CR & PLOTTING: OCTOBER

A Septeril celebration of freedom from oppression in sister city Dorchacht became a grim reminder of what the people were freed from a year ago when former Coven leader Morgana Drummond resurfaced. Crashing the party in a spectacular way, she cast a curse upon the city of Dorchacht, putting its native residents - every single one - into a deep, enchanted sleep. She disappeared as her followers and thralls tried to wreak havoc upon the sleeping citizens, only to be stopped by visiting Mirrorbound and Aefenglom's Coven.

Miss Nessie orchestrated a last-ditch effort in an attempt to wake the sleeping citizens of Dorchacht, by drawing on the Mirrorbounds' strange ability to share dreams. Volunteers harvested crystallized energy from a shared nightmarescape, and she believes they have just enough...

The Price of Revolution p2

The Witches of Aefenglom's Coven come together to purify and prepare the condensed dreamscape energy, which will be used as quickly as possible to wake the sleeping citizens of Dorchacht. Luckily they find they have enough to breathe life back into their ally city, and when the people are woken, they are angry. Not at Mirrorbound or Aefenglom, of course, but at Morgana, for daring to show her face alive again.

It becomes quite clear that the next order of business needs to be tracking down and dealing with Morgana Drummond once and for all, but the two Covens cannot agree on an approach.

Dorchacht and its Circle of Three, plain and simple, want Morgana's head on a platter. They do not wish to make the same mistake they made last year in assuming the Wilde will finish her off. They want to end her legacy fully and decisively so that she can never return to threaten Dorchacht and their people. Meanwhile, Aefenglom's Miss Nessie and her people argue that she was once a part of their Coven, many years ago, and they should rein her in. They want to capture and imprison her in Aefenglom and strip her magic from her completely and permanently. They feel this will be enough to keep her from being a further threat and hope to wrest information from her - locked up in her head are decades of magical experience, after all. Both sides are up front about how they plan to handle the matter and it quickly becomes obvious it will come down to who finds her first, and who has the most help.

Mirrorbound will wind up being the deciding factor. The Coven that more Mirrorbound throw their support behind will be the one to ultimately find Morgana first and claim rights to her death or capture. They'll need to discuss among themselves and decide what method they think is best - a sound end to a reign of terror, or the potential to mine a very powerful Witch for information.

This an OOC vote, but please vote according to your character's stance and who they'll stand behind, if anyone! Leave your comment below, once per character, as this will determine her final fate in the event log. You have until Oct. 10th.

Regardless of which Coven is the one to confront Morgana Drummond, it's clear that it will not be easy to get to her, hidden away deep, deep into Dorchacht's more mountainous Wilde. She has bent the Wilde to her whims in many aspects, and there will be countless dangers along the way: Morgana's elemental clay men, animated beings of stone and clay that spark with electricity, blaze with fire, or crackle with ice; puzzling magical traps; a maze of dangerous, thorny plants; and of course the Cwyld, are all standing between you and the enemy.

It will be dangerous for everyone, but for un-Bonded individuals especially - her scorn for her broken Bond of servitude with The Dragon has led her to lay a particular curse on the land she inhabits now, that much more heavily affects those without the particular protection of a Bond. The magic weighs down one's limbs and mind, steadily more as they approach Morgana's grand, well-hidden manor in the Wilde, making each step torture. Closer to her location, whereas she used to block the Sisters from shining over Dorchacht, in her new domain she has created false full moons, which will send Witch magic and Monster instincts haywire - but those with Bonds will find it easier to control themselves. It cannot be fully predicted what defenses she has laid for herself, but temporary or permanent Bonds are highly encouraged for all deep Wilde missions regardless.

Both Covens will go after her, but the one to reach her first will be the one with the most assistance. With a tricky creature like Morgana Drummond, depending on her final fate, there could be unexpected effects in the future...

Pros:
- The potential to draw information from Morgana regarding magic and dreamwalking, one of her strengths.

- The potential for future trouble from her remaining followers, not all of whom will be present at the final confrontation to be caught.

Appearance: Here's what she'd look like if she ever bothered to smile! She's like seven feet tall, pale, handsome. Carries swords, a gun, and a bad case of bitchy resting face.
Brief: A hunter from a place where you kill werewolves, not marry them. She's been here since the beginning, though, so she's significantly more relaxed than she used to be, but still can be a bit cold and standoffish to people, and especially Monsters she doesn't know well. Life has been extremely rough for her the past several months, but she's clawing her way out of a depression pit I think. She lost her permanent bond, but gained a permanent job, has started really getting into distilling her own special gin, and is generally trying to make better use of her copious amounts of free time rather than brooding. It's sort of working.

