Hello hello! It is time for another CR and plotting meme, with a side of plurk and discord sharing if you are so inclined!

A few quick notes and reminders:
• Aefenglom's March TDM is now live! Feel free to share it around and invite your friends!
• We have a brand-new game wiki! Pages are still being updated, and the FAQ on the game journal is being updated and simplified accordingly, but the wiki is alive and kickin' so go ahead and check it out! We know there's a lot of world and lore info that's built up over the game's lifetime, so we hope that the wiki format will be more easily searchable and user-friendly.

Brief: A TV star from the Underground, Mettaton is a loud, confident, and vain entertainment robot. Though he comes from a world where monsters were sealed Underground by humanity, Mettaton harbors an adoration for humankind and is fascinated by them and their culture. He's eccentric and showy, and will do anything to achieve his dream of becoming a star. Mettaton can spin even mundane things into something engaging somehow, and his fans think he's just as attractive as he thinks he is. For as self-absorbed and neglectful he can be at his worst, Mettaton is passionate and cares deeply for his fans and loved ones when he's not too busy with himself. What drives Mettaton is making a difference and propelling action, and he takes this into all facets of his life, from his ambitions, to his fans, to the love lives of his friends. (Kiss already.) What is your character currently up to?

Oh, man, Mettaton had quite a month last month. He caught the Cwyld and ended up dead for it after killing Emet-Selch, and is now on the mend. As a robot who didn't sustain too much damage, he's doing a lot better now! In the process, though, he lost two of his closest friends last month. Mettaton made a post to check-in in on his fellow Mirrorbound and talking about his own experience; I still welcome tag-ins if that's your thing. Fun times! Hopefully things will start getting better now.

Plans for the month:

I'm going to be doing a lot of tagging out with MTT this month as he recuperates, especially using TDM prompts. Feel free to let me know if you'd like to do some dream shenanigans with MTT! Likewise, I'm open to involving him in any manner of quests, though he'll need a good reason to get involved with the Cwyld right now.

Types of CR wanted:

As it often goes, a good chunk of MTT's long-standing CR has departed in the past few months, and I'd love to have him meet new people! Whether you're characters new, or newly dealing with some facets of Aefenglom, Mettaton would be more than happy to give them advice—whether helpful or misguided.

If your character is a particularly sour or negative type who is withdrawn, mean, or just sad, apply Mettaton to them and see what happens. Which is to say, I enjoy playing Mettaton against withdrawn sorts that normally just want to be left alone! He's very good at bothering other people and twisting their arms.

Really though, I can never predict what any outcome will be for any given CR. I'm eager for all of it, as lazy-sounding of an answer as that is.

Any types of CR or situations you'd rather avoid? Nothing I'd like to avoid! But Mettaton is in a committed relationship, so romance is off the table.
Other: As a general note about my activity as of late: I've been having some family health scares since about December '20, but things are going very well now and I hope to get my head back in the game. I apologize to those of you whose threads I let idle out; your tags are still in my inbox, no matter how old, and I plan on tagging them still should you wish to continue. If not, I understand completely. Please always feel free to shoot me a PM for any reason.

Brief: he's a nosy asshole, who is also very polite and likes to chat.
What is your character currently up to? He works part-time in the bakery, but he is already considering other means of making money such as opening his own business. For the most part, he's just trying to go on as normal.

Plans for the month: None in particular! My big goal for the month to branch out CR-wise for him.

Might you be interested in encountering Lahabrea? He's a dragon currently, and would likely be pleased to meet someone over five centuries old. While he's unpleasant or outright hostile to mortals, immortals and the very long lived are treated a fair bit differently!

I'm not overly familiar with Aziraphale or his canon, but if he has any scholarly leanings at all, they might get along reasonably well.

hello! Waver here is also a turnskin (a doggo). He wasn't non-human before coming to Aef, though he was a mage!

what kind of stuff does Aziraphale's bakery sell? do they also have tea? He likes visiting bakeries and doing work at places like tea shops so perhaps they could run into each other!

