HANDWAVED CR AND MINGLE MEME
Has your character been here for a while now? Are you tired of meeting characters for the first time even though they've been actually sharing a class and/or work space for a month now? Well, here is the solution for you! The Handwaved CR Meme! Instead of stressing out trying to thread with every character you would reasonably encounter right off the bat, here is an opportunity to OOCly discuss and establish casual meetings and connections that have already happened but never had the time or need to be threaded out.

This is best used for things like characters sharing a class in the Coven, or working in the same location, or pursuing the same quests. Or maybe even being roomates! Anything where characters have been occupying the same space for the last while, but haven't had the opportunity to thread it out yet. Get those first building blocks of CR out of the way, and prepare yourself for more intense threading later.

THE RULES:

I'm going to start off by posting some different subject headers, centered around common activities or locations I can think of. Beneath these headers, you can go ahead and post about what your character is generally doing there and the impression they may give off.
Then, other people react! Reply to people who have posted with how your character would generally engage with their presence, and establish some nice, casual CR. Are you that loudmouth that won't stop talking over people in Evocation class? This is where people can tell you how you make them feel!
Post your own subject headers! I'm just putting up what comes to mind, but if you have other subjects you'd like to mingle over, go ahead and make them a reality.
These don't necessarily have to be first meetings, it can also be used to flesh out CR you've established elsewhere.

Threaded | Top-Level Comments Only

For witches (or tag along monsters) that have been learning magic with the coven. Specify classes, behaviours, routines, success with their studies, and whatever else their classmates might become familiar with.

Do you have a job? If so, tell us about what hours you work, your disposition with your coworkers or customers, or anything else people might see you doing while working around the city.

Been doing quests? Give us a run down of what quests your character has been doing, and how they behave while doing them. Would they be accepting help from others doing the same thing? Have they been giving people pointers during flower arrangement classes? Let us know!

Now that we're all sharing a neighbourhood together, you've probably been seen around the Haven. Do you interact with your neighbours at all? Have you done something terrible to your property? Is you lawn an eyesore? So you stay up late making noise that everyone living around you can hear? Establish some neighbourhood friends or enemies.

Are YOU making a scene? This one is pretty general, but basically if your character has been doing anything worrying, obnoxious, or just highly visible in public places, and you want to make it known, tell everyone about it here. People can observe and have opinions about you. Or maybe they will even try to interfere.

Greyjay is working hard in this job. He's not terrible to work with, so that's good, and he's clearly got some experience with the job. He can slice, dice, julienne, and mince! (And bottle, brew, stopper, etc.) With that said, he is very upfront with the fact that he's doing this for as long as it takes to get his footing the new world, and then he's heading out.

He's a Professional, but will gladly chat a bit while working. Any questions your character might ask will get a very (sometimes unpleasantly) honest answer.

...and he's good at making poisons. You know, for reasons. (Mostly for pest control. He's pretty sure the local shop doesn't specialize in murder.)

Since later March, Steven has been busking for money by playing his ukulele and singing anywhere it seems appropriate. This is apparently how he is making money, because he actually does it a lot, and he's been working through old and new material to try to gauge what the Aefenglom audience likes best.

His voice is actually pretty nice and he's really good at playing, writing, and improving music. He will potentially do requests if they are things he can remember from Earth, or if it's general enough that he can make something up.

Ultimately he's pretty chipper and open to talking to anyone who engaged him while he's working. Both because he's working for tips and also because he's just like that. He's not making great money yet, but he's trying.

Maria's been here, trying to get back up to where she was sort of at before! Specialties include Evocation (specifically fire), Enchantment (more fire, on her sword), and she's been working on teleportation under universal spells to try to get her Quickening ability back, or some version of it. She's a pretty quick study, so I imagine she's gaining traction pretty quickly with all of it. It's probably notable to her classmates though that she's not doing much with healing or support skills - her focus has mostly been on things that can be used to... hurt... other things.

She'll get into other (offensive) spells eventually, and might start experimenting with imbuing the spells with blood to make them more powerful.

Hello Music Buddy! Greyjay is also a big fan of busking. He can play an oud pretty well, although he doesn't have a great voice.

He's got a good repertoire of renaissance style songs, ballads, etc. and would be happy to team up every so often. He's got a regular day-job, so he most certainly won't be doing this for his main source of income, but it's a good enough way to get a drink or two.

The first group of arrivals is more than welcome to remember Lady Maria as the one that was about to draw her sword and run down Mhairi with it like five minutes after they arrived because she has kind of a visceral reaction to werewolves. She has yet to posture or threaten Mhairi since then, but anyone can notice she doesn't particularly seem very comfortable around Monsters in general. RIP because she lives with three of them.

Also just recently, she was fighting the Leviathan in the nightmare, and got splattered by it half a dozen or more times (however many times y'all wanna say) in an attempt to kill it to bring an end to the nightmare, because she was in Bloodborne mode, and how Bloodborne works with dreams and nightmares and giant creatures that cause them.

Also she's like 6'6"+ and has one of the most intimidating presences of anyone here, so she tends to draw a little attention wherever she goes. Especially since she's not entirely comfortable with the Monsters still.

And just because Maria isn't entirely a weirdo violent serial killer...

She's started a sunflower garden in the garden of her house! And some other plants, but she'll have a huge sunflower patch before long, and might expand it out as much as possible.

