Hello, thank you for joining us, and welcome to Aefenglom! You can jump in and begin playing whenever you'd like. This mini-round of new characters will arrive in the Looking-Glass House at 3 am on Octeuril 15th and take the Coven somewhat by surprise. For now though, it's time to mingle and make friends, grab some CR, check out some quests, and get hopping!

To help get this all started, we've got a nifty form for everyone to fill out! Feel free to keep this either to one comment, or to split it in two - it's your choice.

Appearance: i can't believe I haven't done a full body of his normal appearance what the hell. 5'8" (FOR NOW) brunet, slim, often serious or somber. Have some busts! He'll be sparkly soon enough, though.
Brief: 17-going-on-18-year-old whose life got flipped turned upside down about six months ago; his house burned down around him and he's the only survivor of his family. Discovered magical powers, fought some monsters, found out the guy who took him in is actually the enemy. He liked that guy a lot, too! It sucks.

He usually tries very hard to pretend that he's Just Fine Thanks but upon learning that he's going to be Transforming and possibly Going Mad that's not going to happen. Very polite most of the time, tries his best to help people, rarely in a patronizing way. Secretly thinks he's better than most other people, but you'll never get him to say that out loud. He's likely to be serious for a while, and if anyone can manage a genuine smile out of him that'll be a real accomplishment!

Seeking/Offering: He's going to be having a hard time, and pretty much immediately looking for Bonds, long term and/or temporary. Please help him from losing his mind thanks!! Don't mind him being a little desperate.

Otherwise, he'll be doing a lot of research to try to catch up with whatever the hell is going on here. Throwing himself aggressively into the issue is the only way he knows how to cope. I'd love research buddies, people to point him in the right direction, or just people to try to reassure him it's not so bad. (Or make him panic more! That's fun too.)

Brief: Did you ever ask yourself what would happen if the local perfect poster boy found a secret Death Note that allows him to kill anyone from a distance and decides to use it to make the world a perfect peaceful place but instead, he gets in a battle of wits with a genius detective and starts down a slippery slope of murder and mayhem? Either way, here's your answer. Light is outwardly charming and perfect in many ways, and he does have some kind of justice, but he's willing to twist it as he needs to. Luckily, the Death Note isn't coming with him so he's not going to have to be as vicious to cover his secret. He'll be a witch.

Brief: The 21 year old cook/chef of the Straw Hats pirate crew. Somehow both extremely coolheaded and yet short-tempered at the same time. Sanji is a bit a ladies man and pervert, while often being short and rude to the guys, but beneath that, he's an extremely empathetic and kind individual, usually lending his help to others. He has a strict moral policy that he sticks by, involving some bits like never hitting a lady or never letting anyone starve from hunger, be it friend or foe.

Oh yeah. He's had a really awful past and don't call him a Vinsmoke. He'll get pretty angry otherwise.

Seeking/Offering: Sanji here is a vampire and pretty much lost most of his fighting prowess from his world. He's definitely going to struggle drinking blood to sedate his hunger, so any help with that would be great! Adjusting is going to be difficult for him.

Otherwise, I'd love for any and all CR with him! Especially people who are chefs/own a restaurant, younger characters for him to protect, guys to argue with and eventually befriend, people with also difficult backstories-- I'm excited for you all!

Appearance: creepy guy in a hood and mask. Pry them off and he's currently a fairly decent looking blond! I.. will put a screenshot somewhere if I remember.
Brief: Lahabrea is one of the immortal and broadly amoral Ascians, and once upon a time Speaker for the Convocation. He's also a few apples short of a cornucopia thanks to a very bad habit of switching bodies at the same rate most people change shirts; this puts a terrible strain on the mind and soul and causes significant erosion of both. He is arrogant, prideful, prone to being convinced he's always right all of the time and seems completely incapable of realizing he's capable of failure. Probably he hates nearly everyone he encounters, for a myriad reasons. He is bitter, hostile and still dealing with the effects if his world ending thousands of years ago. In short, he's rather unpleasant to be around; even his own kind have reservations about dealing with his bullshit generally.

Losing his power and station to get turned into an alien beast is really going to go over poorly.
Seeking/Offering: I am looking for any and all CR! As Lahabrea is a zillion year old asshole who is going to make his own life astronomically harder than it has to be through the sheer power of uncooperativeness, this is probably going to result in a lot of negative CR, but I'm thrilled with the idea of building something positive too. Whether he likes it or not.

