Plotting Post: April, Tangled Terrors Part One
Please note that Part Two of the event will be only in the Underground, but the widespread effects on magic and Bonds will last until Part Two wraps up.
- Tangled Terrors, Part One
- April 1-6: The call for help comes from the Underground farmers worried about their velvet wormipede herds. Mirrorbound volunteers start heading over to help and investigate what could be causing this, discovering a Cwyld infection despite the Underground's protective moss veils.
- April 6-16: Expedition parties head deeper and deeper into the infected caverns beyond the underground city, encountering many dangers and complications along the way. The effect on their magic and Bonds grows in intensity throughout this period, worsening the deeper they go. Eventually, they find a massive, heavily infected cavern housing the source of the problem...
- April 10 & on: The adverse effects caused by the disturbance underground reach all the way to Aefenglom and will continue to impact magic and Bonds until the problem is resolved.

Brief: A hunter from a place where you kill werewolves, not marry them. She's learned some from her time here, but doesn't always trust Monsters she doesn't know immediately. In fact, she's pretty slow to warm up to anyone in general. That said, she likes gardening and brewing alcohol, and she teaches fencing at a high-end school for upper class ladies.
Event Plans: Well, at least her spidey sense tingling was right - and boy howdy was it right. More right than she ever even remembers it being before. She's glad she tagged along for the quest early on, but this whole thing is... well, it's bad. She's a currently Unbonded Witch, so it's all probably going to hit her quite hard. So hard, I think she might retreat to go see if she can smack on the dragon tree to see if Créia can be found anywhere.
If not, well, she's going to Hate It, but luckily... she doesn't really rely on her magic that much, and is just as comfortable fighting on main strength. It's a lot like how it used to be at home.
Otherwise, randomized Bonds are a go, actually. She's going to Hate Every Moment Of It.

Otherwise, it's spring, so it's planting season, and she's expecting to mostly hang out in her garden and let her flowers come up. If only it was that easy.

Brief: Veteran idol from a very normal world who nonetheless has to deal with ridiculous amounts of manipulative bullshit, powerful people politics, and occasionally people trying to kill him and is thus very good at dealing with that sort of thing. Very kind and friendly, but much less actually trusting than he appears and has a lot of hidden depths. Has self-worth somewhere in the dumpster fire levels and tends to go feral when anyone/anything threatens his loved ones.
Event Plans: SO Momo is going to feel kind of a responsibility here because he was the one who initially proposed teaching the Underground people how to cleanse leylines way back when they were first having Cwyld issues. So he'll likely be already down there when it starts since he was doing the quest aspect too, and will definitely be heading out to investigate and meeting with the negative magic side-effects that come with it. He tends to be worried less about things happening to himself than to others, so he won't be too fussed about the effects on himself...but since it fucks with Bonds and at the very least Yuki is likely to be with him, he's going to be very upset about the possibility of anything he does backfiring onto either of his Bonded, and pretty focused on making sure Yuki makes it through in one piece. Considering the few days it'll take to actually get anywhere, he'll be aiming himself a lot at supporting others through the experience.
As for Bond fuckery, while I'd rather not do any Bond-swapping type stuff, Momo does have one free Bond slot, so I'm open to him ending up with a sudden extra Bond during all this! I've got something up for him on the Bond Finder TL on the event post for plotting that, though.

Rynn | Yona | Akatsuki no Yona

Brief: former princess turned badass, she's been here as a witch for over a year now and was deeply involved in the Underground missions when it was first discovered.
Event Plans:
OH BOY this sounds like everything is going to be terrible. >.> I made a lot of plans with people for Underground things when the quests came up this month, but if people want to move those options to here, I will be giving her a top-level here shortly.
Since she's been involved in cleansing the leylines before - and down here in particular - she'd be among the early responders to head out and inspect these for herself. She was already down checking out the wormipedes shortly after the news reached the city and Yona is determined enough to see her tasks through that she would absolutely dive headfirst into whatever new threat the outpost is facing.
This means, of course, she's going to be hit pretty hard with backlash and her magic going out of control. She's never had a bad cwyld infection in her time here, and having it infect her magic is going to hit her doubly hard (sorry ahead of time to her poor Bonded...) She's also not a negative person by nature, so many of the emotional and psychological effects this will have are going to be just as draining on her as the infection and magic-use itself.
While I'm not planning on doing too much with the bond-breaking and switching, I am open to discussion if that's a thing you want to try with her - although by this point in the month, I think all three of her bond spots are filled, so that could have repercussions in its own way.
Basically, I am SUPER HYPE for this event and I love all things involved with the Underground since Yona has such a soft spot for this place. Come at me, friends!

