A Tale of Two Cities: OOC Tracker
- Welcome to the OOC post for this month's event! We mentioned on the Plotting Post earlier this week that we'd have one of these, and that we'd like you all to post to it when your characters do anything that might help or harm each situation - and we mean it.
Just find the thread that correlates to what city your characters' actions are in and post using the form below. Each city thread has an example on it to show what we mean and how to do it, so keep it in mind when you're posting your own! While we're leaving this up entirely to player discretion - and we mean that, so please don't ask us - just remember: even small actions can have great consequences.

Overall Effect: Was it overall a positive outcome, or a negative one? You can rate this on a scale of 1 to 5 if you'd like, or leave it ague, like "Somewhat positive" or "Definitely a bad time" and so on. Please explain your reasonings for this as clearly as possible.
Proof: The thread it occurred in; if you have plans for it to happen within a thread you're still currently threading out, then you can link that here instead! You may handwave certain things, but don't expect you'll be able to do that with things that will cause a larger impact (e.g. handwaving rousing speeches vs an insurrection). Remember, even the smallest action can help someone.
The cut-off for posting to this entry is October 3rd, though given our next TDM is set in the future, characters might be seeing effects of their actions a little sooner than that...
As a note, outside of the top level linked to the investigations/plotting post on the Event Log itself, investigations are closed for the month. All that are already present will be tended to, but until October reins it head over no new inquires will be accepted at this time. OOCly this is to ensure we've got everything under control with such a large scale event, ICly this is due to the current state of affairs.
DORCHAHT
EXAMPLE
Choice: Monster
Action: Luis, as a Harpy, took to the skies immediately once within Dorchacht; he found one of the auctioning blocks and acted as a distraction to help them get away. Some of the auctioneers and civilians taking part in the auction were injured or killed in the resulting fray. He was caught and recognized as an emissary from Aefenglom, and while he was returned to the group, it didn't exactly look good for the group.
Overall Effect: Sort of neutral. On one hand, freeing the Monsters is definitely a good thing, but on the other, he was captured and recognized as being from Aef... Aef and Dorch are trying to make nice right now, so seeing that someone from Aef was trying to disrupt things the same way that had happened in the dream probably isn't the best thing that's ever happened? As you can see, this kind of can go both ways.

ABEND TIME
Choice: Witch
Action: With the help of the Resistance, Elliot started a radio program in Dorchacht! The program is called "Abend Time" after a popular radio show in Erebonia. To disguise his voice, Elliot uses an auditory illusion to make his voice sound like Misty, the female radio personality that hosts the real Abend Time (He listened to every episode ok he Knows her voice).
The program is primarily a music program. It plays a wide variety of genres, from classical to rock to ballads to basically whatever other characters submit (most of who are given stage names unless they are bold enough to use their real name). Many of the songs are are harmless songs about the usual topics (love, break ups, dancing, etc), but among these is the occasional song that is supposed to be much more thought-provoking. Calling into question the morality of enslavement, questioning how harmless the compulsion spell is (if it's compelling monsters what's it to stop it from compelling humans?), pointing out the oddity in everyone's apparent forgetfulness from before a decade ago. It's nothing that's very blatant or calls Morgana out by NAME - but it's pointed enough and clearly meant to gently make the citizens question their current situation.
It should also be noted that any songs by Mozart might have enchantment magic laced into them to make them more emotionally poignant. Because of course Mozart would be Extra.
Elliot would try to have as many episodes of Abend Time as possible, but it'd totally depend on how much access he could get to the radio station. Before he leaves at the end of the month, he'll teach Resistance members how to do the audio illusion and let them decide if they want to continue the program on their own.
Overall Effect: THE POWER OF MUSIC IS A CLEAR 10 OUT OF 10. MUSIC REVOLUTION BABY!!!!
But seriously, I would like to think this has a positive effect overall! Abend Time was a very popular show in Erebonia, so emulating it as much as possible and leaning on Misty's charm is bound to endear listeners. Elliot's goal is to expose the Dorchacht citizens to the real power of music by showing them the range of feelings it can cause beyond calming people. His other goal is to also make the citizens wake up a bit more and make them realize that something isn't right with their situation. Elliot is a very talented musician and he's got other very talented musicians helping him out, so the music will definitely be memorable stuff. However how much of an impact this show has ultimately is up to you mods!