As he has become a dragon, he's going to need bonds as soon as possible but is likely to fight that the whole way too, because nothing can ever be easy. I admit fully that getting Lahabrea's cooperation is going to be difficult, but I am completely open to abusing the hell out of his new instincts to make things work out once they begin. You want to do a thing, let's make it happen.

As Lahabrea is absolutely not everyone's cup of tea, I have a permissions and opt out.

Brief: Klaus is one of seven children adopted by a sociopathic alien who raised them as 'superheroes' with the end goal of saving the world from an apocalypse. Predictably, none of that went well. Klaus' 'superpower' was seeing terrifying spirits, which he hated, and the fact that being inebriated stopped him from seeing them has given him a nearly life-long addiction problem. He's currently two days clean, though. Opt-out of drug talk or playing with him at all here, I can absolutely tag you without mentioning his addictions.

He's a Witch. That's gonna be a lot more pleasant than seeing ghosts.

He'll be incredibly thrown in arriving here without Kadaj and Loz, will be struggling to accept the version of Sephiroth that's here already, and it might take him a little while to really understand that Mother isn't here to give him a purpose.

Yazoo has absolutely no experience re: existing on his own and I'm really looking forward to getting to play out some self discovery! Since he's brand-spanking new I'm looking for slightly more generic things at the moment, such as:

Brief: Still a hotheaded idiot, Steak comes to you this time as a Witch, because it is gonna cause him way more trouble than physical transformations and I have Plans. A million, probably embarrassing for him, plans. Aside from that, he is a confident, battle-loving (apparently) young man who likes to show off his abs in his armour (a choice I constantly question because that just seems like a bad idea in battle) who gets on well with people who are willing to argue with and challenge him.

Seeking/Offering:
He is going to need someone to convince him to go to the Coven for magic lessons, or someone to teach him magic themselves, because he is... dubious about the Coven's intent and not exactly thrilled about the idea of having to take lessons there.

He is definitely gonna need a new bond, so I would be looking for someone he could respect and trust enough to undergo that particular path, since he treats bonds the way he treats finding a Master Attendant (as in he waited for literal centuries before finding one).

People he can let his guard down around! Last time, he didn't really get into the kind of comfortable, easygoing swing of things that he can manage (partially thanks to canon giving me sweet fuck all to go off of when it comes to non-work, non-Knights interactions) and I want people he brohugs! People he laughs and drinks with.

Brief: Yuri is the protagonist of shadow hearts, a sadly little known PS2 series that includes shadow hearts covenant. he has a sad childhood (as is typical with these types), is basically a vagrant who roams around, especially after his girlfriend died (she defended his soul against a big floating evil...mask..thing.), he transforms into RANDOM DEMONS so this won't be a new thing for him.

he's a doofus, but loyal. he says the first thing that pops in his head but he cares a lot about people and protecting them. he's quick to just jump into a fight but never for his own selfish gain. he's come a long way from the rude hero he once was.

also he came in carrying some half naked man porn. be sure to talk to him about it. he's kinda 15 inside and if you have a lady with skin showing he will be an idiot until they smack him up the head, do this plz.

Seeking/Offering: Witchy friends! Monster pals! She'll need to bond eventually, and she's easygoing enough that she'll agree to a bond pretty quick if the subject comes up. I've ended up using a PB with him rather than going with a set game model, so he looks like this guy here. He stands about 5'11 with brown hair (very flouncy, thanks) and brown eyes. He's muscular since he's a warrior who fights with sword and shield and his build looks it. Observant folks might notice a strange scar on his left hand, as if something tore through both the palm and the back of it, although fortunately for everyone here, it doesn't seem to be currently glowing.

Brief:

Basic overview is that Brennan was on a starter escort quest when all hell broke loose and he was either in the right place at the right time or the very worst place at the worst time. Either way, he was the sole survivor of a terrible event that left everyone around him dead and him the only person who could stop it from getting worse. As the scar on his hand proves, he came away from it with a power he was never meant to wield, but one he made his own all the same, determined to help right the world and bring it back from the edge of chaos. Along the way, he assembled a motley crew of very interesting companions, fought a lot of dragons, blighted darkspawn, and insane templars with shiny red rocks growing out of them. There was intrigue, betrayal, secrets, time-traveling, boring history lectures, way too much politics, and ancient magisters who just wouldn't stay dead. But he did it - they did it - and he managed to become something of a legend along the way. Not on purpose, he blames Varric for spreading tales.