Event Plans: Either way it goes, she'll be glad to watch Morgana suffer, but tbh she wants the bitch to die. Negl. She will gut Morgana herself if she has to. How dare that lady put a spell on Dorchacht that made Maria go into a Nightmare and have to face Kos. She'll happily be on the hunt to go out there, even though she's still somewhat recovering from her injuries back in August. She's doing well enough to handle something like this - she does, however, lack for one thing: A permanent Bond.

This means, of course, that she's open to having a temporary one to go hunt down Morgana. She'll even feel generous enough to extend the offer to two or three Monsters or other Witches if they ask, or need one because they're suffering along the way. I figure she'll have at least one going in, so she won't be suffering herself.
General Plans:

Quests:

- I am signed up for: Slashing Pumpkins, and Will O' Wisp for additional Wilde expeditions! She is always willing to go out and do stuff in the Wildes though.

Bonds:

- There's a great potential in the event for a temp Bond to start working toward something more. She doesn't need to know your character, necessarily! I am down for anything. Witches or Monsters don't necessarily matter, but she'll be definitely reserving at least one spot, if not two for Monsters. After that it's fair game once some buildup has been put into it - she's not prone to just... jumping into it, even if she's less uptight than she used to be.

Housing:

- There are still plenty of slots open in the Haunted Mansion! Must love dogs, and/or hyenas, and/or cursed things. It's a huge place, full of serial killers, but if that's not a deterrent, the garden is amazing, there's plenty of room, it's well kept, and very quiet. Will have to pass muster with Kaede as well, or the hyenas will get Weird.

She’s fine and sane thank you

She has a rope burn mark around her throat that never seems to fade, and thanks to monster changes, she's a bit shorter, her eyes a bit larger, ears pointed, and she's covered in a fine glittery sort of powder stuff.
Brief: The antagonist of Fatal Frame II, Sae was supposed to die in a ritual performed with her twin sister, where her sister strangled and killed her. But when they tried to escape, Sae was re-captured and her village sacrificed her alone while Yae was able to get away. The Hellish Abyss (basically a pit to hell her body was thrown into) spewed forth “Darkness” and engulfed the village in a matter of seconds. Then a corrupted Sae along with a being she controlled called the Kusabi emerged from its depths. Together they spread throughout the village, filling the night with her maniacal laughter as the Kusabi began to slaughter all those within sight. Those who weren’t murdered succumbed to the Darkness and went mad or wasted away.

Sae wiped the village off the map and turned it into a cursed place, doomed to an endless night and repeating the events prior to the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual until it can get it right—That is, until Sae can be strangled by her twin.

She might just sneak along anyhow determined to Help Somehow. She's without a bond though, so she might go a little crazy.
General Plans:
After 100+ years of being a spirit driven insane with grief and resentment and the Darkness of the Hellsigh Abyss, Sae’s going to find herself relatively sane and alive again and very very confused by it!

She grew up extremely sheltered, since her only goal in life was to be killed so it’s not like much effort was wasted on her, even though she reportedly grew up relatively unrestricted and carefree beyond that axe hanging above her head. Because she basically considered herself useful in no way except being killed for her purpose, she has a relatively low self-esteem and all. I just want her to make friends—she never had those before except for her sister and another pair of twins!—and the chance to be a REAL GIRL. Learning things! She has no idea how anything works!

She has fairly yandere tendencies too towards anyone—male or female—who might become friends with her and being a fae isn’t going to help much with that.

I also am down for doing some small quests?? Generally, Sae grew up without an extensive education—she can read, write, do basic maths, and knows a LOT about Japanese myths and stories, and a vague understanding of history...But she WAS supposed to be a sacrifice and therefore not intended to live long. Teaching her things would’ve been a waste. As such she has very few skills outside domestic things and a burning curiosity to learn things now that she has the freedom to do so!

So anything from cooking to learning how to defend herself, to history (any history), or blacksmithing, etc. she wants to learn it all!

I also plan to have her practicing her illusion powers sooner or later and making the horrible twisted ghosts of the village appear to wander around a bit... or her own sister, whom she might grow a bit obsessed with it's FINE everything is FINE.

Uhhh what else. she should probably form a Bond with SOMEONE...

