Has your character been here for a while now? Are you tired of meeting characters for the first time even though they've actually been sharing a class and/or work space for a month now? Well, here is the solution for you! The Handwaved CR Meme! Instead of stressing out trying to thread with every character you would reasonably encounter right off the bat, here is an opportunity to OOCly discuss and establish casual meetings and connections that have already happened but never had the time or need to be threaded out.

This is best used for things like characters sharing a class in the Coven, or working in the same location, or pursuing the same quests. Or maybe even being neighbors or roommates! Anything where characters have been occupying the same space for a while, but haven't had the opportunity to thread it out yet. Get those first building blocks of CR out of the way, and prepare yourself for more intense threading later!


THE RULES:

• There are few different subject headers, centered around common activities or locations we can think of. Beneath these headers, you can go ahead and post about what your character is generally doing there and the impression they may give off. The current headers are: Coven Lessons, Workplaces Around the City, Haven Neighbors, Questing Companions, Making a Scene or Shady Deals?.
• Then, other people react! Reply to people who have posted with how your character would generally engage with their presence, and establish some nice, casual CR. Are you that loudmouth that won't stop talking over people in Evocation class? This is where people can tell you how you make them feel!
• Post your own subject headers! We're putting up what comes to mind, but if you have other subjects you'd like to mingle over, go ahead and make them a reality.
• These don't necessarily have to be first meetings, it can also be used to flesh out CR you've established elsewhere.

Coven Lessons

For Witches (or tag-along Monsters) that have been learning magic with the Coven. Specify classes, behaviors, routines, success with their studies, and whatever else their classmates might become familiar with.

Workplaces Around the City

Do you have a job? If so, tell us about what hours you work, your disposition with your coworkers or customers, or anything else people might see you doing while working around the city.

You can find workplaces on the Locations page for native and player business alike; also, anything mentioned in a past Quest Board regarding part-time opportunities on is free game to take on, part-time or full-time if your character would pursue that job. You are always free to make up something on your own as well! It's a huge city, and lots of places are always looking for work.

Haven Neighbors

Since the majority of Mirrorbound are all sharing a neighborhood together, you've probably been seen each other around. Do you interact with your neighbors at all? Have you done something terrible to your property? Is you lawn an eyesore? Do you stay up late making noise that everyone living around you can hear? Establish some neighborhood friends or enemies!

For more detailed info on housing options, please check the Housing Spreadsheet. Please note that players are welcome to edit the spreadsheet, no need to ask. There's plenty of housing to go around!

Questing Companions

Been doing quests? Give fellow players a rundown of what quests your character has been doing, and how they behave while doing them. Would they be accepting help from others doing the same thing? Looking for buddies to go questing with?

This can be a great place to link your quest plotting from the quest log or discuss general related stuff, including former quests!

Making a Scene or Shady Deals?

Are YOU making a scene? This one is pretty general, but basically, if your character has been doing anything worrying, obnoxious, or just highly visible in public places, and you want to make it known, tell everyone about it here. People can observe and have opinions about you. Or maybe they will even try to interfere?

Remember, if your character is doing something that might get them in trouble with the city or cause a big enough ruckus to be a gamewide plot, the mod contact and/or plotting post is always open!

Geralt of Rivia | The Witcher

This is less "has a business" but since Geralt's wolf teeth fall out every full moon when he changes, he's usually selling them pretty much to.... anyone who wants so, if your character has a shop or is deep into alchemy, he'd have probably been by with an offer.

Waver can probably use those teeth for something or other, alchemy is weird. He's welcome to sell them at Inkchanted!

Jin Guangyao | MDZS

Jin Guangyao works for a rather large trading company in Aefenglom (one large enough to have boats and warehouses at the harbor, as well as offices in the shopping district), helping with financial organization and accounting, but more importantly organizing a bit of trade between the Underground and Aefenglom. Taking advantage of the Mirrorbound's special status like that iiiiis a little questionable, probably. But it's not as if he can carry a whole convoy with him, so it in-person trade tends to be limited to smaller, higher-value goods.

He's also a member of the Mirrorbound Council and treats it like a second job even if it isn't, really.

Between those things (and sometimes quests) he's a very busy man snake naga, and works long hours, but always seems pleasant and polite. With running around for one thing or another, it's easy to find him just about anywhere in the city, or out on a trip to the Underground in person.

