very gruff man with no hobbies who is EXTREMELY SERIOUS ABOUT HIS DUTY, but also he is intense gap moe and I love him.
Choice: Turnskin wolf flavor and no one can stop me.
Basic Plans: The fandom keeps drawing him with wolf ears/a wolf tail so I need to make that a reality. OTHER THINGS: the game only starts to go into Wolf beginning to make decisions for himself, so I really want to explore his motivations and goals now that he's separated from Kuro and his duty as a shinobi. He's never been allowed to have a life, so it'll be a fun, new experience!!
Anything Else: The game only came out late last month, so I won't be able to app until next month! But I definitely want to TDM!!

Tell Us More: Minako is a cheerful, friendly high school girl who gains the special power to summon creatures called Personas after arriving to her new school in Iwatodai. Some crazy stuff happens and she finds out she used to have literal Death stored inside her-- but because it eventually yeeted itself out of her, she has a chance to save the world and all of humanity.

Basic Plans: I'm changing things up from how I usually play her! Instead of making her the badass she normally is, I'm going to app her from February when she's at her physically weakest, forcing her to acknowledge her condition as a witch in Aefenglom and come to terms with how much and what she's truly capable of. Her magical potential in her canon will follow her into Aefenglom, and as as witch, she'll be constantly on the brink of getting overloaded and "going supernova", which means she (and I) would be very happy to have bonds with multiple monsters! It's just like her Social Links.

Anything Else: I would love castmates from any of the Persona games, of course! Also, I'll probably app Naminé from KH next round if nobody else has apped her by then, so I'd love to have a cast for her as well!

Tell Us More: Clarke's a co-leading mom friend that wants the best for her people, even at the expense of herself. She's empathetic and cares intensely, but can also be stubborn and have blinders on when it comes to making choices regarding the safety of people she cares about. (And to be honest, I'm not canon-current and only watched to the end of s3! But I intend on catching up before apps open.)
Choice: Witch!
Basic Plans: Clarke comes from a sci-fi genre show, so playing her adapting to magic and mythical monsters is my biggest "plan" right now. She's done the "whole new world" thing, though, so that's not too new for her and she can hopefully help acclimate others to the situation. She'll also hit the ground running to try and help however she can with the blight so that she can go home.
Anything Else: I'd love for her to bond with other witches and create some good friendships that way!! I have no current plans for the actual "Bond" side of things. Castmates are always amazing but I'm also comfortable being a lone-canon member. I am also more than happy to do any type of cross-canon CR building! Clarke forming new relationships is my favourite so please bring me all your characters for her to bond with.

Tell Us More: In the manga Sarah is 28, an English teacher and recently reunited with her ablation Moppet. With Moppet's return came the return of her former dreams of acting and her genuine love for writing so she's reconnecting with that. She's still stubborn with a harsh attitude in the beginning that mellows once Moppet and her become one again.
Choice: Witch
Basic Plans: I really want to explore more of an older Sarah's personality and how she would deal with being thrust into yet another magical world while learning to cope with her own new magical abilities.

Tell Us More: Maria is a vampire hunter with a boisterous nature. She has a generally cheerful attitude and because of her powers and family heritage is good with all sorts of animals.

Basic Plans: Given her abilities before arriving here, I want to explore how Maria will make the transition to Witch. Or heck, how she will deal with being one of the monsters.

Tell Us More: from the new she-ra! she loves robots and magitech and cute animals and risking wholesale environmental destruction just to see what will happen. she craves companionship and trust but also is FULLY WILLING to attempt to dissect people she has just met.
Choice: Not sure! I like the idea of her as arachne or fae (gotta have some extra arms to make up for losing her prehensile hair) but i'm still dithering on which would be the more entertaining fit for her if I went the monster route, and I think she could be fun as a witch too. It's probably better for everyone if she can't do magic though honestly
Basic Plans: season 2 of she-ra is airing at the end of this month so if I do app her it won't be until a while after then! She'd be doing her best to dig into what makes everything here tick, though, and would probably be really interested in doing some weird n dubious experiments to test the limits of Bonds.