Waver also co-owns Inkchanted, an enchanted tattoo parlor in the Harbor District that advertises itself as helping Monsters use magic in a more reliable and less bulky way than buying a bunch of charms and spell scrolls -- if Aziraphale might be interested in something like that!

tbh I'm pretty much open to anything and also looking to branch out with CR. :)

so, while I am on hiatus right now, Crowley-mun and I have been talking about doing something in the future since our boy Tony happened upon some juicy demon-related secrets Howl has been keeping for a long time and that just to happens to qualify him as pretty much the only person in the game who can help Howl with a demon-related problem. The issue is that they kinda hate each other because both of them are, well, you know. Prats. So I don't think Howl could get Crowley to help him even if he managed to find him again. xD Perhaps Aziraphale might be willing to get involved??

Brief:  Son of Dracula and Lisa Tepes.  The latter got murdered after being accused of witchcraft, the former tried to destroy Wallachia in response.  Alucard did a patricide, and then ended up in Aef.  A year and a half later, Alucard's managed much of his grief and is a mostly functional dahmpir
What is your character currently up to? He's been hanging out lately.  Last month's cult adventures had him go :[ at the results as the actual research concept did have his interest.  Since the coven is now doing research of their own, he's helping there.
Plans for the month: He's helping with Coven research because he's getting paid to fuck about in the woods all month.  To him this is like, ideal.
Types of CR wanted: Generally just a few more relationships where he can discuss and be open.  Alucard's not exactly looking for more bonds or romance, but I am absolutely into exploring both options if they seem like a good fit.

Brief: Geralt was raised as a monster hunter and underwent some shady mutations as a child to get here; for the last 100 years or so, he's just been trying to live his life without complications and failing horribly. On the surface, he's usually pretty gruff and rough around the edges. He tries to do the right thing, though.

What is your character currently up to? After Jaskier was kidnapped last month, Geralt's been having a bit of a Time, so you'll usually find him drinking and catching naps in the woods (usually as a wolf) because he hasn't really been sleeping much at night. It's a long story. Please don't ask.

Plans for the month: He has a catch-all here; I'll be tossing up an open prompt or two soon, but in addition, if you'd like a personal starter just let me know!

Brief:
Gon is a sheltered boy from a tiny port island who has endured a lot of trauma for such a tiny, good boy. he's working on stifling his self destructive nature in lieu of appreciating that sometimes the way you treat your body/life has impact on the people who love you. he has a lot of self worth issues, and used to be OP as fuck, but was nerfed in his own canon even before arriving here. other than that, he's really friendly and sweet, though sometimes prone to some existential waxing a kid shouldn't be privy to. he will teach you how to cook and how to fish. he's also got a green thumb like a motherfucker, and is still disproportionately mighty—so if you need nature and education in natural science, or physical labor, he's your guy. also: he loves to fight. if u just wanna throw down he is also your guy
What is your character currently up to?
Gon is recovering from his best friend (which has gotten kind of ...not-platonic, but Gon doesn't have enough reference to understand that) getting infected by the Cwyld and being kidnapped into a cult for exploitation. Gon caught the Cwyld as well, but way less severely; he's presently just laying low and trying to nurture simple, pleasant things for the healing of both him and his friend... but he still has to get that bread so he's still working at the docks with fishing, or doing misc quests.
Plans for the month:
some of Gon's close friends have evaporated into the ether... he needs more! he's also going to be getting tatted up bc he's sick of being So Fucking Weak And Useless.
Types of CR wanted: ANY. in particular Gon needs to be getting tight with other fauns. herd mentality, but he's also always been a person deeply at peace at and in harmony with nature.

