CR & PLOTTING: AUGUST

CR & PLOTTING: AUGUST

While July might've been a little hectic on the real life side of things (show of hands for everyone who's grateful August is here now), in-game, it was a little bit more lowkey. With the weather reaching its peak in summer, a few Witches decided to bring it down a notch - or several, resulting in a fairly snowy month. A last minute snowstorm stirred up at the end, leaving the cold to roll into August's early weeks - mind yourselves, everyone!

The weather aside, the city and its people didn't take too much of a break. The Coven, deciding that a follow up on the cave was necessary, especially with the discovery of a ley-line beneath it, put out a request to help get Smugha Cave into more suitable base order. They were immensely grateful for the help they received, too; not everyone in the Coven is trained to handle what the Wilde can dish out. With the area better secured, they turn their eyes to the next part of their plan to establish a firm foothold in the Wilde: connecting directly to the ley-line, creating an anchor point for teleportation. Amidst this, Nerissa Bell - head of the Coven - called for a bit of a meeting for everyone who could attend, just for everyone to share any information, queries, and so on - if they'd like, or if they could. With those major points out of the way...

Quest: Special Training

As more than a few of you have already noticed, a quest log will be going up on August 9th for some training by the Wilders. While not exactly an event proper, this will be an opportunity for characters to head into the deeper part of the Wilde in a similar fashion to the last one in June for the exploration of Smugha Cave. We won't spoil too many details for all of you, but just like the last one, it might have some connection to a place in the last dream everyone got to have - that is, July's TDM. Sign-ups are on-going and open to everyone, so if it piques your interest now or when the log goes up, feel free to toss your character up there!

Event: The Black City

Speaking of shared dreams: no points for guessing what our next event log is. Like clockwork, characters will fall asleep on the night of the 16th regardless of if they can truly sleep or need to - and awaken in a dream. They'll find themselves within a city not unlike Aefenglom in structure, but with a major difference: there aren't any Monsters walking freely. Instead, they're leashed and collared, heads lowered in submission - and those who have Monster traits coming in will find they're under the same curse as these ones: they have to obey every order that comes from a Witch's mouth, whether it's a joke or not. Attempting to fight it will give them pain, nausea, and other adverse effects in increasing intensity until they give in, or until the Witch lifts their order.

And just like in the last shared dream, as well as the TDMs, a character's rate of transformation and the number of spells/how powerful they are can be played with - it is a dream, after all!

LA | John Childermass | Witch

Player Name: LA
Pronouns: she/her
Contact: er3shkigal#2557 on Discord or PM
Timezone: CST

Character Name: John Childermass
Canon: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
Appearance: this guy
Brief: Childermass is the former man of business (aka the guy who did all the actual work, lbr) of Mr. Norrell, who was one of the only two magicians in all of Regency-era England. He is also a magician in his own right, which, technically, meant England had three magicians, it's just he never counted until very recently. He comes off as a very stoic, business-like sort of man, albeit with a knack for deadpan commentary whether people want it or not.
Choice: Witch
Event Plans:

Special Training
He'll be involved in this just to learn more about the Wilde and get a chance to practice magic. He'll probably be trying to copy that cool shield spell he did back in the TDM dream with varying degrees of success and failure while here.

The Black City
Oh boy, another shared dream. He isn't sure what to make of this one but, as a witch, he won't be too inclined to order monsters around. If anything, with all that magic power back, he may offer to glamour them into looking normal.

General Plans:

Still doing stuff in the intro log over here.

Wabbit Season— i mean pygmy jack season? He's doing the city quest where he's looking for little jackalopes for money. There won't be a separate log for that but feel free to hit up my intro log top level with a random prompt like Lambert has (or ask for one here, s'all good either way).

Magic Practice
He's lost his own magic! So he needs to replace that as soon as possible with witch magic. He'll be spending an obnoxious amount of time wherever learning this stuff happens (the Coven? Coven library? I need to check locations again...). Right now he's looking specifically at Illusions, Divination, and Abjuration, but he'll probably pick up small basic spells first. He'll be spending whatever time he isn't looking for work or sleeping just practicing spells.

This Wedding Holiday Thing
He's being an ass and refusing to play along with the surprise weddings happening all over town. I'm open to someone bullying him into at least trying to fit in a little (or just to stop ruining someone else's big day).

Barracks
He's decided to stay in the barracks part of the Haven for now. Maybe he's in the same section of the barracks as your character?