Ciri | The Witcher | Monster
Canon: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Brief: A former princess with ridiculous time/space travel powers, now basically a monster-hunter for hire and soon to be a Monster herself (Turnskin, though she doesn't know it yet). Looks like this. Even if she ends up in more Victorian clothing, she's still going to have the sword and no one can convince her otherwise.
Event Plans: She's brand-new and still settling in, dealing with some Family Drama(tm), so she'll be around the city when everything starts going to hell. And have no idea what's going on!! Even worse, with no big monsters in the city to fight directly, how is the sword even going to help?? I'd love to have her experience some unpleasant temp Bond stuff, especially since she's super unfamiliar with what Bonding even means. Other than that though, probably just gonna focus on having her meet some folks... bad timing, huh. Whoops.
Anything else? She'll probably peek at quests once she knows those happen. That's a pretty familiar concept to her, at least! She'll be moving into Witcher Fam House, where she'll be well taken care of, but it would be nice to have some money of her own.
Also, I really want CR that will help teach her about "modern" stuff because even though she's experienced some other worlds, she's still just a medieval lass. Someone please introduce her to chocolate.

I'm down with having them meet via quests, or even temp Bond stuff if you think that'd be fun! Alice wouldn't go for the Cwyld research just because of the Evergreen Circle stuff, but I could make anything else work.

Killua Zoldyck | Hunter x Hunter | Witch
Canon: Hunter x Hunter
Brief: Teen shounen deuteragonist, ex-assassin with a heart of gold, irredeemable tsundere and chocolate enthusiast. One time he wore the world's ugliest pants. He's a Witch, so he'll be having a Rough Time this month :')
Event Plans: Likely he'll be staying in the city since he's already had enough of the Cwyld and only recently recovered from a dire infection after the cult bullshit in Feb. I'm looking for some Bond mix-ups for him and to expand his CR pool, especially with characters closer to his age (he's 15, so other teens and young adults). Regarding magical backlash, his specialty is evocation and his focus is lightning magic, so if anyone wants to experience or witness some bright explosions and get caught up in a lightning storm or something, this is the place!
Anything else? Killua's on a quest to make tank tops and T-shirts fashionable in Aefenglom. Talk to him about bad fashion.
Waver Velvet | Fate/Zero | Turnskin
Canon: Fate/Zero
Brief: Former mage, now a Turnskin who stubbornly continues to specialize in alchemy as much as possible. He co-owns Inkchanted.
Event Plans: For the first few days, Waver will be sticking around in the city (and available for hitting up if your character is doing the Healing Vibes quest). When things start to get wonky though and his Bonded (Iskandar) encounters trouble down in the Underground, Waver will be making his way over there with any later expedition parties and hurrying to catch up just as things are getting really bad around the middle of the month. Looking for Bonding issues, nightmare sharing, bad attitudes and a possible feral episode if anyone is interested in scuffling with a tiny dog lmao.
Anything else? On the hunt for new CR! Nerdy types and magic theory enthusiasts like him, and/or enthusiastic friendly types to get him out of his shell more. Early in the month, Waver will also be available to chat about Inkchanted stuff and peeking into the Dark Desires Cafe.
Ran | Iskandar | Fate/Zero

Brief:
World's greatest military commander, conqueror and king, Alexander the Great, turned Heroic Spirit. Quite content to be alive again. Likes good food, good drink, and above all else good company. Very friendly, terrible temper. In Aefenglom he's a Witch and specializes in Abjuration so barriers, wards and healing magic. An awful lot of healing magic. Steadily becoming better at Enchantment and Evocation.
Event Plans:
He was part of the initial effort to help the wormipede farmers so he will stay to investigate. And he took part in the original experimental leylines cleansing near the current Northern Outpost. On top of that, only recently finally got over his visceral hatred and distrust for magic.
Since he got to rely a lot on it but still does not really understand how all of this works, the event is going to hit him hard. He's no magic theorist so at first he will have trouble figuring out what is happening and assume any misfires are just him messing up a spell. Until he botches something he could possibly do in his sleep after three days of drinking, but then it would be too late. All that is guaranteed to put him in a very rare and very awful foul mood.
Misfiring spells can include his own tattoos and various enchantments he has on his weapons and armour. He will be wearing full set, so there's potential for a lot of disasters. Other stuff that can go awry: healing spells, barriers and some low level evocation i.e. fire magic.
I'm open for all sorts of terrible (or wholesome) shenanigans. Also temp Bonds or mixed up Bonds too. Iskandar is currently only Bonded with Waver but I'm open to mixing things up.