Appearance: long, grotseque, and terrible. Midousuji also has an tongue maybe around 6" long. he seldom blinks. he has wide shoulders, a wide ribcage, a tiny waist, and dead eyes. his appearance is meant to unnerve. presently, unlike the reference provided, his hair is buzzed short, but he still has that cycling kit that he wears in pieces. he might appear older than he is due to his build, due to having had an aggressive growth spurt years ago.
Brief:
dead inside, but not trying to lean into it too hard. Midousuji is unpalatable as a person, and not only that, he's also remorselessly cruel. like most anime teenagers, he also has gristly trauma, in his case stemming from the death of his mother when he was around 11. Midousuji has always been bullied/picked on for being weird as fuck and gross, so when he became so monstrously huge that everyone left him the fuck alone, he decided to lean into those qualities specifically to shake people off of him. he's impressively and stubbornly closed off, and treats every olive branch or act of kindness as a threat on his life and with great suspicion. he's quite clever, but developmentally set way back due to how he's boxed himself in because of his trauma, and also probably because of his weird brain. Midousuji is distrustful and resentful of 99% of people, finding their MOs gross by nature, and by some margin, doesn't find himself identifying with the rest of humanity/their societies. also, the only thing he's good at is riding bikes, and he only got good at that due to visiting his mom in the hospital from the sticks every day before she passed. what i mean is that he fucking sucks at everything and has to do it 200 more times than anyone. he's ridiculously uncoordinated and ungraceful off of a bike, and aefenglom is no place for road racing. i put him here to suffer for his crimes
What is your character currently up to?
Midousuji arrived 2/14, and still isn't totally convinced that this isn't some elaborate coma dream from getting his shit smacked by a car or something while training. he's debating pouring his obsessive energy into magic study, as he thinks that's where going back home lays (aka, where he has a purpose)—but he's also suffering bouts of being unable to motivate himself, and feeling uncertain of who he is without the paradigm of his person hinged on his home universe. ALSO: he's working part time at the bike shop as a bike mechanic; he'd taken the job as a quest to yell at people about how fucking stupid pennyfarthings are, and he'll be there until he either gets fired for being a weird asshole, or he gets sick of how wrong bikes are in this world.
(FOR THOSE USED TO WEIRD NON HUMAN TYPES, Midousuji's uncanny valley might make him feel off enough to where it's supernatural... but truly he is just a weird, completely human person.)
Plans for the month:
none in particular... Midousuji will probably be practicing magic for the first time. and he's gonna suck at it, cuz he sucks for a long time at anything until he suddenly gets really good at it.
Types of CR wanted:
anything! again. just to cover my bases for anything i don't think of... but anything is great, should patience allow.
- Midousuji is a great candidate for negative CR if you want that. please kick his ass. though Midousuji does keep the more contemptuous nature of his personality online, fully self aware that anyone can kick his ass in this world, esp as he hasn't yet learned or mastered magic.
- but also: potentially, someone who is self-destructively patient. will it be worth it? who knows. probably not. but Midousuji has nothing else but his own feelings in this place to focus on, so he could grow from kindness in time.
- AND ALSO: someone with bad intentions who sees someone vying into a bad direction developmentally to try to influence him for bad/evil, to essentially nurture the shitty seeds already in place. Midousuji is of course extremely stubborn, so unfortunately, even this path is enduring.

Interests: I like a lot of stuff. Mostly vidya; I enjoy horror just about anything. I'm pretty behind on new animu and mangos, but I can be convinced to read or watch about anything if it seems interesting enough.