Brief: One half of the duo of Turks in Aefenglom. Think of him as something as a yakuza enforcer that works/worked for an electric company that basically ruled the world. Anyway! He's mostly stoic and calm but his dragon instincts are starting to kick in hard this month so he may be more irritable than usual. Also despite being a badass he's kinda sometimes secretly a softie.
Choice: Dragon
Event Plans: Probably not going to participate. He hasn't formed much of a bond with this world or it's people and doesn't spend any time in Dorsch unless it's for a quick job. In other words, he just doesn't care that much. If he did he'd probably side with killing her because that's what he would do but honestly he doesn't care. Plus, he's unbonded and it'd be a bad time for him to go out on the hunt for her. Especially while he's already undergoing some major monster changes this month. tl;dr: no plans here; this could always change.
General Plans: As mentioned Rude is indeed undergoing some major monster changes this month, and will be bothered by that throughout the entire month. It's starting with scales and spikes, claws and eye changes which are all currently visible from the first full moon. And during the Blue Moon he's getting his wings! I already have a catch-all log for him that's completely open with prompts for some of his monster changes and some quests! (Slashing Pumpkins, Shamblevine Blossoms, and Sparking Artistry all have prompts although I also signed him up for Lawn and Order for easy money and could easily have that be a way to meet him.) Please have at him. If there's anything else you'd like to do with Rude, please let me know! An individual prompt can always be made for your character in a toplevel, I'm ready and willing. He's eccentric and showy, and will do anything to achieve his dream of becoming a star. Mettaton can spin even mundane things into something engaging somehow, and his fans think he's just as attractive as he thinks he is. • I don't know if Mettaton will be pursuing Morgana; he's not one for fighting, but he'll attend if someone requests it of him or if someone close to him is going. That said, if someone would like to do something with him during the event, let me know! He's a metal Puca, and he's seasoned at going feral. :) He could even use that new power he's gaining during the event (see below for details).

General Plans:

• This month, Mettaton will be developing a new power as a Puca that kind of feels like Unnoticeability: a severe lack of presence, to the point that his presence and actions can go undetected — like invisibility, only worse! He'll hate it. I plan on having his first bout of this power on the first full moon of the month, and having him be able to control it a bit better by the full moon on Samuin. Mettaton will hate this power and he's likely to be even more vindictive if he's not being noticed, so... If you'd like for a Monster to do something awful to your character, let it be the killer robotic... rabbit... yeah... (also he's still a maneater sooooo lmao)

• pretty pro having morgana live but he's in minority there (this is something he should be accustomed to, alas); tbd on posting about that, and i'll have to see what event log has in store, but! i am generally amenable to plans

General Plans:

• new cr in gen — as september was a chaotic month for me, i didn't have the opportunity to tag as much; viren's had a lot of his cr drop recently and i'd love to fill that void! it takes him a fair amount of time to genuinely warm up to people, but really i'm looking for anything, haha.
  
• negative cr — bickering, petty antagonism, the Clashing of Ideals & Ethics etc, physical altercations, etc. he hasn't showcased what an unpleasant piece of work he can be, and this begs to be changed.
  
• coworkers of / those who frequent diplomatea — he's uh, manager of a teashop (one of his bonded is the owner, all right). workaholic tendencies have him frequenting there; if your character's around, i'd love to utilize the setting.
  
• temp witch bonds — for practicality purposes (whispers: unless...?). beyond proficiency in whichever craft, his standards are fairly nonexistent when it comes to witches. he just likes them magic. right now he's bonded to two monsters, so he's likely to soon be on the search for a final witch bond. feel free to hmu if you're interested in developing to something here.

quests:

• happy hauntings — while viren may ideally like to try to talk edith down, he does prefer the idea of getting even. if someone wants to play this out (nothing too terrible for poor edith, but something just ... enough to be satisfying...), then, please. our characters can be in nasty cahoots.
  
• slashing pumpkins — he's a fire dragon. burning bridges things is something of a specialty. for efficiency's sake, lookin' to pair with a character that would be skilled with keeping it to a controlled burn? or having a a bit of a disastrous time - that's also perfectly within the realm of possibility, if anyone would prefer some chaos.
  
• shamblevine — this type of shit right here? often what he does at home, so he'd lo-ove to give this one a go. for nostalgia's sake, or something. also i'm mostly loving those truthful & impulsive side-effects. you know.
  
• will o' wisp — if anyone likes writing fight scenes lmao. he will likely pose some disagreement in that he actually... doesn't think the consumption of life force for this purpose rly that terrible!! alternatively, handwaving of any hardcore action permitted, i'd love for him to just debate over this situation with someone.

