CR & PLOTTING: NOVEMBER

CR & PLOTTING: NOVEMBER

September and October saw the return of Morgana Drummond, the tyrannical former ruler of Dorchacht, who interrupted their independence festival and laid a spell of enchanted sleep upon the entire city. Thanks to Mirrorbound and their peculiar penchant for dreamwalking, the citizens were woken, and the current leaders of Dorchacht were angry. Both Covens led a fight through twisted, infected Wilde to where she chose to make her last stand, and during a hard battle, The Dragon, her former enslaved Bonded, was the one to kill Drummond and end her for good.

Mirrorbound largely sided with Dorchacht's Coven in the disagreement on how to handle Morgana, and so some tensions remain between Aefenglom's Coven and Dorchacht's. However, the former Black City continues to welcome Mirrorbound, grateful for their assistance in ending a nightmare that went on too long. The citizens of both cities, collectively, feel as if they can breathe easier now, and things can start to get back to normal.

The Masquerade

Thanks to Louis ([personal profile] rightfoot) and his helpers, Noveuer's Masquerade Ball returns! It was the talk of the town last year, and is sure to be again, boasting many of the same attractions as last year and some new events to boot. Fliers and invitations are passed out in the days leading up to it, promising a glitzy evening to mingle, dance, and drink, and perhaps even meet a new friend or Bondmate. Others advertise the silent auction for various enchanted items that will be had. Formal attire is encouraged, the fancier the better. Most of the tailor shops in town are eager for Mirrorbound business, and are actively advertising their formalwear in the lead up to the event on the 7th.

A grand ballroom complete with gardens and outdoor fountain is set aside for the affair, taking place on November 7th. Like last year, at the door, enchanted masks will be handed out, though wearing them is optional. The enchantment will allow for total anonymity; while wearing one, other characters will not be able to see past it or recall any of the mask-wearer's distinctive features (including horns, wings, scales, etc.), only their attire, or their mask design itself. Memories of encounters with mask-wearing individuals will be a little warm and hazy on the wearer's identity.

Food, drink, and softly enchanted music will set a pleasant mood for a wonderful evening of mingling and dancing. Gaming tables including cards and pool will be set up throughout the venue, offering quieter places to have fun in smaller, more casual groups. There will be a photobooth available for use to ensure you can take a physical memory of the night home with you. Then, the silent auction offers an opportunity to nab something cool and enchanted for yourself, so even those who aren't into the partying might find reason to get dressed up and show up.

At the end of the night, characters will be invited to don glowing trinkets, jewelry, or accessories and get a little wild during the Aefenglom equivalent of a rave. Said trinkets will continue to glow for about a month after the party, and can be taken home as a memento, or offered to a potential Bondmate as a gift!

So don your finery, have fun, and dance the night away, Mirrorbound!

Nothing to Be Drone About It

It's less of a surprise for the night cleaner at the Looking Glass House this year, when a variety of items or pets are thrust through the mirrors all at once. On Noveuer 15, at 3 am, it happens about the same as it did last year - and this time his reaction is just a heavy sigh as he relegates himself to a long night tidying other people's junk and being attacked by other people's companion creatures. He just hopes there aren't any bees this year.

Since there was quite a massive mix-up last year, Sowilo is not called back for another year of item dispensing duty, and it falls instead on a young Witch named Emmelie, who hopes to prove herself to the Coven as a capable and talented wrangler for Mirrorbound duty! She can handle this much easier through the wonders of magitech, she thinks, and pulls out her latest invention. They look like gently curved brass plates with three sets of mechanical arms on the sides, a bit like upside-down metal beetles, and they're all enchanted to grip things, release things, and to fly to specific destinations. She plans to use her patented "flying saucers" to deliver the items across the city by matching magical signatures from item to Mirrorbound! No confusion, and no crowds at the Looking Glass House is bound to be a boon!

Unfortunately, her flying saucers could use some work. Their flight paths aren't... exactly straight or efficient, often winding throughout the city or trying to go through solid obstacles. Like walls. And people. They get stuck occasionally, but they just keep on trying to move. You may wind up having to chase one down or remove it from the neighbor's roof in order to retrieve your item. The magical-signature-matching may also need some work, as you might have a flying saucer deposit something at your door that isn't yours! Emmelie will be scrambling to fix the problem before Miss Nessie finds out she bungled it, so please just help her get it sorted, be a friend, she's trying so hard!

That's right folks - since the Masquerade returned for another year, we figured we'd bring back the item regain mini-event from last November as well! On the night of the 15th, each character will optionally have one regain from home come through their mirror into the Looking Glass House. This can be a sentimental or personal object, something mundane like clothing or food/ingredients in their home style, plants or seeds from their home world, a treasured weapon, or even a pet/familiar! There are only a few rules to note:

Item must belong to your character, with some exceptions. Generic items with no stated owner are fine, as are items that belong to a group your character is part of. It may not explicitly belong to another individual, for example Aerith cannot regain Cloud's sword.
Items must be reasonably sized, meaning a regular human with no enhancements could feasibly pick it up. This applies to pets/familiars as well. Items or pets may be shrunk down if the thing you had in mind doesn't quite fit the restriction.
Items and pets follow the same rules as inventory items upon arrival. Meaning, anything magical will need to be re-enchanted, anything technological will need to be converted to magitech, and pets with magic abilities will be nerfed.
Items can be from any canon point, past, present or future.
One per character. If multiple small items can reasonably be called a set, they will count as one item - for example, you could have a box of books rather than just a single book, or a swarm of bees rather than a single bee. A trunk of mundane clothing is fine rather than limiting yourself to a single t-shirt, etc. We just ask you be reasonable.
If you don't want a regain for your character, that's fine too. The mirrors work in mysterious ways.

Feel free to plot your own mix-ups and shenanigans, but unless otherwise plotted, all items will find their way to their rightful owners by the end of the month!

Hahaha, what are masquerades for if not showing up other people? Either way, I look forward to it!