Character Name: Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower
Canon: Bloodborne
Monster or Witch? Witch
Appearance: She's like seven hundred feet tall and made almost entirely of knives. No seriously, she's this tall to a normal-sized person. Not pictured: The scar now on her face because I am in that boat of being a terrible person who would give Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower a scar on her pretty face.
Brief: A Witch from a world where you kill werewolves, not marry them. She's been here since the start, and has gone through a lot of Character Development, where she's come to a sort of uneasy peace with the way the Monsters of this world are. She has a very dark gray moral compass and a Tragic Backstory. Here, she's a witch with a strong enchantment and evocation base, with a strong slant toward FIRE, but she also has some rather hilariously powerful teleportation magic because she uses it in place of her old quickstep ability.
What is your character currently up to? Currently, she is also Aefenglom's prime producer of mirrorbound hand-made gin in order to save money for her alcoholism problem, and works at a school teaching upper class ladies how to fence (and also giving them gay awakenings.) She frequents the Wildes and can be found outside the Bright Wall. She has horses, and plenty of experience.
Plans for the month: Um. Like half her CR is getting married, apparently! So she's going to be doing that, mostly. Otherwise, she is signed up for Gerard's Gardening, Modern Metaphysics, Birds of a Feathered Cap, and Cwyld Research for quests!
Types of CR wanted: I am down for just about anything. Maria is kind of cold and menacing and hard to get along with if you don't present a sort of calm and mature front to her, and even then it's iffy. She's down her Bonds, as well, and while Monsters tend to start off on the wrong foot with her by nature, she can be convinced! She's been here long enough to know what not being Bonded for a while feels like, and she prefers to avoid it if possible. It will be a pretty... platonic arrangement, ngl. If someone wants a quiet, platonic bond that's just for the advantages of a Bond though, hmu!
Any types of CR or situations you'd rather avoid? I pretty much welcome all comers, but Maria turns people down that bug her like. A lot. And she's pretty harsh about it. So certain types of negative CR aren't going to go very far, but the kind that come from people disagreeing with her dark gray morality are gr8, she used to have a ton of that. She's got a fucked up viewpoint from a fucked up world.

Brief: A hotblooded young man with a love of battle. Very straightforward, brusque, and often offensive without meaning to be. Not great at understanding emotions but Tries His Best, and is willing to help just about anyone who needs it.

What is your character currently up to? He is currently advertising White Day flower deliveries!
More generally, he's seeking out non-Coven magic learning, both by hunting down native non-Coven Witches and self-study. If any Witches want to help, or if anyone at all wants to stare at him trying to learn magic alone... 👍

Plans for the month: Mostly just that post, really! I am keeping things pretty low key this month because I wanna close out some old threads, so if you wanna do stuff with him, I would prefer to plan things out and organise closed threads.

Types of CR wanted: I always want him to make more friends. So if you play someone who enjoys a good argument, someone who likes to fight monsters / spar in general, someone who'll partake in a few drinking sessions (and probably outdrink him / doesn't mind carrying him home)... you should come to me!

And on the polar opposite spectrum: I would kind of love for him to meet people he would dislike in the legit way. People who are generally on the evil alignment would probably do well here. Steak is very much about what's Just and Right, protecting people and all that jazz, so anyone who goes against those moral codes would get on his wick.
—› Bonus points for both of these go to anyone who can get one over on him, because he's a hotheaded dumbass who doesn't think things through and it wouldn't be IC of me to not get him into embarrassing situations.

Any types of CR or situations you'd rather avoid? I can't think of anything, but he does have a ship in the works, so romantic CR isn't something I'm looking for. Sexy, one night things, however?? ... well.

hello! if you don't mind CR with a teen (he's 15), Killua is definitely down for sparring and shenanigans! He's small, but he's an ex-assassin with ridiculous shounen anime vibes so he can definitely hold his own. he's been antsy since he was captured by the cult last month and is itching to do some fighting/working out/arguing/exploring anything to hold his interest and get him out of the house, tbh. I just posted an open log for him if you're interested!

I'm also down to plot around and always open for ideas, so feel free to suggest things if you like. I'm happy to make a custom starter!

