Don't worry Xichen, Julian knows all about having a big fat mess of complicated relationships. And someone sweet and patient would definitely do him good to be around. He has a practical bossy sister to keep him in line in canon, but a patient, quiet brother type would probably be good for him, too!

Xichen can trade his seemingly bottomless well of meditative patience and moral support for any experience and worldliness that Julian can offer too! He is real good at being a good advice friend, but he also grew up on a mountain in a clan that doesn't exactly do much with normal life and coming to aef is opening up all the doors for learning new things. Also gay fantasy ancient china, so that could be good thread material. How do you do anything, really.

He can music real good?

That's definitely something Julian can chat about; he has travelled a lot, and isn't very good at staying in one place for extended periods of time. He has a lot of life experience! Even if a large amount of it is questionable. He also...really likes telling stories about his adventures, even if some of them are most certainly exaggerated...he's a lover not a fighter no matter what tall tales he might tell, ahah. He also comes from a world set in the equivilant to 15th - 16th century Earth...but with magic and everyone is bi, he even has a non-binary ex so that's...a thing.

And Julian plays the vielle! So that's something they sort of have in common.

Honestly, for a guy that hasn't really gone many places outside of official clan politics business, an adventurer would be amazing to talk to. He'll be really impressed, because Aef is the newest experience he has ever had and not even by choice. Teach him all of these exaggerated but wonderful things please.

And Xichen would like that! He's always happy to bond over music since that is his clan's signature magic technique.