In general, however, he's open and earnest, very dedicated and determined when he sets himself to a task or a cause. He has a stubborn streak, but mostly he follows his instinct and his conscience, going with his gut because he's had to learn how to take charge and lead the way, trusting the others will follow him. He inspires those around him without even really trying, he doesn't back away from a challenge just because it's hard. He really sees the people around him and will go out of his way to help, even if it seems pointless to some. He's got a good heart and cares - sometimes too much. He takes the responsibility on his shoulders seriously, even though sometimes it feels like he's going to buckle under the weight - instead, he plods doggedly onwards, refusing to surrender. Although he does tend to take too much blame and guilt on his shoulders at times, because he has regrets for the mistakes he made along the way, for those he couldn't save in time. But it's rare he lets that side show unless you're very close to him, preferring to defer and deflect with humor - often sarcastic or self-deprecating in nature. He tends to quip out his opinion a lot to lighten the weight of the seriousness around him, even if it sometimes comes off as irreverent. Then again, as one of his companions says, weird shit keeps happening to him and he's just coping as best he can.

Brennan is going to be a monster here in Aef, a chimera to be precise. I'm still hammering out the details of which animals that's going to be for him, but you can be sure a bear is gonna be one of them (thanks, he hates it already). someone tell me not to pick nug.

CR-wise, he gets along with most people easily enough. He's friendly and open and listens well. And he's.... surprisingly not going to be panicking too badly at arriving in a strange world because at this point... well. It's just more weird shit, okay. He's definitely going to be seeking out friends of both mages and monsters because he has a habit of "collecting" people and strays (even before he became Inquisitor and needed the help). He's also got one of his companions (and his bf) coming in along with him but he apologizes ahead of time for all of Dorian's... Dorian-ness. ;) Even if he actually encourages it, and then probably does worse on his own. Shh, he denies everything.

She rebelled against this and started training in the ninja arts with a master who would later turn out to be a complete psychopath trying to mold her in his image and turn her into this deadly emotionless fighting machine. Long story short, she gets out of that and slowly starts to become a warmer, slightly more open person with the help of new friends - of course. She leads an all-female paramilitary group called the Hyakka, which keeps the women of Yoshiwara safe from crime, harassment etc.
Seeking/Offering: Tsukuyo is someone who presents as very serious and stoic but has a warm, squishy tsundere center. It's good for her to have characters around who are willing to put the time in and push those barriers she puts up. Sunny natured, cheerful, loud characters make a good contrast for her and will probably pull her out of her shell a bit. Brief: There's a lot more info about Howl's appearance, personality and background here, but the tl;dr is that Howl is a vain, bohemian, iconoclastic young wizard who intentionally broke away from the magic-wielding bureaucracy of his home world. Instead of upholding an oath he took to serve the king, he operates several wizarding businesses under two fake aliases. He doesn't hesitate to break tradition and practice magic in situations the bureaucracy would consider improper, whether for selfish reasons or in circumstances that could be considered wasteful, dangerous or taboo.

His big secret is that he swallowed a demon when he was ten years old so he could get unmatched phenomenal magical powers, without appreciating that doing such a thing tends to make you die very early. The only way to break the demon's contract is to have his heart returned to him somehow, but he's cursed to be unable to discuss the contract, so he considers his early death a forgone conclusion.

He's very fun-loving and indulgent, to the point of being childish at times, and he has a heart of gold to the point that it can get him in trouble if he isn't careful. Please expect him to flirt with any of-age female that even mildly catches his interest, and please expect him to attempt high-level spells he has no business attempting to cast.

Seeking/Offering: I haven't entirely worked out how to handle Howl's two week absence from the game, but I think what I might do is say that he died during Morgana's attack on Dorchacht in September, and didn't get revived for whatever reason, and reappears with the new arrivals. Not really sure of the details yet. But either way, he's going to be salty about the entire incident, including disappearing but not going home.