Action: she spoke to morgana, agreed with her methods, threw the aefenglom brigade under a bus and is now siding with her to plant the seeds of the black city elsewhere. 🙃
Overall Effect: whispers don’t talk to me about morality. four thinks it’s fantastic and positive excellent a++++ would recommend, but i’d day it’s a three or four (lol) on the bad scale. feel free to correct me to a five.

Warding tats/paint for everyone
Choice: Witch
Action: Caster has been providing improvised warding tattoos that fortify mental resolve, ones that counter attempts of control to the Mirrorbound population. Since he'd mention an interest in learning the runes that resistance uses, one of the espionage team, Archer suggested making contact and trading skills/knowledge.
So in return for learning their warding/dispel enchantments, per Archer suggestion Caster is going to provide runic tattoos to one of the resistance cells. He is also open to giving a quick crash-course on how to paint the runes in a way to enchant flesh if they got a Witch wanting to learn, but it's not like they have a lot of time. Timeline wise, he probably started this somewhere near the end of first dignitaries visit (he's staying for entire month)
Overall Effect: He's hoping it's a positive, as it will give the resistance better another tool for fighting the compulsion. But ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Proof: He agreed for this idea in this thread will add a follow-up as it happens.

Choice: Monster
Action: Under the guise of a Witch, Daenerys made quite a scene in both the pavilion, demanding to know what happened to the slave auction. Many were suspicious of her actions, not indulging her in her questioning.
Additionally, Daenerys snuck out after curfew to explore the Coven's dwellings, to try and find out more about Morgana. She was not sleuthing around properly and was interrogated about her views and her reasons for looking into such things... During this, she allowed herself to become overwhelmed and she discovered she could now breathe fire in fits of anger.
Daenerys was given a personal guard to accompany her the rest of her stay (maybe a week). This also caused many of the Coven to look at her judgmentally and fearfully, as she was clearly a monster (dragon), even. Any chance Daenerys had to be in the good-graces of the Coven as a "fellow Witch" was now gone.
Overall Effect: Maybe mostly negative or indifferent from the Coven's perspective.

Action: Shared/Taught Aefenglom's methods of treating Cwyld to more adept witches within the Resistance.
Overall Effect: Positive, but probably on the lower end of the scale. Mostly its to help have the coven have a little power over the people.

Action: Got a few monsters who were being carted off to the auction free. Elliot disguised his appearance and acted as a really bad recorder player as a distraction while Chandra sneaked the monsters off and got them to the Resistance. Neither of them were caught or identified.
Overall Effect: Positive because freeing slaves and managed not to get caught! Maybe not so positive for the people who had to listen to terrible recorder music.

Action: Maria mostly investigated the city, searching for information, Forbidden Knowledge, and a general tactical overview of the city in case they needed to take things up a notch. She mostly worked as a noble dignitary outside of the resistance - rubbing elbows with others, including slavers in the city, and acting very interested in their customs, wares, and just the city itself. When she was done, she fed whatever information she thought to be relevant to Aefenglom people - whether they then disseminated it to the Resistance is up to them. She also sat in on negotiations, and wanted to make sure people behaved around Morgana especially. Her ultimate goal was against a war; foreign Monsters are of little concern to a Hunter.
Overall Effect: Generally neutral-positive? What Maria did not do is literally any action or any words to free enslaved Monsters directly, so no brownie points for that. She worked to leave a positive impression of Aefenglom, and herself, among the general populace of the city, Morgana, high ranking members of the Coven, and other important people. Both so it was easier to get information, and to try to keep relations positive. If her information was used to aid the resistance, then that's fine - but she did not actively help.

- Maria and Alex specifically sneaking into the auctions to figure out how they work and where their supply lines are. Ongoing.

Action: Yuya and Steven put on some joint music/illusion performances around the streets in Dorchacht and in the resistance's sewer base later in the month when they decide to go rouge instead of going home.
Overall Effect: Ppppositive? Some people in Dorch might not appreciate a fae and a foreign with encouraging people to come have fun, it's probably better for the restsistance's morale. But it does let people meet a fae and see that monsters acting free isn't an inherent danger--and for the resistance, to give them a morale boost and help them hold onto what they're fighting for.