Brief: Used to be the staff officer and primary strategist of the Greil Mercenaries, a mercenary company his best (and formerly only) friend inherited from his father. Will die for that friend, and it isn't a stretch to say that he has devoted himself completely to him. Now he is a dragon separated from his life's purpose, simply trying to survive the threats of this world until the day they can be reunited again.
What is your character currently up to? He's currently recovering mentally and emotionally from being brainwashed by the Evergreen Circle, so that includes weird memory issues.
Plans for the month: See above, but if there's any interest in threading out some participation in some of that Cwyld research either later in the month or next month, I'm down to plot that. I won't be erecting any top-levels for it.
Types of CR wanted: I'm not picky, here. Soren is difficult to get close to, but I love it when characters try. He's very, very slowly learning how to open up to others a little better, but he's still... Soren, lmao. I'm also looking for Soren to at least make some more acquaintances; he is generally more interested in getting to know others for his own personal benefit/the benefit of those within his closed CR circle. I'm also down for friction/banter and negative CR, since Soren is pretty good at making people he meets hate him.

Shocking, I tell you. He's fully transformed into a snek naga now, member of the Mirrorbound Council, bonded to Lan Xichen, and trying to make life work out for him... which has HONESTLY not been great this last month or so and he's really been left to consider his (and other people's) life choices after some fallout from his own ill intentions again.

What is your character currently up to? Feeling really sore about how plans fell apart and acting like he got seriously hurt so he's been lying low... but he can't stay inside for months. :(
Plans for the month: Nothing firm yet! I think he might help out with the Green Tea Petal Room quest, mmmmaybe some serious talks at some time with some CR to deal with the fallout of last month.
Types of CR wanted: After pretty suddenly finding himself with some hard negatives, I'll pass on new negative CR for a bit (Myr and his crewwww excluded obviously!). But otherwise open for anything! He's in a romantic relationship also, but that's kinda in bad shape right now and I enjoy Uncomfortable Situations... so things in that vein can be fun to play with too, just be aware it might not go anywhere, LOL. Appearance: Japanese woman with red hair in her 30s with red fox ears and legs, crocodile scales down her back and tail but there are several patches of skin missing.
Brief: Saori Nakagawa is a motherly figure who loves tea and mythology and folklore. One day, she was spirited away by a youkai with the intent to eat her soul as power-up. Even though her human life ended, she learned how to fight monsters like the one who killed her and also got married, had twins, and became one of two deities that make up the Shinto god Inari.
What is your character currently up to? She runs the izakaya Fushimi, but she's now facing some set backs due to recovering from the kidnapping and the experimenting done to her.
Plans for the month: She's actually going to see more help with the izakaya. It's a small, but the flexibility to work which night makes it so people can do quests. Heck, if she gets enough interest, she might consider a delivery option. Quest wise, I was thinking Modern Metaphyics, so she'd be listening to lectures and even provide one herself. Bonus quest would be Curiouser Cats but she may need more help than she'd like to admit. Feel free to drag her home or lecture her.
Types of CR wanted: More tired adults who are older than they look, regulars to the izakaya to chat with, future employees, maybe more adult fun time buddies. She's hesitating on getting more bonds because she's so concerned about her current partner.

Crowley is, at home, a demon who didn't 'mean to fall' but just 'sauntered vaguely downwards'. He likes doing small amounts of bad things but is fundamentally awful demon because he doesn't enjoy things like killing children or ending the world, and thinks gluing coins to pavements and causing traffic jams is brilliant. He isn't a good person, he does still cause damage, but he's pretty low level evil. He's also FULL Of chaotically bad advice and intense nosiness, so if you want someone to follow you around and drag something out of your character that's something he might be good at!
What is your character currently up to?
Having spent months 'freelancing' Aziraphale has brought up that maybe an actual solid long term job might be for the best, so Crowley is trying to work out how he can Have A Long Term Job and also not work. Owning a business seems best. On the table so far are like, record store or maybe jazz club? He's looking into options.
Plans for the month:
Scouting out current businesses and trying to work out what a good Niche is and, also, how he can persuade people to run this for him so he just gets money with minimal effort.

Character Name: Elidibus
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Monster or Witch? Witch

Appearance: Human male, about 5'8" or 5'9". Short brown hair and ice blue eyes. An endearing 'youthful' face though he seems to be in his early twenties or so. Has a muscular built and is often seen in armor made of fur, leather and scales and carrying around a giant axe.

