Special Fourth Wall EMP!

Happy one-year anniversary, Aefenglom! In honor of this special occasion and to make up for delaying our application round, this month we are having a Fourth Wall Event, open to all who want to try out a character in the setting. Don't let your dreams be dreams. Keep in mind that for this Fourth Wall, characters who would not normally be appable will be allowed, except for CRAU, and with the caveat of "be considerate to each other" with regards to doubles, etc. Otherwise, have fun!

Feel free to use this post for characters you'd like to see, or to float characters you might want to bring, make plans with people who aren't already part of the game, etc! (The CR Meme on the 3rd will be for current players/characters. Fourth wall guests should use this instead.)

Fourth wall characters will arrive through various mundane mirrors throughout Aefenglom after a little mishap at the Looking-Glass House. This means that yes, you might stumble out of someone's bathroom mirror unexpectedly, sorry about that! Once here, everyone will begin accelerated transformations into Monsters or Witches, but unfortunately, their presence here is not so tied down as proper Mirrorbound, and by June 1st, they will all vanish back into the mirrors around the city. ICly they will know their stay is tentative, but no one will know exactly when they'll disappear.

Still, that's plenty of time to explore a little, or reunite with old friends.

Aefenglom is a sex-friendly, panfandom fantasy game, set in the post-apocalyptic world of Geardagas. Character choices can affect overarching plot, and the characters' ultimate goal will be to help rebalance the world by stopping the growth of the Cwyld, a magical blight infecting both the land and inhabitants living in places left unprotected. There are many things to learn about the world and how it came to be along the way that will help in discovering both the cause of the Cwyld and how to get home.

Possibly Bringing: Tsolmon Avagnar (Final Fantasy XIV | OC)

Tell Us More: One of the many Warriors of Light floating around, Tsolmon is a... very emotional young woman. She's short-tempered and she tends to feel a lot and deeply, and vastly prefers fighting than actually talking to people. Unless she's comfortable around you, which is rare, she tends to be blunt and borderline rude. Her background is a complicated mess, having been conscripted into the enemy army when she was young and only recently broke free of that before having the mantle of hero thrust upon her. Tsolmon is, however, a kindhearted and determined woman who genuinely aspires to help others and pretty much loves the few friends she has.

Tsolmon is also a Ninja/Warrior main, so little lizard with big axe.

Choice: Witch

Basic Plans: Nothing set in stone yet, probably being a general menace since she's still borderline feral. Some bitching about being transported to some random ass world again (she'll be brought from patch 5.2!) and be a little weirded out that she has magic now, since she actually has no talent for it whatsoever in her canon. I'm just basically very open to anything!!

Possibly Bringing: Kirei Kotomine (Fate/)
Tell Us More: He'd either be from HF route (my favorite route for him), his Mapo Ramen version, or not Kirei Kotomine at all but his AI-version.

But details on each version. (laughs) HF!Kirei is Neutral Evil. He's lived his entire life wondering why he exists because he has high moral code but loves watching people suffer. This doesn't make him happy; he's generally always suffering due to what brings him joy. He knows himself to be a broken person and wants to strangle God with his bare hands and ask why!

Mapo Tofu Kirei comes from a world where his God is dead. His quest is over because he has no one that he has to ask. So he opens up a mapo-tofu shop and just runs it to his heart's content. He's given up on most of his shenanigans and living HONESTLY the best out of all Kirei versions.

AI!Kirei is not Kirei Kotomine, but an AI generated to look like him. He has all of Kireis memories and recognizes all the timelines that his other self took. He's much different. He's sarcastic and a little sadistic but overall a relatively helpful NPC that grows somewhat fond of the MC of Fate/Extra.

Basic Plans: Dance around like the asshole that he is before peacing out.
Anything Else: Given how he is as a character... or really just how important/volatile a situation that he can cause (not just in his own canon cast, but like in general; the man lives to set things on fire), if it'd cause too much of an uproar, I'd hold back and bring someone else! So, if I get cold feet, I might right, hahaha.

Tell Us More: Oh boy, there's a lot to unpack here.

Katarina was an otaku in a previous life, who died tragically and was reincarnated into her favorite otome game, but as the villainess! Her goals in life are to 1) not die, and 2) not be exiled.

In trying to fulfill these goals, she's managed to get everyone she's ever talked to to fall in love with her. She's also really dense, so she doesn't realize it. One time, she asked someone if they had someone they liked, and when they responded 'I only adore you,' she insisted that she meant romantically.

Her hobbies (despite being a duke's daughter), are farming and making toy snakes. She's been making toy snakes for awhile, so she's very good at it. They look very lifelike.
Choice: Witch! She has magic in canon. She can make a whole dirt bump.
Basic Plans: Anything and everything! I want her to throw a toy snake at one person, at least. Also, all will be absorbed into the harem. All is bakarina.

Oh wow, this is an unexpected but very pleasant surprise. This was the manga that introduced me to the villainess reincarnation genre that I generally enjoy very much. I am excited to watch her bumble her way through this month.