Action: Helped Geralt defend some Resistance Witches from Cwyld-ed beasts while they worked on wall runes, smuggled several Monsters out to the ship.
Overall Effect: Positive, I'd think. The first is a good night's work interrupted, the second is helping some slaves escape.

Action: Lloyd has been inconspicuously sticking his nose in things, collecting information, and passing it to Elliot, who then passes to Resistance contacts. There were pictures of everything the Coven library had on the compulsion spell, although these are less informative than he'd like since the spell itself is basic and widespread. Far more useful is what he's given them on the auction's new location - he's mapped it out, put in notes on where guards are posted, where they patrol and when the shifts change, the routes being used to bring in monsters for sale, et cetera; Lloyd is detail-oriented and a security professional, so I think he'd be able to give more concrete details on these things than many people would!
Overall Effect: Positive for the Resistance, but I leave it to mod judgment exactly how much impact that would have, since he's simply getting the information into NPC hands and letting them ~*~control their own destiny~*~.

Seeds of Change
Choice: Monster
Action: Grew new plants with magic all around Dorchacht!
Related, used the abrupt growing of large, flowering rose bushes to draw attention away from the auctions. With less people attending, he organized for a raid to free slaves to go on simultaneously. He was in the area making a scene, so it might be suspicious, but he also did this several times throughout the month (growing roses and handing them out in bouquets and flower crowns to please locals) without any proximity to raids. He will insist it is coincidence.
Overall Effect: Positive on both counts, I hope! Everett has been trying to liven up the dreary city with plants that thrive in low light, but also bloom or have attractive aesthetics. He hopes they won't die off the moment he's gone. He's let curious locals know how to take care of them, if they want the plants to stay. He's climbed buildings to leave planters on windowsills and rooftops. He leaves very well penned instructions on care with these, as well.
The raid was successful, though it did cause some confusion and drew up guards in response. Everett stayed uninvolved, though he did shelter Daenerys Targaryen for a private conversation while her guard was occupied with the raid.
Proof: Lots of handwaved flower planting throughout the month! He brought seeds to last the first half of the month.

Action: fairly extensive disruption of auctions
Overall Effect: positive for the Resistance and monsters
Proof: all the threads with the header 'awake is overrated'. i didn't anticipate getting quite so many takers, so this turned out to, cumulatively, be a lot of instances in which auctions were impeded - varying from just being aggravating to outright violence and freeing of monsters. as time has gone on through various threads i've explained this as geralt being known to resistance members and working well with them, acting as a nearly full fledged operative.
Action: did some rioting and menacing/violence/murder of those running institutionalized rape basements?? in the rebellion thingy, participated in the back half of get the door team
Overall Effect: i'm gonna say positive based on amount of yikes

Action: Killed a guard, scared another group of guards, and freed a couple of cartfuls worth of monsters. Some small fires were also set. Neither were spotted.
Overall Effect: This was mostly positive. Several monsters were freed, though the guards were hurt, and one was rather brutally killed. The body was destroyed by Chandra after using his blood to fuel a spell. I'm so sorry for her. Let's give this probably a 4 on the good scale, since the only people that might think it's bad are probably bad guys.

Action: Just helping start riots and shit for the Resistance, freeing monsters, etc. He's part of the dignitary team, but he's tried to lay low. Wearing all black when you're a crow harpy helps, but. When he's not being Towa's bodyguard, he's helped stealth around and use his superior vision to spot openings and other things that normal people can't see, which he can then deliver to the resistance. At night he's mostly been sleeping with the other dignitaries so as not to arouse suspicion, but otherwise he's extremely scarce in the public eye.
Overall Effect: Rean's made some positive progress! It's not life-changing, but he's found a real purpose with the resistance and has been fighting like it. He fights well despite his monster changes, so he's best suited for something like a strike team. Get in fast, get the mission over, get out even faster.

Action: Pulling some of the not so dignitaries out of trouble. This was as a distraction, and there was still a negative outcome, but she was able to at least go "keep it down so you won't be caught by the police" bit.
Overall Effect: Likely it cancels each other out and makes it neutral! A fight almost started but it was put out. So not so bad.