Basic Plans: Obtain 50 girlfriends Adjust to having a solid body instead of one made out of light; have A LOT of trouble dealing with monster instincts bc she's an emotionally volatile little gremlin.

On the topic of ~realtionships~ romantic or otherwise (since this IS a game about bonds and stuff) I'm an incorrigible multishipper and I would love an Amethyst, Jasper or Lapis to play off of, but I also ship her with like. Tell Us More: Another android potentially joining the crew! 9S is from Earth's distant future—the year 11945—that's been abandoned by humanity thanks to alien created machines and the subsequent war that's been raging on for several thousand years. He's a YoRHa model that specializes in reconnaissance and data gathering, and fights in the hopes of reclaiming the planet for humans. 9S is generally a personable guy who likes the company of others with a dash of brattiness, though I haven't decided on a canonpoint yet. Which. Does affect some things.
Choice: Witch, most likely, but nothing is 100% set in stone.
Basic Plans: Well, for starters it would be trying to acclimate to... basically everything. 9S has never spent time with humans so knows nothing about them, nor does he know anything about the supernatural. It'll be one hell of a learning experience. From there, we'll see!
Anything Else: I'm sure I've already enabled myself hard over this because I super dig the premise and I'd love to play with it c': I'm a little 'aaaa' about apping a robot to a fantasy heavy game, so I have tentatively considered other options... but we can see how this goes!!

Possibly Apping: Elizabeth of the Persona series, Ritsu Sakuma of Ensemble Stars!
Tell Us More: Elizabeth is an attendant of the Velvet Room, a space caught between dream and reality. She's super powerful, but is only an extra, completely optional boss in Persona 3! After the events of her game proper, though, she leaves to find a way to save the P3 protagonist from his fate as a Jesus doorknocker keeping humanity from literally destroying itself, without risking the rest of the world. She's a fun, whimsical character who isn't afraid to go hogwild and use every bit of her power against those she thinks can handle it, while still being a very elegant, sort of otherworldly, mysterious presence.

Meanwhile, Ritsu's a little more lowkey; he's a student in the idol course of Yumenosaki Academy whose family has a genetic disease that makes them akin to vampires - pale skin, red eyes, having a really bad time with the sun and being largely nocturnal as a result. They drink blood too, but can stave it off by just consuming something red in color, like tomato juice... or roses... The Sakuma family also has some weird vampire cult thing going on, and his older brother is sort of de facto the head of household, so Ritsu doesn't really get to see much of it. Good for him! He's a little clingy with people he likes, but tends to stay out of dealing with people for most of the year; he wasn't socialized very well and for a while had like, maybe one person he considered a friend.
Choice: Monster for both! I think I'm mostly settled on dragon for Elizabeth, but I'm torn between Fae or Puca for Ritsu
Basic Plans: With Elizabeth... I don't have too many plans; she's just a generally fun character for me to play, and though I'd probably take her from the beginning of Persona 4 Arena instead of the end (which is where I usually snatch her from). She's easy and doesn't take much work to integrate, and I'll probably end up apping her sometime if I don't do her first. Ritsu, on the other hand, I'd probably take somewhere in early year... I'd like to play with him having to learn much quicker that he has to rely on someone aside from his best friend Mao, since he's Really reliant on him - their relationship is fairly unhealthily codependent pre-character development.
Anything Else: I'm very tired, it's 1:30am... I think either way I'm going to end up apping both of them in separate rounds, it's more of trying to decide who I want to app first... whoops.