Event Plans: Connor will want to help bring Morgana in for whatever judgement she faces, but he'll want to be extra safe and maybe get a second permanent Bond before heading out? He has one, so he should be fine, but he wants to be absolutely sure he won't go berserk because let's face it, Connor is a bit of a control freak.
General Plans: None really! He's not signed up for any quests, but if anyone wants to catch him at Pile's Petagorium as usual he'll be there! We can also plot on plurk! He does need to expand his CR pool more so if anyone wants to do anything hmu /fingerguns

General Plans: For October Geralt will be:
+ practicing his shift form in the woods. Let me know if you're interested in body horror shenanigans
+ samuin; whatever festivals/celebrations are going on, he will likely be there due to jaskier and/or yennefer being there

Appearance: anime turnarounds in honour of the anime coming back - Momo is a thoroughly average height (5'8") man with a solid, athletic build, and weirdly long and pointy canines like a dog (or a vampire, which he's been compared to in canon). He wears nailpolish all the time (usually red) and a ring on his left hand that matches the one his partner Yuki wears in the same place.
Brief: Momo is a 26 year old veteran idol of the duo Re:vale, who are the undisputed top of the idol industry (and honestly the Japanese music industry as well since they keep winning general music awards) in his world and have been for the last few years. His public face is very sweet, kind, and helpful, and while he is that kind of person he also tends to hide a lot of his worse qualities, such as gently manipulating people and things into his or his loved ones' favour and being kind of a possessive control freak about his partner because he's so desperate not to let him get hurt. Normally he's quite forgiving, but if someone is endangering his friends or making their lives miserable, he tends to go a bit feral and one-track-minded on the problem and sometimes that just means beating the shit out of things, as seen with the necromancers on last event.
Choice: Witch, currently proficient in Illusion and Abjuration and working his way up there with Evocation.
Event Plans: SO god I'm actually having trouble deciding which way Momo is going to swing on this because honestly? He wouldn't normally advocate for killing but he's seen in his world how much damage shitty people can do even without magic and Morgana seems to him the kind of person who might be able to manipulate herself out of captivity eventually and start building up another force. So I might muse on which side he's going to fall on for a few days but I'm currently leaning slightly towards kill, also because he's a bit of an "eye for an eye" type and more than enough people died during the attack to justify it for him even if he doesn't end up directly throwing himself behind that cause.

On the Bond necessity front, he has one free bond slot if someone needs a temp bond to go out on the expedition! His other two are Monsters so he should be fine taking on either another Monster or a Witch (he might even favour Witch honestly because he still has familiars so that's...a lot of magic sink potential), so lmk if you're interested in doing something with that! As far as the expedition goes, he's proficient in barrier and healing magic so he should be pretty handy for getting around some of the dangers and since his first elemental choice in Evocation was ice, that might be good for ousting the plants. He's also kind of a cunning little shit when he needs to be, so he may well be an asset figuring out ways through the magical traps.
General Plans: Other plans are mostly quests this month as my RL is going to be a little unpredictable in the next few weeks! I'm primarily looking at Slashing Pumpkins, Sparking Artistry and Silent Forest Maintenance, but if anyone is interested in doing Happy Hauntings or Will O Wisp with Momo I'm open to those as well! I'll probably be doing any quest logging in the second half of the month, after the event.

One other thing on the agenda is finding people proficient in long-range weapons, e.g. archery and so on, since he finally had to come to a concession with Yuki that it's not really possible to get by in this world without knowing some kind of fighting. So he's on the lookout for things that might be helpful to his partner/bf/husband potentially learning to fight without getting right into the middle of things, with the caveat that Yuki has aichmophobia (fear of sharp objects) so Momo will be hesitant about looking into actual bladed weapons.

Appearance: medium height, pale, and dour - Onni's ash-blond hair is growing out to a shag from a terrible mullet and has the texture of straw, his cheekbones could cut glass, and his nose pokes up at the end. His eyes are such a weird pale blue they nearly glow in the shadows. He wears a lot of furs, you'll almost never see him without his fur cape on, and generally looks like he came straight out of a fantasy novel, and his fashion sense has not developed despite several months in Aefenglom.
Brief: info & permissions; Onni is a weird mix of stubborn, terrified, stoic, melodramatic, and a straight up dad despite his age being only 27. Hobbies include baking and playing the kantele. He was a powerful mage at home, and non-immune in a post-apocalyptic world where they live in protected cities while a terrible disease ravages everything outside those cities, so Aefenglom is pretty familiar and he feels safer here than at home and he hasn't had a lot of trouble adjusting (besides the magic being different). He raised his little sister and younger cousin starting when he was 15 and has been in the military most of his life, doing protective magic, a tradition he's likely to continue here. Onni grew up hearing the creepy manipulative aggressive voices of corrupted souls, thanks to the Rash (the aforementioned disease) so he has a healthy (okay it's not healthy) fear of being infected by anything like that. He cries a lot and likes learning about religions, folklore, and gods in other cultures, being in the forest, and being safe, despite being pulled from what is effectively a suicide mission (not that he wants to die, it's just super likely). He's currently dealing with a lot of grief due to spoilers (tell me if you don't want the spoilers, they're like 3 years old though) and is probably going to be forced to deal with that now that he's not in a survival situation. Tons of fun.