Action: Did some singing on the streets with the theme of "freedom" with Asura acting as her "bonded dragon" about an hour per day over the course of a few weeks. They gave very sappy answers too about why not collar but Friendship is truly magic.
Overall Effect: Vaguely positive? I mean. If you got people sing Queen, it's always positive.

Action: In disguise, she shielded Azira so he was able to put monsters for sale to sleep, then hid them via illusion so they could tip the resistance as to where their comrades were, and confuse the guards.
Overall Effect:So far positive? No ones died or is even hurt so. So far so good!

Action: elliot gave him a disguise to go do him!!! before blasting of butts and mild break ups between the two, eren went off and tortured a slaver for information. killed him afterwards to make it look like the own man’s doing. withheld the information to do some studying, then told the resistance when he felt it right to. told the mirrorbound afterwards. rebellion 🙌
Overall Effect: good....??? he killed a guy with a family :( and sort of kept things to himself for a bit but it helped the resistance get their upper hand!

Action: Entrapta has been assisting the Resistance and her fellow Mirrorbound with magitech, including some illusion/disguise devices and building off of tech the Resistance has been implementing (or trying to implement) already.
Overall Effect: One the one hand: positive! As discussed here she would have been able to make significant improvements to several aspects of the Resistance's magitech, most notably the radio hijacking facilities.
On the other hand, however, I have been warned that her endeavours with radio hijacking could potentially have the side effect of a magic blackout, and Entrapta will not be making any effort to avoid something like that because she'd like to see that happen for herself – if anything she will be deliberately beefing up the magic usage to encourage that outcome. That said, I have no idea whether the ultimate result of something like that would be a blanket positive or negative!
Proof: Asking for help collecting materials for her work; finetuning the radio with Elliot; getting some help from Morgan with putting the radio together.

Action: Bucky and Steve gave training in guerilla warfare, group combat tactics, self-defense, etc. to Resistance recruits, with the intent to give them more tools to take back their city themselves.
Overall Effect: Positive! The Caps have a lot of experience to share and if the Resistance members have better training, they'll be able to handle themselves better without another city's intervention.

Action: Worked on an enchantment with Yako to dispel the compulsion without implicating the Resistance, made bracelets with the spell inscribed inside and distributed them among the Mirrorbound, helped Rich free some Monsters from auction, helped Dorchacht civilians to safety during the revolution.
Overall Effect: Overall positive, I think. Helping civilians during the chaos may help endear the people to Aefenglom, and his and Yako's spell helped to free at least some people.

