[Gon laughs, seeming delighted even as Killua slaps at his hand. Killua didn't have him fooled! he'd seemed so cocky when they first met, but then he's often like this... and not exactly the social type.
Gon beams where Killua lands.]
I mean, have you made any friends? We arrived at the same time, right?
[this conversation sort of reminds Gon of the conversation they'd had about girls when they were at the gym, before Gon's date with Palm.
Gon rolls over onto his side, using his own bicep as a pillow, his other arm bending at the elbow as his hand rests in a subtle curl in front of his chest while he hikes his knees up.]
Busy, huh... Sounds familiar.
[Gon's been kind of busy too, so he's one to talk, but he made a couple friends! but, Gon probably has a much softer definition of a friend.]
[ The shove doesn't bother him at all. Killua gets comfortable and leans back against the wall where the small bed lacks a proper headboard, stretching his legs out beside Gon. ]
[Gon's voice is all laughter again, and he squirms both happily and kind of aimlessly while on his side.]
Ooh, yeah! I noticed you looking at that, [Gon teases.
the two chat for about ten minutes before Gon starts to appear groggy—his responses slow, eyelids heavy, and eventually his responses are total neural misfires. Gon hadn't intended to stay, but eventually, Gon appears to have just totally conked the fuck out. too much excitement and stimulation, with a heart too full, happy and content. that, and being re-met with Killua's scent is too comforting to resist.]
[ Killua can tell Gon is falling asleep. When his responses start getting slow and more whimsical (or straight-up nonsensical) it's very obvious. And very... cute.
Killua could have tried to keep him awake. He could have told Gon it's time to go back to the inn, even offered to go with him to avoid any risk of Gon conking out on the way there. But, even though he notices, Killua doesn't do any of these things.
He's a little sleepy too, warm and comfortable. And comforted, for the first time since ending up in this place. Despite the anxiety and awkwardness still underlying many of their interactions, the sense of treading on thin ice in one way or another, paradoxically Killua still feels so relieved.
If Gon had offered to go back to his own room, Killua wouldn't have stopped him. But he doesn't try to nudge him out.
For some time, as Gon sleeps, Killua just lies propped up where he was, legs stretched out alongside Gon, almost touching. He crosses his arms behind his head, at times staring aimlessly at the wall, and at other long moments just taking in Gon with soft, liquid-blue eyes. He listens to the sounds of Gon's even breaths, finds himself watching the slow, steady movement of his shoulders and chest-- up and down, slow and rhythmic, calming and familiar.
Somehow, after a long while of trying in vain to convince himself to get up and go curl up in the chair, Killua ends up slumped on the narrow bed beside his friend, eyes falling closed. ]
[Gon sleeps more peacefully than he has in ages, though with the regular depth that's to be expected. and it's a good thing he was tired out a bit, because Gon's kinetic nonsense is kept to a minimum as he sleeps; he does change position occasionally, and maybe accidentally knocks the back of his hand against Killua's face or something similar.
but he sleeps through the night, the morning light coming through the haze of barely-there dust that floats through the air, casting misty streaks of spotty sun against the starchy linen sheets. and Gon has someone ended up kind of lower than before, or maybe Killua had at some point tried to kick him off—the result is that Gon is peacefully wrapped around Killua's shin, and, unfortunately, kind of drooling on it, maybe mumbling something vague about tilapia.]
[ Killua mostly slept through the night, at least by his standards. Considering what a light sleeper he is, Gon's movements don't wake him nearly as often as anyone else's would. Familiar, even after all this time.
He does actually try to disentangle himself a few times, kicking Gon away when he barnacles too close and it gets hot (and. uncomfortable. for reasons.) but other than that, Killua doesn't actually try to leave or shove him off.
Until Gon starts drooling on his leg.
Killua groans, turning over onto his back. His other leg lifts up, bare foot shoving at the top of Gon's spiky hair. ]
[Gon blinks unevenly and slowly in a groggy haze as his head is stepped on.] Huh...?
[wincing his face in tired protest, Gon turns his head to hide against his pillow—which he then realizes is really hard and not comfortable, because it's a shin and a knee.]
