[He folds his arms over the rock and drops his chin onto them, taking a few moments to think. It'd be easier to explain back in the city where there was proper lighting, but out here he only has the light from the moons and the bioluminescent splotches on his tail and the spots on the rest of his scales and they weren't exactly the best thing to light the way with above water.
[It's definitely not the most ideal place to hold a conversation true. Or at least not in so far as actual lighting goes. But then again, Never Was had been too, and they'd all managed well enough there, even if it had had the advantage in the assorted neon lights besides. Besides, even if Xigbar had the ability to create some sort of light, there's no guarantee that it wouldn't go as wrong as his teleporting has.]
You guess?
[There's a raised eyebrow as if to say 'what, you don't know for sure?' but he moves easily enough to the rest of the questions all the same.]
[Muttering something to himself about bad luck and bad timing, Demyx drums short claws against the scales of his arm. Who'd have guessed he missed that by holing himself up in that apartment for a couple days?]
Did, uh... the people around town explain everything? The witches and stuff?
[Scales and claws are... definitely not a typical look for Demyx. But Xigbar refrains from asking about them - yet. After all, he's already seen that the world has some pretty strange effects going on with regards to magic.]
Pretty sure I got the basics, yeah. Is that why the new look?
[He looks around for a moment, and when he turns his head a certain way his eyes seem to glow under the moonlight. When it seems like he doesn't find what he's looking for, he shrugs, pushes off from the rock, and moves himself closer to shore to haul himself up onto the bank. A majority of his tail stays in the water, but there's no mistaking what he is now, even in the dark.]
Ta-da~ S'not bad, right? I mean, it kinda sucked when it first started, but... It's not so bad now?
[It's certainly not a bad look, he has to admit. Different, sure, but it fits.]
Seems like it'd make getting around on land kinda tricky, though.
[For now, he's not going to address the implications that it hadn't been a neat and easy transformation. It's interesting, yes. But why bother going into the details of that, when there are other things to talk about that are just as interesting.]
[He'd draw his knees up to his chest if he had them, but since he doesn't he sort of picks at some stray bits of grass that decided to get stuck to his tail instead and lets it twist and curl near the end.]
I can climb in and out just fine, but I'm heavier than I look now. If I gotta drag myself anywhere, I kinda give up halfway and whine until someone carries or drags me the rest of the way. It's way too much effort, yanno?
[There's a moment of silence, and then Xigbar plops himself down on the grass. No need to keep standing, if all they're doing is having a casual conversation.]
Sounds like it. 'Specially since it's not like that place with all the mermaids back home.
[There's too much land and not enough ocean, for one.]
How often do you have to bother people into helping out?
[It's idle curiosity, pure and simple. But if Demyx is willing to share, Xigbar is more than willing to listen.]
[Demyx, you're only saying that because it hits all of your buttons for Best Worlds To Work In.]
But uh, not a lot? Usually it's only if it starts raining outta nowhere, 'cause I guess if I get wet... Poof, bye-bye legs. And when the moons're full, I think. It's... kinda why I'm out here.
[The normal full moon isn't bad, but this one was a rough one for some reason. The last thing he wants to do is get kicked out of that dinky apartment because he drove his roommate crazy.]

What're you doing up there? When'd you get here?

And eh, a couple of days ago. Why?
