Has your character been here for a while now? Are you tired of meeting characters for the first time even though they've actually been sharing a class and/or work space for a month now? Well, here is the solution for you! The Handwaved CR Meme! Instead of stressing out trying to thread with every character you would reasonably encounter right off the bat, here is an opportunity to OOCly discuss and establish casual meetings and connections that have already happened but never had the time or need to be threaded out.

This is best used for things like characters sharing a class in the Coven, or working in the same location, or pursuing the same quests. Or maybe even being neighbors or roommates! Anything where characters have been occupying the same space for a while, but haven't had the opportunity to thread it out yet. Get those first building blocks of CR out of the way, and prepare yourself for more intense threading later!


THE RULES:

• There are few different subject headers, centered around common activities or locations we can think of. Beneath these headers, you can go ahead and post about what your character is generally doing there and the impression they may give off. The current headers are: Coven Lessons, Workplaces Around the City, Haven Neighbors, Questing Companions, Making a Scene or Shady Deals?.
• Then, other people react! Reply to people who have posted with how your character would generally engage with their presence, and establish some nice, casual CR. Are you that loudmouth that won't stop talking over people in Evocation class? This is where people can tell you how you make them feel!
• Post your own subject headers! We're putting up what comes to mind, but if you have other subjects you'd like to mingle over, go ahead and make them a reality.
• These don't necessarily have to be first meetings, it can also be used to flesh out CR you've established elsewhere.

Workplaces Around the City

Do you have a job? If so, tell us about what hours you work, your disposition with your coworkers or customers, or anything else people might see you doing while working around the city.

You can find workplaces on the Locations page for native and player business alike; also, anything mentioned in a past Quest Board regarding part-time opportunities on is free game to take on, part-time or full-time if your character would pursue that job. You are always free to make up something on your own as well! It's a huge city, and lots of places are always looking for work.

Geralt of Rivia | The Witcher

This is less "has a business" but since Geralt's wolf teeth fall out every full moon when he changes, he's usually selling them pretty much to.... anyone who wants so, if your character has a shop or is deep into alchemy, he'd have probably been by with an offer.

Waver can probably use those teeth for something or other, alchemy is weird. He's welcome to sell them at Inkchanted!

Jin Guangyao | MDZS

Jin Guangyao works for a rather large trading company in Aefenglom (one large enough to have boats and warehouses at the harbor, as well as offices in the shopping district), helping with financial organization and accounting, but more importantly organizing a bit of trade between the Underground and Aefenglom. Taking advantage of the Mirrorbound's special status like that iiiiis a little questionable, probably. But it's not as if he can carry a whole convoy with him, so it in-person trade tends to be limited to smaller, higher-value goods.

He's also a member of the Mirrorbound Council and treats it like a second job even if it isn't, really.

Between those things (and sometimes quests) he's a very busy man snake naga, and works long hours, but always seems pleasant and polite. With running around for one thing or another, it's easy to find him just about anywhere in the city, or out on a trip to the Underground in person.

trade with the Underground, you say? I'm thinking Inkchanted could be interested in some supplies from there and vice versa! Perhaps they can have some business associations. The Underground doesn't seem like the kind of society where Monsters are that interested in having their own magic, but hey, if there's an in perhaps Waver has politely asked for some advertisements to be sent over that way with supplies, if Jin Guangyao would oblige!

Now I'm wondering if Underground monsters ever come visit the city, since there isn't a reverse prohibition on visits!

But yes, he would absolutely lend a hand and bring along a few flyers!

Alice Elliot | Shadow Hearts

She doesn't have a storefront, but Alice has been working as an exorcist in Aefenglom pretty much since she arrived. Until recently, her business partner has been Styx, and they've been getting business through word-of-mouth and flyers throughout parts of the city.

Generally, the work has mostly consisted of helping people with unrelated issues and dealing with illusion magic stuff. Some day, she might actually encounter a ghost or something more like she's used to back home!

Saori Nakagawa | OC

Saori is the owner and head chef of Aefenglom's one and only izakaya-style pub, Fushimi, located in the entertainment district. It maybe small in size compared to other establishments there, but she makes it up with the quality of the menu and atmosphere. Whether you're starting your night of indulgences or taking a breather before heading back for the night, Fushimi is open for your food needs. The menu has options for everyone, with her smoked dishes and Japanese style curries being highly recommended.