Tell Us More: Alex is an ex prostitute (with ye ol’ heart of gold) who was saved from her crappy life by some friendly neighbourhood hitmen. Due to the drugs Alex took during her time on the streets, a good portion of her memory has been wiped clean leaving her with little to no knowledge of her past. She’s very soft spoken and kind despite her massive self-esteem issues and gets along with mostly everyone.
Choice: I’m leaning towards Witch just because it seems to fit her personality more, BUT I think a Naga would be extra sweet too. I really like the idea of both so if there's a role you'd like to see her in lmk!
Basic Plans: Alex is a pretty passive person but once she’s loyal to someone she’s ride or die which makes her a good side kick. So, maybe get her some cr where she can support and eventually become more active? If I go with the Witch role she'll probably get pretty into studying and being the Best Witch™ she can be.
Anything Else: Nothing in particular! I'm always down for castmates and I like a variety of cr so feel free to hit me with ideas!

Tell Us More: He's a super nerd who always tries his best...a good child. Kind of awkward but he makes friends pretty easily anyway.
Choice: Leaning towards witch! I might change my mind and go Monster, but I'm thinking I'd prefer witch for him currently. If I went monster, maybe Mer? Or vampire, for no reason other than I like both of those.
Basic Plans: "I want to play Izuku Midoriya somewhere" - but seriously, I think he'd have a good time nerding out about monsters and magic, even if he'd have a minor panic attack about his quirk being gone.

Tell Us More: He's from a canon that nobody has ever heard of, probably. He is the personification of the country of England. He's generally polite but very sarcastic on a surface level, deeply cynical and distrusting underneath that, and underneath that he is a loyal, lonely dude who likes magic and cute things. Sometimes known to be a total delinquent, and thought to be kind of weird for his connection to magic.
Choice: Fae, most likely
Basic Plans: It's going to make him so damn angry that he's a monster instead of a witch because he would be a GREAT witch and he does not want to be someone's familiar, damnit! So he'll be dealing with that. He's canonically an alcoholic and so the inebriation thing would hit him like a truck, which would be both sad and hilarious.

Tell Us More: Konoe is a catboy from a post-apocalyptic world where there's a blight consuming everything and there's monsters and - wait, why does this sound familiar?! XD Okay, there's very little actual overlap, and monsters are definitely different from what they are in this game. I'm just easily amused.
Anyway, Konoe is a cat person from a world of cat people where like 99% of them are male, so he'll be weirded out by humans, and maybe stare a bit at the ladies. He's been on his own for a long time, very stubbornly surviving, and his social skills are not always great - he gets overly defensive when he thinks you're insulting him, for one - but he's a good person at heart. Probably bringing him from right after he was cursed and then that curse was lifted(???), so he's at least got a little more experience people-ing (... catting?) than he did before, and he knows the joys (^{citation needed}) of being in a big city.
Choice: Witch! He's already not human, and I like the idea of him being sort of between the human and monster categories. He's going to wear his hooded cape a lot, because that totally hides his ears and tail... (Homer whispers: No, it doesn't...)
Basic Plans: He's going to be very glad to be rid of some of his canon powers, less so about others... Mostly I want him slowly but surely learning some magic, mostly to protect people, and I really hope to get him *SHOCKGASP* socializing. He's kind of a tsunkitty, okay...
Anything Else: Canonmates are love, but really, any CR is A+++. Sorry if he goes rawr at you because he feels attacked/insulted. He's a cat. He does that. It's usually very superficial.

Basic Plans: Mary has never been buddy-buddy with other vampires (usually he ends up murdering them), so the thought that he could make actual friends with them and other monsters sounds like a blast. Anything Else: Not entirely confident in my ability to join a real game again, but I'm crossing my fingers really hard.

Possibly Apping: Despite having had months to try and figure out who to app, I've only recently picked Midori Takamine (Ensemble Stars!) and that's a like 90% guarantee. (The 10% chance is apping Kuro Kiryu from the same canon instead, as a Dragon or wolf Turnskin - the big buff ex-thug dad friend who is also daddy friend is a choice life.)