MUSICAL ACTIVISM/INSPIRATION | ASSISTING ELLIOT WITH "ABEND TIME"
Choice: Monster (Fae)
Action: Musical Inspiration and Activism. During the first half of the month, Steven was working alongside the dignitaries, using his musical abilities to perform on Dorchacht's streets and sing songs that cast the idea of monsters and monster/human relations in a positive light. Some of the songs are self composed, about things he's witnessed in Geardagas, but others are stuff like folk love songs written about monsters from Aefenglom. The Coven may not have been interested in talking to them, but that didn't mean he couldn't send his own message! As a Fae, the locals have been dismissive in not outright hostile towards him, but he has continued to perform all over the city regardless, for the entire duration of his dignitary stay. During this part of the month, he made a point of extending courtesy and kindness to locals, and refrained from using his illusions for any kind of trickery beyond showing pretty imagery during his performances. Ultimately, it has been the 'Fae aren't so bad, right?' tour through the city. He's teamed up with other Aefenglom musician to do this as well, including performing as a duo with Yuya frequently, showing how a Witch and a Monster can work together peacefully.
In the second hand of the month, Steven swaps to the the underground, staying with the Resistance and performing for them instead. His support of monsters and monster/human relations becomes even more explicit, and his music takes on more of a rallying cry and inspirational tone than a mediating one. He performs in the sewers to lift spirits and inspire passion, and works alongside Elliot to perform for the Resistance Radio, along with helping as an assistant and gofer for whatever is needed to keep things running smoothly. When he isn't performing or running errands for people, he's using his illusions to conceal Resistance operations and keep new escapees safe.
Overall Effect: Positive, ultimately! Some locals have gotten REAL MAD about Steven performing and it's probably brushed close to physical violence (or would have if not for Morgana's commands to leave the dignitaries alone) and has certainly crossed into verbal insults/harassments, but his persistent patience and kindness has probably made an impression. Of course, some people may think he is simply trying to lure them into a trap with honeyed words, but some, especially the younger generation, may be genuinely touched by this positive impression of Fae. It may even make them question their treatment of other forms of monsters, even if they cannot yet stand up against their parents. Steven is most effective at reaching out to other children and teenagers, as his peers.
In terms of the Resistance, his efforts probably cross over into very positive, because they are more or less ready to drink in his heartfelt positivity. With Elliot's help getting his message out there, that impact will only be made greater. Even before he joined the Resistance, secret operatives had noticed his efforts around the city, so he was somewhat familiar to them right from the start of his stay.
Proof:
- Steven and Yuya street performing for the first time and sweeping a Dorcha girl off her feet. This become a repeat performance during their Dignitary and Resistance time.
- Dragon (Rich) and Fae (Steven) combine to form the ultimate power duo, harmlessly performing monster love songs in contrast to expectations.
- Elliot recruits Steven to resistance radio! Steven commits to performing for it secretly during Dignitary time and then swaps over to full time once his shift is up.
REVOLUTION!!! | TEAM DARK HORSE
Choice: Monster (Fae)
Action: Aiding the operations of the Resistance in the latter half of the month, culminating in heavy participation within Eren's 'take the city' plans, mostly in the form of freeing and escorting child monsters from the orphanages and also their secret, horrifyingly mistreated breeding parents. His illusions have been his greatest asset here, concealing operations from outside eyes and providing disguises, making it much easier to escort freed monsters and children to safety. He also tries to help sooth some of the damage adult monsters from the breeding prison, but the absolute horror of the whole situation causes him to have a bit of a mental breakdown during that part. He manages to get himself moving again after a while but at a reduced capacity, since he's in a state of shock.
Afterwards, when most of the hard work is over, he will sooth newly released captives with music. But that's once they are done liberating people and he's had some time to calm down.
Overall Effect: Positive. He helps a lot when it comes to the orphans/child monsters. He escorts a lot of freed monsters to safety during the raids, using his illusions. He helps with the adult monsters in the Terror Basement also, but said mental breakdown means he is somewhat less effective. He does pull it together enough to keep using illusions (especially invisibility because disappearing is exactly what he feels like doing at that point) but he's a little dazed.
The music will be nice, in comparison. Once he's calmed down, he'll be able to help with comforting escapees a bit better.

- Steven during the revolution. Mostly it's him freaking out, but hey, he does other stuff before that.

Action: Revolutionnnn
He joined the resistance midmonth because fuck Mograna, and joined in with the efforts to free the captive monsters in the orphanages and get them into the resistance's arms. He went about this trying to be gentle and reassuring to the monsters and human children they rescue.
Overall Effect: POSITIVE this is positive right.

Action: During the first half of the month, Asura ventured to Dorchacht as part of the dignitary team. After meeting with an unsuccessful attempt at drawing away one of Morgana's personal guards, and easily tiring of the library, Asura largely took his attempts at being a dignitary to Dorchacht's streets and the public at large. Together with Sokie, he held impromptu music performances (singing about freedom and a lot of Queen) in residential areas of the city for smaller crowds. If any locals took to the music, Asura took their names to either the Resistance or sympathizers, wanting to help them canvas for potential new recruits to strengthen their numbers.
Later, Asura helped free monsters from holding blocks (with Aziraphale), aided with weakening the enchantment on Dorchacht's big old onyx wall (with Fang), and brazenly killed a lot of auctioneers and Resistance opposition in the player-lead plot at the end of the month. During the latter, he didn't really bother with hiding himself or going stealth. :') On the flip side, he did end up throwing himself into the thick of things to save civilians as well as monsters during the fires.
Overall Effect: Good on the Resistance's end of things, pretty bad for the Dignitary side.
Proof: Music, freeing monsters and leaving a bit of hope behind, vandalizing the wall, fulfilling a promise to return for monsters left behind, and player-event.
HARTS & MINDS
Choice: Monster (Faun)
Action: Myr's activities up until the uprising were primarily focused on spreading good will among the citizens of Dorchacht: Aiding those least well-off in the city, brightening the environment with gifts of flowers and foliage grown wherever there was room, and politely but firmly pressing the cause of giving Monsters their will back (while being willing to concede that yes, there's a danger in doing that, but it's worth the trade-off). With respect to the Coven: He was taken in for a Cwyld infection and absolutely fought having blood magic used on him to heal it, ... then despite being very upset about that turned around to ask about the comatose individuals and offer whatever advice he might have on dream-walking to help them. Bipolar Faun much, Myr.
He hooked up with the Resistance briefly and...tried...to help with distributing some of their literature, but was quickly made by a guard he'd encountered (and absolutely terrified by coming back from the dead) during the dream, so no points awarded there.
During the uprising, he was on Team Gift Horse and focused on getting civilians away from the fires. As well as, periodically, taking the opportunity to spring a bound Monster from control with a dispelling rune. While he kinda-sorta tried to make that look accidental he didn't do the best job of it and at least one family got very upset he'd made off with their Turnskin.
Overall Effect: Net small positive for the cause of FREEDOM and Aefenglom demonstrating their (mostly) good will, though he no doubt caused bad feelings by separating Witches and Monsters during the uprising. That's theft! And while he was not identified as helping the Resistance, he was looking really shifty around the pavilion and there's at least one guard who's completely convinced he, and by extension the entire dignitary team, was up to no good.

