[OOC: Elidibus posts as username: ardbert and is known as Elidibus by only a few. 4th Wall visitors are plenty welcome!]

1. No, I do not expect much. Two dozen shall be sufficient.

2. The 'poncho' did little to protect from the flames. I went through the fence and the blood loss was considerable.

3. Are you still at the harpy's dwelling?

4. By no means should you uncuff him. Regardless of how much he pleads. He is aware of his transgressions.

5. I have been consistently asked if we are dating.

6. It seemed as though I intruded upon an important ceremony. Everyone was dressed in their best attire while I was covered in dirt and blood.

7. You will find a pair of sunglasses in my room. I ask that you bring them to the privy. You may be tempted to ask questions. I ask you to spare me the effort for now.

I

Uh...

Wow that's unfortunate.

[Nervous laughter... she certainly didn't make any sarcastic comments someone took seriously or anything...]

Strange. I am certain I sent this to Lahabrea and Emet-Selch.

[The thoughtful frown can probably be heard!]

But I suppose it's possible the same assumption may occur if your neighbors are as presumptuous as my own. Tell them what you wish.
omnicrafter: (whyfore)

[personal profile] omnicrafter 2021-05-16 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems more likely, but still. You could do better than Lahabrea at this point.

[Cough...]

Not that I'm encouraging you to test that or anything.

Setting aside any thought of interest in the matter, pray tell what manner of being would you claim better?

[Yes, he typed being. And yes it is probably interchangeable with 'fragmented soul calling itself a person'. But you know. Ascians, man.]

People who aren't certifiably crazy?
notbert: 'Cheerful' (Default)

hey that's his bro you're calling crazy

[personal profile] notbert 2021-05-17 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Lahabrea has ever been one with whom few are possessed the patience needed to remain in his company for long periods of time. But you overstep your bounds by judging him through such narrow, mortal lens.

[It takes patience, delicate handling, patience, love, an immortal lifespan, and patience to deal with Lahabrea's genius, clearly.]
omnicrafter: (is that your final answer?)

[personal profile] omnicrafter 2021-05-17 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspect you mean more than a mortal lifetime's worth of patience, at least.

Unfortunately, that's most of what you're like to find around here.

Then it seems I would not be able to 'do better' if I were to pursue an intimate relationship.

This aside, what burdens of our star can you set aside for myself or Emet-Selch which you cannot for Lahabrea? I have yet to see him act in a way in Aefenglom which would give even a mortal's narrow view a reason to complain his mind is unstable.

And you are not blind to the fact that neither I nor Emet-Selch have done any less than Lahabrea in pursuit of our united purpose.

Honestly, even stripping away everything from our world, our personalities clash. I don't really hate him, but we definitely piss each other off whether we mean to or not. At this point, I think we mutually try to be civil to each other, but I hesitate to believe I'll get much else out of him.
notbert: 'Cheerful' (Default)

Sorry this took so long to get back to! ;_;

[personal profile] notbert 2021-05-28 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
If we are to strip away our past biases, explain then what mutual civility there is when your first words are to so bluntly tell one his brethren and Bonded that he is insane and not worth their effort?

Lahabrea has done nothing on this wretched Star to earn such bias. A simple clash of personality would not come close to excusing what you call 'civility'. And if it is a taste of how you inevitably react to him in your encounters, expecting the worst, then it is no wonder you have come into constant conflict.

[With text it is usually hard to say if it is anger or just blunt statement. But it seems to be a little bit of both, if not also a touch of impatience.]

I know you do not like hearing me speak so plainly a truth. But you must at least be aware of this much? You may keep your opinion of Lahabrea. But do not try to pretend you are setting it aside when you have yet to do so.
omnicrafter: (admonishment)

[personal profile] omnicrafter 2021-05-28 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
I still have a hard time believing he doesn't have much the same in terms of expectations. You and he are both biased in the same direction, so of course you wouldn't see it that way. But don't blame me entirely for it. As long as things are the way they are, he won't budge. So I've given him his space for lack of any better tactic.
notbert: 'Cheerful' (Default)

[personal profile] notbert 2021-06-04 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You should know enough about me and my office to realize I am capable of recognizing the presence of blame in all parties involved. The existence of fault in Lahabrea's behavior or that I would be inclined to defend my brethren and Bonded does not absolve or lessen your own mistakes.

You control your own actions, Irhya. Accusing someone of lunacy based solely on your past hatred is not unbiased. Nor is it setting aside your history with him for a civil co-existence.
omnicrafter: (lingering gaze)

[personal profile] omnicrafter 2021-06-04 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
What would you have us do, then? What would you have me do? I'm not being sardonic, I'm seriously asking.
notbert: 'Cheerful' (Default)

[personal profile] notbert 2021-06-05 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I cannot speak for what Lahabrea should do. He has not approached me on this subject. But as what you are asking for yourself, you should reflect on your memories of these encounters. Compare such words with how you would address a friend or a stranger. How you speak of said stranger or friend to another. Would you have spoken to them or of them in that fashion?

You are not strangers so I ask you use it as a frame of reference. If you wish to try for a civil relationship with Lahabrea, do not expect it to be easy or all your history in this city to be washed away with one encounter. Current matters aside, building any trust will take time.

I had thought until now that I already did. The singular actual conversation we had was pretty awkward and stiff, so I went over it again in my head, to try and remember if I was being hostile to him or something. But it's been a while since then, so perhaps that isn't the best instance to use as an example anymore.

...I suppose him remembering me specifically could be more of a hindrance than a help, too.
notbert: 'Cheerful' (Default)

[personal profile] notbert 2021-06-09 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Your manner of tone and speech in our conversations alone oft invites me to wonder otherwise. I do not mention this to anger you but to provide the perspective I have personally witnessed.

You invited me to tell you the truth about who I actually was but desired to hide from it moments later.

I will not count the affects of the ring's curse as a direct example though you should presume almost anything you approached me about other than its dissolution would be inappropriate.

Your singular attitude seems to demand that everything be the way you desire or expect it regardless of what you actually say. It is expected to be frustrating when it is not. But then it appears that frustration leads you to stop thinking in the moment.

At the beginning of this conversation, do you feel you spoke your words about Lahabrea to me in jest or seriousness? Did you think how I may have received even a jest? This is another example of words before thought. The problem does not necessarily exist between you, myself and Lahabrea alone.

Yes. I bear your presence better because you are only a reflection of what you represent from my perspective. Should the Warrior of Darkness or Warrior of Light I know have been the first to appear before me, I would have reacted differently. Regardless, it is another matter to keep in mind.

Have you considered apologizing to Lahabrea for your attitude since you arrived and ask how your words seem to him? Or in the event that matters cannot be reconciled, simply exchange the bare minimum of greetings necessary and go about your way?

[It's hard to reconcile all that with an answer. The trouble is, he's right on the mark about that bit about her temper and spouting off before thinking, so she's biting hard on her lip to try and keep it together.

Eventually, she writes back.]

I don't really know what to say to all that other than offer an acknowledgment. I heard you. I'll think about it.

But I have to ask, do you think that's truly what he wants? I imagine I could do it, sure, but the odds he'll rebuff it are... higher than zero, at any rate.

[Stopping to think is the very thing he suggested she do. He's not going to judge if it takes a long while to get a response.]

Very well.

I can no more speak on what Lahabrea wants than ask him questions he is not here to answer. I only offer my advice on what you could choose to do. Whether you do so is entirely in your hands.

Whether he wants to or not is in his. I will only offer my advice to him if he solicits it.

[No insight on whether it will work is offered. Likely to prevent it from influencing whatever choice Irhya has to make on her own.]