The director of the Mankai Company, curry addict, and long-suffering unofficial mother of a bunch of dumb boys. She's sweet and good and very snarky.

Turducken;
Turducken is a funeral director who owns a funeral hall named "Nirvana". With a smile on her face, she beautifies the bodies of the dead and then, humming a happy song, sends them off to be cremated or buried. In her eyes, death is the first step in a new life, and so she gives the dead her sincere blessings. However, due to her tall stature and because she's often seen wandering around graveyards dressed all in black, many people think she is an extremely dangerous Food Soul.

Haenyo;
A deep water dwelling shapeshifter. Curious and generally friendly, it's easy to forget she isn't human until she starts talking about expanding territory by killing your neighbour or tearing into meat with long, needle-like teeth. Blind and exclusively carnivorous, definitely a subscriber to the idea of "survival of the fittest".

Choice: Witch for all of them, tbh!
Basic Plans:
Izumi; She is going to try to find all the curry spices and make good Aefenglom curry. It's very important. Or maybe she'll just hang around the new theatres.

Turducken; Definitely going to end up looking for any souls she might need to send to the afterlife, will probably chill in a graveyard all night.

Haenyo; a lot of checking out the city, probably diving into the river and exploring the waters there. Also probably ending up in the Wilde.

Tell Us More: Goth boy reads poetry and no one really wants him to. Is the human part of a half-demon who didn't want him anymore. Is like 40 days old. Has no practical experience at anything and just bluffs his way through it with determination, sarcasm, and arrogance.

Basic Plans: Honestly, being kind of a jerk and wondering which of you would be good replacements for the familiars he loses coming in. Playing around with the local magic and wondering if that might actually be a better version than the limited options he has 'back home'. Back home was in the midst of being destroyed by a giant demonic plant, if he's here for a minute maybe some of the research being done on the Cwyld would be relevant to his needs...

Tell Us More: Flynn is a knight with a strong desire to change the laws in his country to help equalize the playing field between the nobility and the poor. He comes from the impoverished district of the capitol city, and he's very much a Lawful Good type character. His best friend is pretty much his exact opposite, and the two of them learn to accept their different views of justice and mend their relationship. Overall, Flynn is the type to be... oblivious to people hitting on him. As well as never drinking when he believes himself to be on duty.

Choice: Probably Witch? The other option I have for him is Harpy, but we'll see!

Basic Plans: I'm gonna be playing fast and loose with Flynn if I bring him in, so hit me with your best shot!

Possibly Bringing: Reno (Final Fantasy VII remake)
Tell Us More: Reno is a member of the Turks (kind of like federal investigator in layman terms I guess) who treats his job seriously even if he doesn't really look the part. He's a sly and cocky bastard. Deadpan snarker exhibiting devil-may-care kind of lazy but actually v. loyal. The Turks excel at dirty work and he does proceed accordingly to that reputation (manipulation, persuasion, interrogation, all on the resume) and has done some truly heinous shit so def. not a good person, but is surprisingly chill outside of the work hours. I suppose the canon point could be either OG/compilation or the remake— I am Remake leaning because of all these juicy bits added (give me that moral dilemma).

Possibly Bringing: Haru (Beastars)
Tell Us More: Haru is from a world where everyone is a furry and society is structured around how herbivores & carnivores could live together peacefully. [Insert Zootopia reference here blah blah blah].
I play from the manga so I will be playing Haru from pretty well beyond what the anime left off, but all you really need to know about her is that she's a small herbivore with a big personality, and wants to be seen as an equal and not some cute small thing to be pitied.
Choice: Leaning towards witch because she's already not human...but Fae or Puca are the two monsters I'm considering (though Puca will be such a limited change for her appearance).
Basic Plans: I don't go here, but I was thinking about it the last app round, saw how wild and crazy the last app round got with hitting its limit with record timing, so obviously didn't app. But this fourth wall event will be a good time to see how I could potentially vibe with the game.
Since I don't exactly know many people here let me know if you'd be interested in bouncing off this bunny if I do have time to participate.

Tell Us More: IN A WORLD where pretty much everyone has some kind of superpower or ability, ALL MIGHTO was the best of the best. The world's greatest hero, the Symbol of Peace, a ginormous ham who was admired, feared and respected the whole world over... but he's way past his prime and his powers are pretty much gone now. Oops. He's passed his ability down and was forced into retirement after one last battle and is now trying to make his way in the world when he's used to nonstop action all day.

Basic Plans: He would definitely leap in to doing what he could to help people, but his aptitude for magic? Not all that great. He's used to being able to punch things hard. Could be fun to play with.

