June Mirrorbound Council Post
Welcome to the Mirrorbound Council discussion post for the month of June! This is the space to discuss IC concerns from your characters that can be brought to Parliament by members of the Mirrorbound Council. Here are some quick facts!
• Membership in the Mirrorbound Council is open, so if your character is the type to get involved, you're more than welcome to sign up here.
• More information on the Council's history, current members, and motions can be found here.
• Each motion must be cosigned by 3 Council members.
• Each council member can only cosign 1 motion per month.
• As a result, there may be months where not all motions can be raised. In that case, motions will be brought to Parliament in the order of greatest IC support to least IC support.
• To suggest an IC motion, please post to the most appropriate heading below. Make sure to list the name of the character who would suggest it so they get credit!
• To support an IC motion, comment to the motion with either "+1" or some other indication of your character's support. There's no limit on how many motions each character can support, so be sure to check the whole post!
• All characters can suggest and support motions ICly — not just Council members! Consider this post an OOC representation of an open-forum style discussion open to all Mirrorbound. The goal is to get as many people involved as possible, both ICly and OOCly, so don't hesitate to chime in!
• The deadline to submit motions is June 15th. After submissions close, Council members will attach their names to motions and submit them to the mod team by June 25th.

Motion description: The Exarch is proposing a community garden sponsored by the city and maintained by its citizens. This garden can be partially ornamental (gorgeous flowers, a space for entertainment, walks, etc) and also have a section to grow food for the community. The Exarch believes this is beneficial for two reasons: 1), greenspace is relatively limited within the Bright Wall, and 2), after the events of the past few months a gesture of unity would do well for morale. The garden would be the focus of activities that promote better relations between Witches and Monsters, as well as natives and Mirrorbound, and could potentially open the door for other recreational-type areas around the city in the future-- none of which are in the scope of this specific motion, of course.
This motion would include the promise of a large event for mingling in said garden when it is completed, for Parliament and the others to enjoy.
For seeds, the Exarch has secured the assistance of the botanist he's been working for since his arrival, though of course many hands and volunteers from the community will be needed to make the vision a reality. Getting people involved is part of the benefit.
He has a few designs drafted for the space but is open to suggestions, both on the design and the motion itself.

I THINK the actual motion part of this is just requesting funding from Parliament for it; everything else (getting classroom space(s), vetting and hiring teachers, etc), the Council could handle for themselves as long as they've got a monetary set-aside.
ETA: Though some sort of formal support/recognition for all of it would potentially be a good idea as well? Lend them legitimacy and maybe get what Monster MPs there are as backers to support the effort/recommend people who would be good as teachers.

• why not an official artisan organization? - The Exarch is still interested in starting up a joint craftsmen coalition between Aefenglom and Dorchacht. Both cities could benefit from sharing knowledge, and they could cooperate on projects improving either one like rebuilding walls, installing new places to live/work, etc.
• newbie training program? - The Exarch has considered further streamlining the way new arrivals are greeted so that there is more onboarding for Monsters in particular and those without friends from home. This would be well in hand if we got more support for Myr's proposal, I think.
• on returning home - The Exarch would like a more tangible process surrounding the efforts to return Mirrorbound home, including regular progress reports and accountability-- and he wants Mirrorbound to help too!
In the scope of things I'm not sure how realistic any of these are, but they've been in my back pocket this whole time and I wanted to share in case someone's working on something similar. My other reason for sharing is that I plan on dropping this game after June due to work and some other RL things, so as much as I would like to see all of these through, it's just not feasible. Y'all have blanket permission to run wild if you like.

i am really sorry to see you'll be going though! i hope everything's all right or at least stabilizes soon. like i said these all definitely have really cool potential so they'll be brought to parliament for sure!

As for idea 3, ICly I've seen a lot about how the Coven is the only people we can trust but Not Really, so it just kinda made sense. The biggest issue I see is that it leans a lot on the mods to feed us stuff and typically we have to work for that, so it might be easier if someone who was already working with the Coven closely could do it.
Thank you so much though, and for organizing all of this each month. I super appreciate how on top of things you've been. RL is just crazy and it's not really letting up for me, so we'll see how i feel a couple months from now.
