CR & PLOTTING: AUGUST

CR & PLOTTING: AUGUST

While July might've been a little hectic on the real life side of things (show of hands for everyone who's grateful August is here now), in-game, it was a little bit more lowkey. With the weather reaching its peak in summer, a few Witches decided to bring it down a notch - or several, resulting in a fairly snowy month. A last minute snowstorm stirred up at the end, leaving the cold to roll into August's early weeks - mind yourselves, everyone!

The weather aside, the city and its people didn't take too much of a break. The Coven, deciding that a follow up on the cave was necessary, especially with the discovery of a ley-line beneath it, put out a request to help get Smugha Cave into more suitable base order. They were immensely grateful for the help they received, too; not everyone in the Coven is trained to handle what the Wilde can dish out. With the area better secured, they turn their eyes to the next part of their plan to establish a firm foothold in the Wilde: connecting directly to the ley-line, creating an anchor point for teleportation. Amidst this, Nerissa Bell - head of the Coven - called for a bit of a meeting for everyone who could attend, just for everyone to share any information, queries, and so on - if they'd like, or if they could. With those major points out of the way...

Quest: Special Training

As more than a few of you have already noticed, a quest log will be going up on August 9th for some training by the Wilders. While not exactly an event proper, this will be an opportunity for characters to head into the deeper part of the Wilde in a similar fashion to the last one in June for the exploration of Smugha Cave. We won't spoil too many details for all of you, but just like the last one, it might have some connection to a place in the last dream everyone got to have - that is, July's TDM. Sign-ups are on-going and open to everyone, so if it piques your interest now or when the log goes up, feel free to toss your character up there!

Event: The Black City

Speaking of shared dreams: no points for guessing what our next event log is. Like clockwork, characters will fall asleep on the night of the 16th regardless of if they can truly sleep or need to - and awaken in a dream. They'll find themselves within a city not unlike Aefenglom in structure, but with a major difference: there aren't any Monsters walking freely. Instead, they're leashed and collared, heads lowered in submission - and those who have Monster traits coming in will find they're under the same curse as these ones: they have to obey every order that comes from a Witch's mouth, whether it's a joke or not. Attempting to fight it will give them pain, nausea, and other adverse effects in increasing intensity until they give in, or until the Witch lifts their order.

And just like in the last shared dream, as well as the TDMs, a character's rate of transformation and the number of spells/how powerful they are can be played with - it is a dream, after all!

spaghettimonster: (NOTHING THE GREAT PAPYRUS CAN'T HANDLE)

Papyrus | Undertale | Monster (turnskin)

Player Name: Swirl
Pronouns: they/them
Contact: PM me here or [personal profile] swirlingflight for best results
Timezone: I work second shift so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Character Name: Papyrus
Canon: Undertale
Appearance: Initial appearance, a cool skeleton, looking anything from this to this to this depending on your preferred realism goggles, with transformation tracking here here. Basically - he's got wolf-like fangs and claws, his eyesockets do that thing where animal eyes reflect light in some bright color, and he's starting to grow some fur on his spine and feet.
Brief: Loud, somewhat passive aggressive, aggressively optimistic skeleton monster. The sort to customize a 00 jersey into a C00L DuDE shirt, and it's probably symbolic of his choices to try to be more optimistic and encouraging and comforting than he innately is. Barely sleeps, hangs out in his room playing with action figures and chatting at people online. Wants popularity and respect, in a weird mix of ways he falls over trying to be what others want and ways he doesn't change for anybody. Loves showing off cool combat maneuvers, perfectly willing to knock people unconscious, doesn't want to kill anybody. Trying to come to terms with being in a strange world without his magic and turning into a canine.
Choice: Monster - Turnskin (werewoof)

Event Plans:
- Wilder Training Quest on the 9th, because he needs help facing his fears and learning how to fight like this - without magic, with a changing body and new instincts.
- Speed dating, he's joining in search of friendship and hopefully someone who seems like a good match, the better to steady him and help some witch to not explode.
- Being a monster in the upcoming dream, which means the fun times of being compelled to do what witches say. I'm hoping for problems, between player witches giving instructions (whether accidentally or intentionally), NPC witches being problems so heroic witches can swoop in to the rescue, and just commisserating with fellow monsters.

Plus various quest promps, like:
- Searching around town for pygmy jacks
- Searching around town for the things for Arwel's shop, and then experimenting with the charmed scarf he gets from it (probably the one that makes him look like an old lady)
- Continuing his current scribing jobs
- Continuing to bring the gift of his company, and some resources, to the people outside the city walls. He feels bad for them, stuck living with something that's changing them while they're in a strange place, and he wants to help them (in the ways he's also trying to help himself)

General Plans:
- Making more friends
- Making some enemies / petty bickering rivalries
- People to play fetch with him around the full moon
- Forming some CR close enough to form bonds (whether full moon stopgaps, temporary experiments or longterm)

... Rich has always wanted a dog...

Real talk though, I definitely need these two to bond, and I'd like Rich to try to warn poor Pap about the SQUIP if at all possible, because he. Gets being desperate to be liked and he doesn't want a Japanese tic tac taking advantage of that.

The dog part is very part time, but fetch is any time.

Yeahhhh, Papyrus and SQUIP have had some interaction, and so far Papyrus was mostly going "teach me your ways, you sound so knowledgeable - and so sure you're knowledgeable." Not quite starry-eyed hero worship or anything, but prone to listen, especially since he isn't gossiping about all his acquaintances with anybody right now.

HELL YEAH FETCH IS ALL THE TIME.

Fair enough! Rich is gonna keep an eye on the SQUIP for sure, so if he notices anything super bad he might warn Pap, but until he notices he'll keep out of it!

I feel really bad for dropping the ball with our thread a while back, so I'd love to do something with these two if possible. Maybe something to do with the scarf? Look, just let her be a good citizen and walk this old lady-totally not a skeleton across the road.

Although she would also be the type to swoop in and be the hero if he's being pushed around, hmm...

I understand, a lot of people had trouble through July!

The scarf thing could be a fun way to reveal This Is A Skeleton to her. I know it puts a visual over them, I'm not sure if the illusions extend to the tactile... She might take the old lady's hand only to discover it's got gloves with claws caps, and discover the skeletal truth a few tags in.