Actually, she's considering putting out a post advertising for more help around Fushimi. (She's seriously about including the fact if anyone works a full night, they get a free meal from her.) Scheduling is flexible as she gets everyone (including herself) also wants to quests and other things. She may ask if people are interested in a take out option just open up more positions.

I know Everett's player dropped semi-recently, so are there any other remaining staff members around? What is going on with the place now? Steak was definitely present for any heavy lifting, handyman, odd jobs here and it would be nice to keep the place going if possible.

Momo | IDOLiSH7

While he and his partner Yuki are getting their music careers rolling again (including having performed at Eostre again recently), Momo's primary jobs since arriving over a year ago now are in radio and modelling! He mostly does morning radio shows and does a lot of interviews with local personalities, but he does also do a late-night show on Wednesdays where he sometimes talks about spicier topics - either way, there's a high chance a character who listens to the radio with some regularity would've heard him, or even if they frequent a bar or cafe or something where the radio runs in the background. Regardless of what time he's on, it's pretty obvious he's a longstanding professional at this given how well he handles guests and keeps the mood going. As far as modelling goes, he usually works for either individual designers/tailors or occasionally department stores, so feel free to handwave having seen him in a department store magazine ad/catalogue, in a tailor/designer's books of custom clothing options they can have made to order, or occasionally in in-store adverts for other places such as cafes, clubs and very occasionally some of the more toned-down red light district stores where they just want him to look sexy next to a product or something (usually featuring far more skintight clothes than he usually wears, in which people can realise he's far more muscular than one might expect).

Red Wine | Food Fantasy

While Red does pick up odd jobs now and then he does some work offering swordplay lessons to locals and spends more time around monster kids in the more impoverished schools than he would willingly admit.

He also spends a lot of time around the harbour playing cards with the sailors and dock workers. He doesn't consistently win often enough to make people not want to play with him and is generally well-regarded by most, but he does occasionally get a windfall from this uh... slightly less 'knightly' pursuit.

Ciri just got here but all these things are right up her alley! I bet they'd get along. If he eventually needs a hand teaching swordfighting or a sparring buddy, maybe they can meet up in a sword-related way sometime? That, or a shady tavern where Ciri would insist on learning about this world's card games, if you're interested!

Ignis Scientia | FFXV

Though he doesn't have a full time/permanent job anywhere at the moment Ignis does pick up a lot of work cooking and baking for various kitchens/cafes around the city. He's already been able to make a small name for himself and sometimes uses the spaces after-hours when he's permitted to, trying out his own recipes and creations.

Waver Velvet | Fate/Zero

Waver is the co-owner of Inkchanted, an enchanted tattoo parlor in the harbor district that's been around for... wow, like a year and a half now?! He runs the place with Caster Cu and Iskandar, who are both Witches and can do the actual enchanting. Waver, despite being a Monster, is proficient in alchemy and does a lot of work mixing the ink and, less enjoyably but just as important, managing the place.

Inkchanted offers tattoos that work similarly to spell scrolls: you can activate the magic in them at any time, but they last for a much longer period than a spell scroll that's used up. Even Monsters can "use magic" in this way, using stored-up magical energy in a talisman like a battery, which Inkchanted also sells. Things like pendants, bracelets or rings, even belts, etc. Everything is customizable so your character can get whatever kind of tattoo and battery combo they want, enabled with basic spells from elemental types to barriers and even, recently, healing magic (that last is a work in progress...).

Feel free to handwave your character getting a tattoo or two here! They're very likely to see Waver bustling around the place, manning the front desk, or looking grouchy somewhere in a corner when his customer service patience wears out lol

Elidibus (Ardbert) | FFXIV

The man calling himself 'Ardbert' currently focuses his work at the Harbor District's orphanage as a (paid) teacher on various subjects including math, practical studies, basic science, combat and music. In the last month or so since he started he has earned favorable regard from the children and probably some of the (NPC) staff as he seems to know when and where to offer his assistance and expertise without being overbearing.

Previous to this he did a lot of odd jobs (errands, escorts, loading/unloading cargo and so forth) around the city. He can still be seen picking these tasks up from job boards but with a steady job it is not as frequent as it was in the beginning.

Aziraphale (aka A.Z. Fell) || Good Omens

He works for a bakery called "Sweet Buns", where he spends a lot of time in the back, but on slower days he tends to be more out and about. He can be pretty generous when it comes to conversation or sharing samples. Particularly if someone looks/sounds hungry.