Team Door - aka finding secrets in the Coven
Choice: Witches, Monsters
Action: Tl;dr Action were taken against the secret door during riots in Coven and discoveries were made — those discoveries were also given Nessie and resistance
Now onto the long version. Caster and Zelda tracked enchantment in the walls to the mysterious door in the Coven. Research was commenced, along with information sharing on network, and group formed. Overall Effect: No idea! Well at least both Nessie and Dorchacht resistance now know that Wall Enchantment is most likely powered by comatose Witches, tattoes with enchanted ink. Also their memories probably power the enchantment too. Sweet dreams.

Action: Freed harpy belonging to a book merchant that supplies and prints books on magic to Coven.
Overall Effect: Positive, although probably not that big. The harpy is going to be sent to resistance hideout (and if resistance wants to use intel on book stuff, to IDK set it on fire then you know, they can do that).

Choice: Witch + Monster (respectively ofc)
Action: Yako did most of the effort here, as described in her top-level: she went through more run-down areas of the city and helped the people there with various needs, ranging from offering them enchanted ornaments to help freshen the air of their gross dank houses to mending both people and broken items with magic. This extends to some other threads she has, too, which is why I link her top-level below. However, as they are now Bonded, Soren helped her in ways available to him, such as improving her magic and distributing some of the items she enchanted. They demonstrated good teamwork and respected each other as equals.
Overall Effect: Positive! The effects were not so dramatic as an insurrection, but they improved the lives of the have-not members of Dorschacht's society in small but meaningful ways, kindling positive relationships with them and giving off a good impression of these dignitaries from Aefenglom. With Soren and Yako in particular, there was an element of their Bond to it. They provided a refreshing example of how Witch-Monster Bonds could operate, and without a collar. And yes, Soren even allowed himself to be harassed by children to that end... He tried to be on his best behavior, since the last thing they need is to keep propagating the stereotype that monsters are mean, dangerous, and need to be controlled.

Newt did a plethora of things while in Dorchacht.
He did a lot of digging for information, but didn't do it by any questionable methods. He checked out the library and heard whatever was on the streets or in the bars.
Newt's main thing was smuggling Monsters out or helping any Monsters in need. This was done throughout the month using his briefcase, which was expanded inside. Newt does well to blend in and his usual demeanor makes him seem insignificant. It makes it easier for him to walk by without much notice as he isn't much of a head turner.
During the rebellion, he was very active and getting the Monsters and children out of the orphanages as safely as possible. He also wanted to make sure that any civilians trapped in the chaos got to safer areas and out of harm's way.
Overall Effect: I would consider the assisting Monsters to be neutral (positive towards the Resistance) since he obviously did his best to try and be discreet about it. Monster sympathizers are probably to hear that Monsters are getting away somehow with those who are deep into the Dorchacht mindset being rather aghast that Monsters are escaping somehow.
Assisting civilians amongst the chaos would be seen as a positive thing, as it's impossible to tell who Newt aligns himself with but still willingly assisting people for their safety.