Appearance: like this! - he is 6' tall, has bright blue eyes and he looks great in a suit. He is also very Welsh.
Brief: Ianto is basically the archivist/support man/everything in between for Torchwood, a secret underground organization that does its best to defend the earth against alien threat. He has survived a lot of trauma from this job, including the fall of Torchwood London where he used to work, the loss of his girlfriend who got converted into a cyberman aka basically an evil robot, and tl;dr he's not really had an easy time of things. Ianto has somehow wound up sleeping with/falling for his boss, the charismatic Jack Harkness, just in time to get sucked into this place. So on top of missing his team/Torchwood in general, he's also trying to figure that piece out as well. ITS ALL VERY COMPLICATED -- his app is here if you want to read more!
Seeking/Offering: FRIENDS... People that Ianto will be able to get along with haha, or people that will be able to get along with him. He's young and snarky and also still kind of angsty and confused, but he has a lot of experience with Terrible Things and also Weird Things?? And he will be feeling very lonely... Also BONDS, since this is necessary for the game. Ianto is coming in as a WITCH -- he will be doing a lot of RESEARCHING in the library and he will be throwing himself into coven lessons to try to learn everything he can about this magic thing, but that does mean that he needs some way to supply himself, if you will...

Hello Teresa! Welcome to the game!!

Excited to see Ianto around! Waver (from Fate/Zero) is a nerd who occasionally hangs out at the library, and despite being a Monster, is pretty good at magic theory. I also play a snarky teen ex-assassin called Killua (Hunter x Hunter), and a medieval swordfight-y lady named Ciri (Witcher 3). Not sure who'll get along best with Ianto, but I'll certainly keep an eye out! :)

Alice Elliot | Shadow Hearts

She doesn't have a storefront, but Alice has been working as an exorcist in Aefenglom pretty much since she arrived. Until recently, her business partner has been Styx, and they've been getting business through word-of-mouth and flyers throughout parts of the city.

Generally, the work has mostly consisted of helping people with unrelated issues and dealing with illusion magic stuff. Some day, she might actually encounter a ghost or something more like she's used to back home!

Tag-along... how dare... Ferran visits the Coven for his own edification, tyvm!!

Ferran visits the Coven (or Undermael) library a lot. There is too much to learn! And he figures that learning the Witch principles of certain magic will help him figure out what the hell Fae powers can do (as well as what to expect from others), and occasionally attending a class to take notes reminds him of what being a Normal Person is like, so even if he can't actually participate in most of them, he might be there a few times in a month. His own powers mainly drive him towards Illusion and Enchantment classes, although he occasionally may duck into Abjuration and Conjuration ones. (He sure misses being a magical 3D copier...)

Even though he is a Fae, he keeps up a glamor pretty much whenever he's in public, so unless his cloak is off, he just looks like a guy. He may or may not have been mistaken for a witch a few times, which he's perfectly fine with.

Ferran lives in one of the "Classy" houses, which have 5 bedrooms and change. Despite having plenty in the way of roommate options, he lives alone and likes it that way, intending to use the space for guests, he guesses. Maybe he'll have a Fae party sometime down the line, idk. For now he keeps things pretty quiet, but he's probably been spending more time flying around the neighborhood lately, and his wings are incredibly sparkly and hard to miss.

On the full moons the house may or may not "transform" into something entirely different that doesn't even kind of fit into the neighborhood, like a desert oasis or a sci-fi mansion. Don't worry about it.

Saori is the owner and head chef of Aefenglom's one and only izakaya-style pub, Fushimi, located in the entertainment district. It maybe small in size compared to other establishments there, but she makes it up with the quality of the menu and atmosphere. Whether you're starting your night of indulgences or taking a breather before heading back for the night, Fushimi is open for your food needs. The menu has options for everyone, with her smoked dishes and Japanese style curries being highly recommended.

Actually, she's considering putting out a post advertising for more help around Fushimi. (She's seriously about including the fact if anyone works a full night, they get a free meal from her.) Scheduling is flexible as she gets everyone (including herself) also wants to quests and other things. She may ask if people are interested in a take out option just open up more positions.

We'll definitely have to throw them at each other at some point, it would make Ianto feel better being in this strange place to hear someone who at least SORT OF sounds like someone from home, HAHA. They've got their differences but I think they'd get along, yeah!
