Bond-Club Meme

In a book club, you get together, try out a book you might not normally try, and then discuss. Well, get ready for Bond Club!

Here’s the premise- characters in the market for a bond can come, meet up with others who are also looking for a bond, and if they hit it off, they give it a try. Take a temp-bond potion for a day and see if things click. If they do, they can give it a try in the game proper (or collectively decide to make the meme thread game canon).

Having trouble getting started? You can also post in the Randomize Me section to have your character paired up with another Mirrorbound. It’s truly a way to try out a bond you might not have otherwise considered.

Randomization will be done by Lark in batches of 6-10 (depending on the demand). If you want another random bond, you can reply to the randomizer again and be matched in the next batch if space allows.

About Me: A cat-shaped ancient being who is not actually a cat, but don't ask him too much about what he is because he won't tell you. Snarky, that horrible kind of clever that makes him know he's better than most people, will manipulate people to be fed and given a warm spot to nap in.
What I’m Looking For: Mogget is looking for a purely business arrangement Bond.
Bond Type: Monster.
Deal-Breakers: Don't expect him to be all snuggly with you.

[Hector's immediately intrigued. He's already vastly prefers the company of animals to most people.]

What would you want out of a bond?

I have no desire to explode due to an overabundance of magic. It's really that simple.

[He isn't going to answer the first question, because... well, obviously.]

I would expect a cat to have much higher standards. But I get it. I'm in no rush to descend into madness from lack of bonding.

[On the one hand, Hector's in the market for something straightforward and business-like...but on the other, he does want to make sure it's mutually beneficial.]

Would you be bothered by the presence of a dog when we have need to meet up?

I have high standards. My first concern is not exploding. It doesn't do to display all of ones cards immediately.

[He wants someone as to-the-point as he is. After that, he can start investigating whether or not he actually wants to be around them at all.

A dog, though... egh.]

I would prefer you left the dog elsewhere. If it must be present, at least ensure its good behaviour. I've already been chased up a wall by barking morons too many times during my short time here.

Cezar is very well-behaved.

[He's a good boy even though Hector can't use their necromatic connection to control him anymore. Not that he did much of that in the past. Pets, he was content to let do as they willed.]

But so long as he isn't alone for an extended period of time, I could leave him home.

[Hector's been in the city for months, but has yet to form a permanent bond. He's not sure how often and for how long bonded pairs meet, but he's assuming it would be less frequent for a purely business arrangement like this.]

Hmm.

['Well-behaved' when it comes to dogs is really a low bar as far as Mogget is concerned. He exhibits far more feline traits than he would casually admit, and one of them happens to be an intense dislike of nasty, stinky canine creatures.]

Bring him. I'm open to seeing how he behaves.

[Call it a gesture of good will on Mogget's part.]

Alright. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by him.

[Hector's absolutely bias, so don't expect objectivity here.]

I can go get him right now if you'd like.

[... sigh.]

If you must. I suggest keeping a distance.

[As Mogget cannot guarantee he will not scratch if the dog becomes bothersome.]

[Hector nods, and rushes off to fetch the dog. If it's a dealbreaker, they might as well established before they go any further.

He returns with a little black pug, with one blue eye and one eye missing, covered with a large scar. His front leg is similarly marked with scars, but the old injuries don't seem to bother the animal. He gives an excited little yip at the sight of the cat, and he dances around Hector's feet, curly tail wagging.

A concession to Mogget's concerns, Hector actually leashes the dog, a precaution he usually forgoes.]

This is Cezar. He's quite harmless.

[Dumb and sweet, but harmless.]

[It is admittedly a smaller dog than he expected to see, given Hector's overall demeanour. Exciteable, but not entirely intolerable.]

It isn't the harm a dog might do that bothers me.

[It's just... he's a cat.]

I dislike being chased.

Huh.

[Hector hadn't really thought about that aspect. Cezar isn't much of a chaser, with his tiny stump legs, one that had been bone until the Mirror had healed it.]

Hmmm, he's good about listening to commands. Try telling him to sit, and we'll see if he'll listen to a cat.

Hmm.

[Now, there's something very appealing about a dog actually obeying his commands. Since Cezar is leashed, Mogget walks as close as he dares and sits down, curling his tail around his paws.]

Cezar, sit.

[Cezar, who is a very good dog, sits, then turns his head to Hector for praise. He doesn't seem to realize that the command came from the cat, but he knows the word, and what is expected from him when he hears it.]

Good boy. [Hector murmurs. Cezar's little curl of a tail wags.]

... Interesting.

[Admittedly, Mogget has never tried that before. He approaches the dog curiously, stretching out his body to lean his nose forward for a delicate sniff.]

Perhaps not all dogs are idiots, after all.

[Oh, Mogget, hope you don't mind getting licked on the nose, because that is what happens to anything, man or creature, that puts its face within range of Cezar's tongue. It's the one thing Hector hadn't been able to train out of him (though, admittedly, he hasn't tried very hard).

Hector sighs and scoops the dog up. Best not to annoy Mogget too much, what with their prospective alliance in the balance.]

Sorry. He's very friendly.

[Mogget does not appreciate the attempts to lick him on the nose, and it's only lucky he saw it coming and managed to bounce back out of the way enough to only get the slightest flick of the dog's tongue against his nose.

Still, he does not like that.]

So he is.

[But Mogget is not being chased, and he views that as something of a plus.]

But... acceptable.

["Acceptable"? Good, then it's not a deal-breaker. So that's something. Hector nods down at the cat.]

Alright, then. I can go put him away. If you can suffer his presence, then I think we can truly consider this bond.

I'm sure I can tolerate it, as long as he doesn't try to lick me again.

[Because... yuck.]

And as I have a vested interest in not exploding, I'm happy to give it consideration also.

About Me: Used to be a princess, now I work as a diplomat and voice of reason in a world without much of it.
What I’m Looking For: Any kind of Bond, really, but I'm definitely interested in being useful and helpful, so if there's Witches who don't have a Monster, I'd love to be useful!
Bond Type: Witch, primarily.
Deal-Breakers: I've been married once, I don't particularly want to do it officially again, but I'm not above getting to know each other and getting close! That said I'm even more happy just knowing that someone is safe.

About Me: Fuck it, basically everyone is aware already. I'm a former-Forge Master (you might call a necromancer, but it's more nuanced than that). I have been focusing on researching plant and animal life in this world, and am helping run an animal shelter.
What I’m Looking For: A mutually-beneficial business relationship. It would help if we have interests in common, but primarily, I need the stability a witch-bond will bring. I feel more comfortable with non-humans than humans, but given that everyone here is a witch or a monster, I can probably make do.

Deal-Breakers: A potential bondmate must love animals, and can't be a zealot.

How non-human would you prefer?

Any amount of non-human is a start. You don't have to look monstrous, but having the perspective of an outsider from humanity helps.

I see... In that case I can offer myself as a non-human witch.

Deal-Breakers: ...Someone whose dishonest and deliberately hurts people... I have a dog too, so you have to like him.

Really? A few people brought up at the Coven... My mind still goes blank occasionally. [Not dangerously feral, but small lapses where she didn't have control. ]

Um... What do you want to do? [Unsure?] Do you want your bonded to have certain skills? I can fight too...

[She's doing a 10/10 job of showing her good traits. ]

There's nothing you need to be able to do-- but it would be nice to have one more friend I can look out for and who can look out for me sometimes too.

Absolutely! That can work. Temp bond because neither of them would like to explode, thanks and work up from there.