Oh.
[Gon sits up, rubbing his eyes.]
I got lost somehow...
[even with their situation now being so strange, Gon manages to not get embarrassed. being half asleep is helping, but it's not like Gon has a deep well of shame even with his recent developments.]
And I guess I fell asleep here... again... Sorry, Killua, [Gon yawns.] I guess your smell makes me too comfy when it's been so long...
[ Killua counters, though he actually doesn't care at all.
He lets himself be caught, giving a half-hearted tug but not really putting much strength in it. He's still flopped back against the pillows, where he'd spent most of the night leaning half on them to give Gon more room on the bottom half of the bed.
He blinks too. ]
...huh?
[ Then, his mouth curls into an impish grin, and he pushes his foot forward toward Gon's face despite his grip. ]
[Gon laughs, then flops back onto his back. he'll go! but not yet. it's still early... the bed's still comfy... but Gon is also aware the more he puts it off, the harder it'll be to pull apart. it echoes their last departure from one another, and Gon's stomach already squirms with some anxiety wondering if it's going to be that way every time, even if the consequence of them being apart is...literally nothing so dire.
not across the world from one another, and now maybe a little more at ease... Gon still feels like he could see himself having to push himself to just go, every time.
Gon rolls his head a little to gaze up at Killua, hands folded on his stomach.]
Your family seems so thorough with other stuff I'd never think of, though. Didn't seem too impossible, so I asked!
[ He ends up flopping across the recently-vacated lower part of the bed Killua just moved his legs away from, so Killua can lean over and peer down at him. Just so Gon can see the face he pulls. ]
Not impossible. Just stupid.
[ And with that declaration, Killua jumps up and off the bed, landing lightly. He yawns and stretches his arms up over his head, spine arching as he bends backward to work out the kinks after sleeping in such an awkward position. ]
[Gon frowns a little as Killua springs up, watching him diligently for an opening—which is during the graceful bend of his back as he stretches his arms over his head...
so that's when the back of Killua's head is pelted by his own pillow. the betrayal]
[ BETRAYED!! In his own home! (this is not his home)
It's a mark of how relaxed Killua is that he doesn't actually see it coming. But his reflexes are instinctive and the transportation here hasn't affected anything but his nen. He senses it, realizes it's not worth dodging, and just exclaims in mock offense when the pillow slaps into the back of his head, where he promptly reaches down behind himself to catch it. ]
Oh, you wanna fight?
[ Killua turns, grinning, and throws the pillow right back at Gon's face. ]
[Gon lets the pillow hit his face; similarly, his reflexes are much faster than all of that, but it's sometimes more fun to just dramatically flop backwards and let your legs fly in the air—Gon's roll backwards is so exaggerated, in fact, that he flips so that he ends up on his knees, clutching the pillow—
and he springboards for Killua, lunging at him with the pillow.]
[ Killua takes the pillow to the face-- but at the same time, while Gon is close, catches him by the arms to spin them both around (barely fitting in the small space, probably) and slam him back onto the bed with a loud thump.
it's still early. the students nearby are gonna start knocking on the wall...... not that Killua thinks of that.
He's laughing. It's almost enough to forget where they are. ]

Of course he hasn't made any friends...
He rolls his eyes. ]
I told you. I've been doing research and learning from the Coven here. So I've been busy.
[ So. No. ]

There's lots to do here, Killua.

[ Killua grumbles, reaching over to shove Gon's head down off his bicep and into the mattress. ]
You'd make friends with the fly that lands in your food where there's 'lots to do' or not.

[Gon's eyes widen, then he frowns, giving Killua a stern push with his foot.]
Nuh uh!
[called out. Killua's got him pegged.]
I'll just make friends for the both of us, then!
[Gon's already confident it'll go that way, or so he hopes; he knows he can't be Killua's only friend, now more than ever!]

Gon, we've barely been here a few days. Relax.

I feel really good, actually~

[ Killua laughs, kicking his shoes off the edge of the bed and nudging Gon with his socked foot. ]
It was pretty fun, wasn't it?
[ It's kind of amazing, in a way. But also a relief. ]
I wanna go back and try some of their other desserts. That chocolate lava fountain thing looked freakin' awesome.
