[As if Yuki could handle thinking that he'd abandoned Momo, even if it's kind of a reverse-accidental abandonment. That's the reason he reacts, something like guilt, something like familiarity, a little empathy he holds in reserve for Momo and pretty much nobody else. As it is, he has to keep moving, so he goes along again, staying close, maybe even getting closer as things are revealed. And it's a doozy.
Magic. Witches. And Monsters.
Why does Yuki have a sinking feeling, as he looks around and begins to notice things other than his partner? A claw here, a tail there, but then bigger things, huge things, things that would make anyone in their right mind freak out. Yuki only keeps calm by virtue of being himself.]
You're a Witch, then. [Not a question. And Yuki, the light to Momo's dark, wonders if this isn't going to be some kind of twisted yin-yang situation where he leeches off his partner in a whole new way.
Dammit. That'd be the way of things, wouldn't it? He'll just have to ask as soon as possible and hope he's wrong. It's not like he's worrying, but there's just a serious gut feeling that this isn't going to be good news.]
It makes sense that there's a cycle to it, at least. [He'll force a look at the logical side rather than thinking about what hasn't yet come to pass.] I'm glad you told me, instead of hearing it from them. Don't fuss over me either way, though.
[Momo hums an assent to the question of him being a Witch, still very much aware he got handed the easier side of coming to this world. Witches might have the risk of overloading themselves, but that takes being very careless for a very long time and he's been careful enough to have not risked it yet, and likely not for another several months.
While Momo does look less conflicted now that he's said it, asking him not to fuss is always a hard sell, and just about impossible when it comes to Yuki specifically. He pulls Yuki's arm in closer for an overdramatic moment to hopefully bounce the mood back a bit, clinging to it with his other hand too.]
How can I not fuss over you!? I haven't had anyone to properly fuss over in months and now the person I want to fuss over most is here, you can't just stop me from doing it! [That's punctuated by some light tugging on Yuki's arm that might bring him a bit closer to Momo for a few steps before he lightens up.] I'm sure you'll still be handsome whatever you turn out to be, though, so we'll figure it out.
[Momo would like to hope that he's a Witch, even if that would make Bonding a risk, but it's more for the sake of Yuki not going through the struggles he's heard about from Monsters he's met here. As far as he's concerned, there's no form he wouldn't accept Yuki in.]
[Well. He tried. Guess he has to let Momo fuss now.
Still, is it bad that he also hopes he's a Witch? It sounds easier. Okay, the excessive magical buildup sounds problematic at an extreme, but when would that even happen? That said, he'd really like to know what this "feeding off magic" entails. It's better left to maybe the People In Charge, if Momo hasn't dropped that yet. Maybe it's unpleasant, or maybe Momo just doesn't feel like being a walking exposition machine today, both of which Yuki can respect. He's got the basics, and Momo seems to have lightened up, so... Onward they go, Yuki not protesting being held a little closer.]
Anything else I need to know before the info I'm guessing comes my way from the Coven later? [He says it lightly, or what passes for light when it's Yuki being slightly shell shocked.] If not, I want to know what you've been up to.
[Wants? Needs. He's going to have to get every last detail to be satisfied, unfortunately. Such is how bad he feels for Momo being here alone. He'll even take notes if he must.]
[Momo not having Bonded yet means he feels like he should probably leave the Bonding talk to the Coven, especially since he's not sure what the situation is here with this group of newcomers. It feels a bit early to bring it up when they don't know whether this is an oddity in more than just the location of arrival.]
The Witch and Monster thing is really the big shock out of the way. There is other stuff you'll need to know, but not immediately, and they can probably explain it better.
[Since Momo's other hand is on Yuki's arm now too, he just leaves it there, seemingly not really thinking to take it away. He knows Yuki probably won't be satisfied with a vague answer as to what he's been doing, but then, he wouldn't say anything that's happened since he arrived was all that much to worry about except maybe that riot in Dorchacht. And he can probably get away with not mentioning that. He taps Yuki's arm absently with one finger, like he's trying to think on specifics.]
Well...I had a weird dream before I arrived that was kind of this world in the past, but with bigger monsters? And then I woke up here and met a couple of people from that dream, since apparently the dreams are kinda prophetic or weird divination stuff and happen to all the newcomers. Started learning magic once I found out I was a Witch, picked up a job in radio and sometimes some modelling on the side...besides that it's mostly just been little side jobs and expeditions and stuff. We were healing some leylines outside the city the first month I was here to get further out into the Wilde, and I've been helping build the outpost they've been working on since then, but that's probably the most consistent thing. The rest has basically been odd side jobs or festivals or that one really weird memory-sharing dream last month.
[So basically what passes for living his life in a weird magic world like this. He sounds pretty used to it, from the tone he takes, offering stuff that should otherwise be unbelievable where they come from quite casually.]
[Yuki's not going to like the idea of Bonding at first glance, so maybe it's best if he just gets it from an expert.]
I'll ask questions later if I have any.
[Yuki settles his free hand over Momo's, normal as can be. Like two gossipy schoolgirls, or two married idols. But it's more of a gesture to ground Yuki than anything else, though he manages a small smile as Momo elaborates.]
I don't know what some of that means, but it sounds like you've been busy. [The relief in his voice.] I'm glad. I'd be worried if you just sat around or something, even without me. Then again, you're not the type. [That's Yuki. Yuki's the type.]
[Momo can't really do much to return that gesture with Yuki's hand atop his, but he does kind of curl his thumb awkwardly around Yuki's fingers, because of course he's trying. He doesn't really know how to bring up the fact that the way he's talked about this kind of closeness with Yuki has given basically everyone he knows here a very particular idea about the nature of their relationship, so he just...doesn't. Maybe some other time. Or maybe he can just keep putting it off.
He grins a little at the mention that he's not the type to sit around, because...well, yeah. He doesn't really feel comfortable just whiling away, since the time in his life he was most static like that is also the time in his life he was in an emotional pit.]
I've even been doing a little networking again! So we should have interested parties already if we started performing here. [Because of course he couldn't just move on with his life, he had to basically build another throne for Yuki even in his absence. Even if this time he's made less bad life choices doing it.] But yeah, the dreams are apparently a regular thing. It's normally just distant places and right before newcomers arrive, from what I've heard, but last month for some reason it wasn't a place and didn't have any new people. We were just in the house that people usually come out of the mirrors in and if you walked into someone's mirror, you could see a memory of theirs.
[It then occurs to him there's another thing he should probably mention.] Oh, right, and a couple of people might recognise you because of that, but it still won't be a fraction of what happens back home!
[Only problem is that most of the memories are things Momo wouldn't have shared willingly, and possibly not Yuki either in the case of the whole almost-murder incident, but he hopes everyone who saw that at least has the discretion to not bring attempted murder up completely out of left field.]