Event Plans: While he wasn't here for the original revolution etc., he was dragged into the fight at the festival in Dorchacht after hearing about all the terrible stuff that happened there and conversing with a couple of people who were, and volunteering for the dreamwalking bit since he has a lot of experience with that, so he's going to somewhat grudgingly participate in this as well. While he has no particular political opinion and doesn't care about politics at all, he is in support of Dorchacht's Coven for practical reasons - he thinks it's safest to eliminate any future threat and doesn't like necromancy because it clashes with his psychopomp duty as a mage back home. (Current Spoilers) Even though he's a giant hypocrite when it comes to complaining about disturbing the dead. I would love to play around with some conversations about that particular topic.

Since he's Bonded with Reynir, a friend from home, he'll have an easier time, and thankfully he's been practicing a lot and his Bond has increased his grasp on magic here, so he's starting to regain some of the power he lost in the transition from home to Aefenglom. The edge has been taken off his cowardice a little by recent events in canon, but he's still going mostly on obligation and a hint of desperation. While I'd need to wait to see what the log includes for anything specific, I would love for him to have a group to go out with, though he'd also go out on his own so he could also meet people to team with while on the mission. Hit me up if you're interested in plotting something once we see the log so I know who to bother when it goes up!

General Plans: I'm eyeing up the Silent Forest Maintenance quest, because at this point he's got quite a bit of experience with cleansing leylines (another task he's grudgingly attached to), and he is in full support of healing the forest.

Otherwise, my plans are to continue attempts to develop his CR, both by having him meet new people and by deepening his current CR, hopefully. I would love more people for him to be drinking buddies or magic sparring partners with him, and definitely people that he can worry about. If you have a character who needs a big brother/protective dad figure to worry about them and boss them around, Onni is your man. He's not super emotionally expressive, but he'll definitely fuss and be protective and chide them for unfounded self-doubt. Bluntly.

I might have her struggle with the fake moons that Morgana puts into play, as well; Karin's bonds are still new, and her transformation itself has been moving along rapidly the last month or so, so all kinds of problems could pop up. She feels like killing Morgana outright isn't the right answer, so there's a potential talking point there, as well.
General Plans: I'm keeping things light this month with the intent to do things during the event! She'll be up for a few quests with folks and I'll have a catch-all for closed threads, but will probably be top-leveling her when the event comes around. Otherwise, the focus this month is to follow up with and strengthen CR (especially since I was scarce last month due to school starting), and she has the potential for some important castmates to show up depending on apps, which will really turn things sideways for her. Like a lot of other people, I'd love to deepen current CR and cultivate some new stuff this month! With the event being a bit intense I'll most likely be focusing on less high octane stuff outside of it, but tbh I'm open to pretty much anything if you're interested.

- he'll be questing quite a bit in October! I plan on signing him up for Lawn & Order, Happy Hauntings, and either Slashing Pumpkins or Sparking Artistry. Brief: A very patient, too-giving, slightly naive gentleman warrior-turned-witch. He's trying to buff up his magic currently to stand in between his family and familiar faces on one side and his Bonded, the angry snake-man on the other. He's also learning to live outside of a strict, sheltered life governed by rules. What is normal again?
Choice: Witch
Event Plans: He is going to be pretty pro-capture, since mob justice doesn't sit well with him and he's pretty sure Morgana isn't that easy to be rid of. If she can get away, she'll at least be badly handicapped this time, and he's worried she knows important information as villains often do. Not so sure about posting, but we will see what the event brings! He can probably contribute help at least.

General Plans:
He's really going to be working on advancing magic spells. The nightmare event proved to him he has a lot of progress yet to make in that area, so he's going to get serious about it. Magic study partners or training friends would be good! On top of that, he'll be looking to build better connections with Monsters all around, because he's determined to help out in whatever way he can for them. Teach him all the Monster ways?

Also open to the various quests, if someone needs a support/healer or backup witch for some light adventures.

I'm looking at having him make some journeys out into the Wilde going forward, so maybe recruiting for people who want to do that with him? Getting in trouble would be amazing.