Brief: Elidibus is an Ascian, ancient beings who manipulate and shape the events of several worlds in order to cause the Rejoining, which will allow their God to become whole and also as a means to restore their race to their true state. He is one of three 'Unsundered', intact souls who guide the other sundered Ascians they have ascended. He is immensely amazing as a diplomat, schemer, liar and manipulator and has had well over ten thousand years to perfect it.

Elidibus is ALSO largely stripped of the person he once was. The nature of his existence (on his world(s)) was that of a being who would be shaped by the prayers and hopes he had answered. He is well aware of what he has become and how much he has lost both memory-wise and emotionally. While he is a diplomat, he is still very much aware of his existence as a Whole Being and has watched mortals bumble around in countless, repetitive loops. There are few he sees as worth much consideration and virtually none have risen above regard as more than tool or pawn or naive, ignorant creature in his mind.

He goes around calling himself Ardbert. This is the body he... ahem, 'borrowed' not long before he was brought to Aefenglom and the one he is currently stuck in. So there IS really an Ardbert in FFXIV canon, this is a separate person entirely and a complex kettle of fish. In Aefenglom, Elidibus does not act very much like the real Ardbert, but there are few who could point that out anyway.

As for acting like a good person (Warrior of Light, MC Protagonist Hero of Final Fantasy Games) well. He invented the concept. Literally. (as per FFXIV canon). He can definitely play the part well.

What is your character currently up to? In the aftermath of observing the events of the Evergreen Circle from the sidelines, Elidibus is compiling the information he obtained (including how the brainwashing spells worked even if he cannot pull them off himself yet) and is in his second... and a half month in Aefenglom in general. His focus has been on studying how to use enchantment magics to mimic fighting styles from back home. He teaches at the orphanage many Mirrorbound volunteer at (having one of the paying jobs because of this) and he is often seen in the Western Residental District, having become something of a fixture there. While he is a Witch, he has favor amongst the displaced Monster population and poorer residents thanks to frequent assistance and spending time protecting and patrolling the area during the wave of kidnappings.

It is important to be aware that other than a few specific people, everyone would know of the man as Ardbert.

Plans for the month: Elidibus will be continuing to study this world's form of magic. He also frequently seeks information of the movements of powers in the city. He is often people watching, studying various languages (Mirrorbound or native) and a presence as 'Ardbert' who seems a generally friendly man in his early twenties. He is often setting things in motion meant to give great gain..... for people who have the perspective of an immortal, anyway. Sometimes even something more realistic for mortals! It would be difficult, though not necessarily impossible, to discern it, particularly on the shorter term scale. Please feel free to discuss!

Types of CR wanted: Positive, negative. Quasi friendships (something that could become actual friendships over time!), potential pawns. Kind of dorky and awkward situations that Elidibus might get stuck dealing with. Examples are like: Ignis and Elidibus potentially bonding over cuisine dissection! Elidibus teaching Sora to play the piano. Geralt having to deal with this damn 'do-gooder' that keeps showing up in his life. Meeting other ancient beings!

Any types of CR or situations you'd rather avoid?: Not really any I want to avoid. Some things just can't happen without some setup. Others I would prefer some discussion beforehand. Such as death or extreme tragedy or the like. Please feel free to discuss! I'm always open to chat ideas! (I also prefer direct queries rather than IC hints if there's something really specific so we can all have fun.)

Romance is just not in the cards however. A rock is more likely to be attracted to anyone than Elidibus because of the way he is and how he views the world and general Ascian elitism. This doesn't mean it can't be brought up or anything just please know going in that the wild indifference and any shutdown that happens is for purely IC reasons.


Other: I love CR! In cast, out of cast, potential future app....cast. Also love talking about ideas and finding if we can figure out ways to make them work! Communication is always a plus! Speed of tags is fluid! (Though I will often work to move a story forward so I'm not 'stuck' if a scene is a bit slow. Just know that doesn't mean the scene can't be played out!)