Tell Us More: You know that John Mulaney bit that's like "Woah! That tall child looks terrible!" That's Midori. He's depressed, tired, low-energy, and is surrounded by a bunch of weirdos in the idol course at Yumenosaki Academy. His family runs a green grocer near the school, and he decided to go there just due to the proximity - until someone saw him and went YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL AND TALL AND BUFF, JOIN MY IDOL UNIT!!! and it was superhero themed and he's so done with everything. On the flipside he gets more access to cute stuffed animals and mascot merchandise, so there's that. (Also he comes to love his weirdo sentai family and enjoy being an idol.)

Choice: Monster - I'm between a doggo Turnskin (sketched here) and hare Puca (sort of here and here, this was for sth else but STILL RELEVANT)

Basic Plans: Midori will wind up getting a little taller regardless of which choice due to digitigrade feetses and legs so he'll hate that on top of WEIRD THINGS HAPPENING TO HIM. In more serious things, I want him to go from stressed, depressed, and ready 2 die at the sheer levels of Oh My God I Don't Want To Be Here, Why Is This Happening To Me and learning he can be heroic. (But also I didn't make this game for nothing, I want him to deal w/ the risk of going feral.) He's not someone that would get super involved in the overarching plot though, so -

Anything Else: Characters that would get more involved in things, I've also considered Souji Seta (Persona 4) as a Witch; Kazuya Miyuki (Daiya no A) as a Witch or a tanuki Turnskin; Kon Shinonome (Amatsuki) as a Witch, some kinda Fae, a Puca, or fox Turnskin; Shouto Todoroki (BNHA) as a Dragon or Witch; Yang Xiao Long (RWBY) as a Dragon; Yoshiyuki Mutsunokami (Touken Ranbu) as a seal Merrow or doggo Turnskin... Riku or Aqua, as if I've beaten KH3 yet fam, so many options. And most of them are furry. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Possibly Apping: Pannacotta Fugo! I also plan on tossing Haru Okumura on the TDM, so I'll repeat this for her below.
Tell Us More: Fugo is an incredibly tacky (cannot exaggerate the tackiness enough) and temperamental criminal teenager who bailed on his friends halfway through the plot of his shounen source material, only to get roped back into things about six months later. He feels Pretty Guilty and fucked up about this decision. He's also going to be uncomfortably relieved about being depowered since his supernatural ability claim to fame is "uncontrollable and indiscriminately lethal flesh-eating virus". #yikes On top of all of that, he's a Big Time Nerd. Please nerd out with him.
Choice: Witch!
Basic Plans: First and foremost: getting him a decent pair of pants. I'm really interested in the aspect of witches where they need to reach out and bond with other people, because otherwise they will lose control of their powers. Fugo is the sort of person who gets very unhappy when he doesn't have a purpose to apply himself to, so he would really throw himself into the study of magic. Which will then (literally) blow up in his face because he's both used to never using his abilities unless absolutely necessary and is naturally prickly and standoffish.
Anything Else: I'm very curious about what schools of magic other witches will be studying! I'm undecided for Fugo at the moment, because all of them sound like a lot of fun.

Tell Us More: Haru is ................ also a criminal teenager. But much cuter. And also secretly, as part of the ~PHANTOM THIEVES OF HEART~. Haru grew up extremely wealthy and privileged, but very lonely; most people who approach her do so because they want to take advantage of her family's status. Haru's arc in Persona 5 is all about opening up and trusting people and learning to fight and stand up for herself. She's very softspoken and sweet with hobbies like gardening, flower arranging, and chopping firewood with an axe on her balcony for stress relief. Her dream is to own and manage a cafe that sells food made from produce she's grown herself.
Choice: Witch
Basic Plans: Nothing beyond being really enamored with the idea of Haru studying enchantment so she can grow plants that give people buffs. And making friends!! Also the usual shenanigans of getting to live like a normal person. Just, you know, a normal person who can also do magic. And maybe get her involved in exploration of the Cwyld? There's a lot of things she could do!!