Tell Us More: Zack is a SOLDIER 1st class who at one point worked together with Sephiroth and also knew Cloud. He's extremely loyal and holds on to the idea of honor. Very skilled in combat, Zack went through a lot of wacky things prior to the events of FF7, original game and otherwise. In many ways he's incredibly open and charming, laughs a lot and tries to lighten up the mood - not to mention encourage others to be their best. He is also 100% a country boy... listen,,

Tell Us More: Guardian Corps turned l'Cie. She's a little cold and distant on the surface, but has a heart of gold underneath it all, and does things for the greater good. She's headstrong, stubborn, and a woman on a mission to save her baby sister and to kill a bunch of wannabe-gods.

Basic Plans: I had Lightning here for a few months at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020 but had to take a break from playing her for a while, but now that her voice is back, I'd love to throw her into the setting again! Probably seeking out old CR that she knew from her time here, but I'll probably just throw her around. She'll definitely be very grumpy about being back, though!

Possibly Bringing: Zack Fair (Compilation of Final Fantasy VII)
Tell Us More: Zack is primarily featured in a prequel game to the original FFVII, but he's a friendly guy with a big heart who got involved in an organization called SOLDIER at a fairly young age and rocketed through to the highest rank (First Class). This means he's been treated with mako which has given him super-soldier enhancements. Despite all this, things very quickly fall apart around him. He's been through a lot by the point I'm thinking of taking him from (spoilers: post-death), so he isn't as exuberant as he once was, but he's a good guy.
Choice: Leaning toward monster because it sort of goes with a trend in his canon, though not sure which type of monster just yet!
Basic Plans: Nothing too concrete! Just want to test the waters of what playing in the game is like. Zack will have a lot to contend with given the cast that's already in-game, but he'll also be curious enough to go poking around and figure out how he's ended up here. It'll be bittersweet to realize he's here on borrowed time, given what he's going back to. (As a note, I was between him and Tifa, but I'm still working on Tifa's canon review, so it'll be Zack for now!)

Tell Us More: Tifa is a bartender and member of Avalanche, an eco-terrorist group looking to save the planet and stop how the Shinra Group uses mako for their own ends. She's a hand-to-hand fighter and all around kind-hearted person who struggles with the moral issues around wrecking the company that's supplying energy/resources to the people while also abusing the planet.

Primrose is a dancer who used to be a nobleman's daughter. When her father is murdered and she's left alone, she dedicates her life to finding her father's killers. She has a wry sense of humor and is warm to people she considers friends, but she also has No Chill Whatsoever and will wreck your shit if necessary.
Choice: Likely Witch for Primrose, undecided for Tifa!
Basic Plans: Both of them just basically trying to acclimate and figure things out, help people, make friends, figure out this whole bonded thing...

Tell Us More: Takame here is a stray lost puppy in the form of a grown ass adult. For reals though Takame is very much a follower type of person. He's real stoic like "you can never tell what he's thinking and it's sort of scary" but that's what happens when half your life is spent raised in Imperial occupied Doma and you fight for them. He's a mess of bad habits and impostor syndrome and a huge pushover who can easily be bullied into shenanigans (and may or may not be extremely violent) but he's a super polite and nice boy who would like to be well adjusted and know himself some day.

I should probably note that he's not actually a Warrior of Light, just a regular ol' adventurer
Choice: Monster of some sort. Harpy is eye catching since I feel like Dragon would be too uh. On The Nose. As much as I would love it. :(
Basic Plans: quiet sobbing Trying to figure out what the mcheck is going on and finding anything or anyone familiar that he can, someone help him. For real though, not entirely sure I'll probably just play it by ear.

Possibly Bringing: Kainé (NieR: Gestalt)
Tell Us More: Unwelcome in her own hometown, Kainé is a solitary woman who spends much of her time hunting down monsters called Shades, or she did before she got caught up in going on a friendship adventure with a devoted dad, a mouthy dictionary and a sweet skull son. Her time with them has changed her, but she still considers herself unable to fit into any kind of society and feels most at home when she can use violence as an outlet for Reasons, primarily that she is part-Shade herself and has to keep the Shade within her sated in order to maintain control over her own body.
Choice: Witch! Kainé already feels like she could be considered a monster most of the time, so this will give her something new to tackle.
Basic Plans: I'm open to all kinds of things at the moment! I played in Aef briefly with a different character when it first opened and had a great time, and have been looking forward to an opportunity to try Kainé out here, so she will immediately be throwing herself into making the best of her current situation and focusing on adaptation and survival— crankily, most likely. She's not going to be happy about any of this, but she's good at looking after herself, and complaining isn't going to do a whole lot of good. For those who are canon familiar, she'll be coming in following ending D for the purposes of the fourth wall!

Tell Us More: The original Black Coat Dude who appears in the prequel to the prequel of Kingdom Hearts -- KHUX and Back Cover. Almost nothing is known about this guy except he's an ancient Keyblade Master who set events in motion that caused the Keyblade War that Master Xehanort went on and on about for several games. He is a mysterious fellow and a Shitpost in every conceivable way.

Basic Plans: Confuse his castmates! Troll everybody and anybody! Let him adopt you, show you some magic tricks, and maybe wax poetical about Light and Darkness.