Also, she'll be buying a horse soon. Why yes, it will be a blood bay horse.

Toby commutes in regularly and is a frequent presence in the back of classrooms, generally quiet and out of the way. She's grown a couple inches since arriving. Because of how her hands are built she struggles to use a normal pen, instead she has a transmuted object that sort of resembles a potato with a nib, and writes frequent notes in a difficult-to-comprehend shorthand.

She's smart and makes reasonable headway. Toby's biggest areas of study are support class based - abjuration, enchantment - with a good side of transmutation and a passing interest in divination, at least of the "speak to the nonverbal" variety, but she's also trying to pick up teleportation and has done at least intro to conjuration.

Toby's very willing to use her own blood in spells - it helps having native healing abilities and a high pain tolerance - and commonly puts enchantments on her blades.

This is the only class of magic Aymeric is practicing, and he practices the absolute hell out of it every day. Since he's focusing on barriers and healing, he's not shy about asking for help: he may ask people to hit him + targets with stuff, low-level magic or otherwise, and he's very willing to help other people in the same way (probably with Something In Place Of A Sword, since he has no offensive magic).

As for healing, he's been stalking around the grounds looking for practice sessions gone awry like some kind of well-meaning vulture.

He's very obviously an elf, if it's worth noting: super tall, long pointy ears. He's friendly, but straightforward, especially when it comes to practice.

Elliot arrived this month and since then has been a regular presence in class since learning magic is the best way to not die. He's strongest at Evocation (specifically water and light spells), Enchantment, and basically anything that counts as a healing spell. He struggles more with things like Alchemy, Transmutation and Illusion.

His channeling tool of choice is a metal staff that came with him when he arrived. It's got a more manufactured look than anything you'd find in the city. He's currently working on enchanting it so it'll shoot magic bubbles as a projectile weapon. It's deadlier than it sounds, promise.

All in all, Elliot is a friendly student! He's happy to talk to other people in the class and study with them. Also he's very modest and tends to undermine his own accomplishments. He's got a bit of an insane workload since he's taking all the classes at once plus working on his music stuff-- but he is pretty used to it. I wouldn't say he's top of the class unless the lessons are somehow music-oriented- but he's a strong contender.

Those from the first group of arrivals may have noticed Lex looking Super Ill when they arrived and being hustled off to the infirmary fairly quickly! They also may have spotted the dog with her the entire time.

Entrapta isn't a witch but boy does she love learning so she's definitely here some of the time!

She's more an intermittent lurker than regular attendant and doesn't really consistently attend any specific classes so much as she just sticks her head in to whatever she thinks sounds interesting that day, but she does usually ask a lot of questions, of both the tutors and the people learning to do magic. Obviously she can't do any herself, but she's VERY interested in other people's progress! It is a bit offputting!

People have probably seen Lex dragging pieces of scrap home to the house she shares with Steven and Peridot, fiddling with the locks, and chasing the menagerie that the three of them have around in the courtyard for playtime. They have also probably heard her occasional bouts of target practice (let her tell you about GUNS) during the day (not at night, she is not that big of a jerk).

I've been informed that the kind of experiments Entrapta is doing in the loft of the house she is currently sharing with Solas are the kind that result in explosions, and Entrapta is as likely to be doing them at 3am as she is to be doing them at 3pm, so if that is the kind of thing your character would knock on the door to complain about then LET'S CHAT

Lex has made sure that every day is Take Your Dog To Work Day. She's getting more chimera features now, so if anyone would have liked to have stepped in to try and Help her against any bias customers may have had, that would be fun! (They may have also stopped in to try and help the biased customer... either via agreeing with the bias or because Lex doesn't go anywhere unarmed.)

Lex has been to All Of Them and has been the person willing to try every single edible flower, but usually says they don't taste "that bad" even when other people think they taste like butts.

During the dream Steven probably sees her going after the Leviathan for the umpteenth time and is like "hey don't do that" but then she dies and he's like "oh."

Look, a pyrrhic victory is still a victory, especially since she can't lose a war of attrition since she can't die!

Except she doesn't win anything, sorry Steven, you shouldn't have to see her splat like that.

Toby attracts less attention than she would in other settings because she's easily taken to be a fullform Dragon with no wings and weird flat, edged horn/spikes. That's not no attention, especially since when it's dark she enchants her blades to glow so she can see.

There's almost no vegetation inside the Wall, and Toby eats bark, so even if she was comfortable in an urban environment she'd have to go out regularly. She lives in various trees in the Outer City and commutes in on a regular basis.

She accidentally conjured a small apple tree on a weedy margin during the full moon.

As far as chill quests go, Maria's been doing the flower shop ones, just because she actually likes gardening; it's helping her with her sunflower garden as well. She has a quiet sort of passion for it.

Other than that, she has been found challenging a suit of armor, spelunking in a cave, gathering some materials in the Wilde, and otherwise, going for all the more dangerous Quests. She will continue to do as such into the future, so if anyone wants to come with her to fight Cwyld or venture into the most dangerous, dark places of the world, she's your lady.

She always accepts help, honestly, she's rather nice to fight alongside considering she has a lot of violent energy and that can be used to great effect.

Steven would actually love to learn some of that style of music from him! Most of what he knows is modern rock and pop so he's currently practicing trying some stylings closer to what the locals like. Some Renaissance style music would be mostly new to him when it comes to performances so he'd love to try it out. He's a quick study with music which helps.
