Mmm--you'd have been right at home in Nevarra, much as I don't like the idea personally. But it would have gone better for you; necromancy's an obligation there.

So you're not one of the ordinary human colors? [Rude, Myr, but, well. He is helpless to stop the dumb question.]

Huh. Hadn't thought him for that kind of tease. [Is that disapproving? Maybe!!] Flirted.

Really? There's a place that embraces it? [Hector didn't think that was possible.]

It's...silvery. Like an old man might have, except it's been that way since my birth.

[It's not the most outrageous ever, but it had been enough to mark him as odd.

This disapproval, though. Whoops, he hadn't meant to get Asura into any trouble.]

I didn't seek him out either. It's fine. Nothing untoward happened.

More than embraces--the Mortalitasi may well run the entire country. It's part of everything they do. I'm surprised most places ban or despise it--it's disturbing and I fear it, personally, but it's licit magic as far as the Chantry's concerned.

[Maybe because on Thedas nobody's protesting, tormented soul is getting stuffed back in its own rotting body to suffer unlife, but that's a difference that's escaped Myr thus far.]

Huh--that sounds lovely. Striking, even, depending on your complexion.

Well, [it'd only be minor trouble; Myr's opinion of Asura is good enough that it would take a far more major disappointment,] so long as nothing untoward happened.

That...seems strange. There are a limit to how many necromancers a society can sustain. People only die so fast...unless they are being killed purposefully.

[Hector has no moral compunction about using his old skills, but he doesn't go around killing unless it's absolutely necessary.]

It's just hair. The color's strange, but it's not anything special.

[Hector's been around inhumanely attractive vampires for too long. Myr will have to get Everett or someone else to weigh in on how he looks.]

Just forget I said anything.

The Mortalitasi certainly have their usages in war; Nevarra's a conqueror when she can be. But they've got the whole Necropolis to maintain as well--thousands of corpses of their nobility and notables, going back Ages, all reanimated and given their own city to venerate them. [It's creepy and weird, is what it is, but it ain't blood magic.

He may very well ask Everett for a description, sometime.

Then a quiet, amused huff.
]

I'm not about to hassle him for it, never fear. Just being melodramatic over my idea of him as a suitable Bond partner for you failing. [wow, thanks, truth serum, lay his entire personality out like this.]
petcromancer: (off-balance)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-05 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Shit. Isn't the world bad enough with just the current living nobility? Who the fuck would want to keep the dead ones around?

[Which, if Hector was a little more self-aware, is what vampires are, but shhhh. He takes to new concepts very slowly.]

You're playing matchmaker now? I doubt Asura would need help finding a bond. He's very handsome, if you're not aware.
faithlikeaseed: (blind - :J)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-05 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Nevarrans, apparently. Though since they're all shut up in the Necropolis doing fuck-all they're leaps and bounds ahead of most nobility in my mind.

[Much less troublesome AND sexy than vampires. ]

I wasn't, but I'm hardly surprised; he's got the presence for it. D'you think only someone hideous and desperate would want to Bond with you? ...Because yes, I certainly am playing matchmaker.
petcromancer: (sunlight)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-05 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
No. They could be hideous or desperate. Desperation comes from a variety of sources, not just physical appearance.
faithlikeaseed: (blind - concern)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-05 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
Conceded. But the question remains: D'you think you're everyone's last choice for a Bond?
petcromancer: (sulk)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-05 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
... [fuck this compelled honestly, seriously.] ...yes.

[Look, he's not making this conclusion without evidence.]
faithlikeaseed: (blind - concern)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-05 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, lambkin.

[Myr would believe it; it's not like people spontaneously decide they're worthless for the fun of it.]

You're far from mine. You're certainly not Everett's.
petcromancer: (retrospection)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-06 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[If Myr says it, it's the truth, but Hector doesn't feel it. And if it is the truth, then it's worse, in a way. Because even though there are people who care about him here, he can't have them.]

But it doesn't matter. You both already have bonds.
faithlikeaseed: (blind - sad smile)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-22 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't mean we wouldn't move earth and Fade to get you your own. Or that Everett wouldn't take you on as his fourth the instant you asked.
petcromancer: (breakdown)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-23 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
...I want that so badly it hurts, but I can't ask it of him. It would put both of you at risk.
faithlikeaseed: (blind - concern)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-23 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Then I'd be the one to annul our Bond before any of us got hurt, because you deserve to know the way he feels when he thinks of you.
petcromancer: (sulk)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-23 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
No. He's happy the way things are now. It's illogical to put that at risk. He's told me how he feels. That will have to be enough.
faithlikeaseed: (blind - why is the world like this)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-23 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Will it be enough?
petcromancer: (retrospection)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-23 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
...I don't know. No one's ever loved me before. I don't know what I'm doing with any of this.

But it doesn't make sense that I should need anything else. I come from a world with no bonds, and people make do. So I'll figure it out.
faithlikeaseed: (blind - intent)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-23 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
No one--?

--We've a lot of lost time to make up for, then. And whether or not we've come from worlds where people don't have Bonds, we're in one that's reshaped us to need 'em.

So promise me you won't hold out on one until you go feral and we lose you, all because you don't think yourself worthy of one the way I did. [ah, this oversharing.]
petcromancer: (off-balance)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-24 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Why the hell would you think that?

[Myr is great. And Hector's focusing on that because he can't make any promises.]
faithlikeaseed: (blind - crushed)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-25 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Because, [oh wait oh shit abort abort abort--] I'm a liability who blinded himself...

[Pardon him he'll be putting his face in his hands and breathing deeply.]
petcromancer: (Shiver)

[personal profile] petcromancer 2020-06-26 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. So that's how it happened.

[He goes on, quickly.] You don't have to talk about it. We can talk about something else so you're not compelled. Bees. When did you first start keeping them?

[Because while Hector is wildly and recklessly curious, he's not, by nature, cruel. And it's obvious that Myr doesn't want to talk about it.]
