CR & PLOTTING: MARCH
Later, the Wilders formed an expedition group to venture out farther north than they have in the past - to set up what they now refer to as The Northern Outpost. The trip was fraught with dangers from Cwyld, uneasy spirits, creatures, and the natural dangers of the Wilde, but their efforts were not in vain. The Northern Outpost is a currently-bare bones set up with a teleporter waypoint to allow for easy travel there and back from a small outpost located just outside the Bright Wall; a good thing, since March brings the rains, and the rain makes the Silent Forest impassable, thanks to a species of tree whose sap, brought out by the moisture, is toxic whether it's infected or not. Going back to see if the leyline flushing worked will have to wait for another time, unless one wants to risk permanent blindness and respiratory problems, but there are still plenty of things going on that may catch Mirrorbound attention...
Three Places, Three Happenings
This month we check in around the known areas of Geardagas, and this event will last throughout the month.
In Aefenglom, the coming of spring means special classes at the Coven, all having to do with plants and gardening. With so many bringing back plants from the Wilde last month, it seems more appropriate than ever; the classes will last all month and cover a broad range of topics from identifying plants and fungi in the Wilde, how to transplant them, how to grow them by both magic and mundane means, and how to build a proper rooftop or balcony greenhouse, for those whose homes have the space. Potions classes will continue as regularly scheduled but will skew much more toward natural potion-making with the ingredients grown in the gardening classes. Meanwhile, out in the city, the natives prepare for the holiday of Eostre, taking place from the 21st to the 23rd, a celebration of warming weather and the fruits of a year's research and growth. Eostre is marked primarily by three things: parades, pies, and public drinking. And, of course, there will be music on every street corner, as music is a big part of the celebration. Rumor has it that this year, a particular exclusive concert hall is opening their doors to new performers in a grand, musical talent show - the stand-outs could be guaranteed some steady gigs in the future.
At The Northern Outpost, the work and exploration of the area continue. While the spot chosen only bears patchy and mild infections, they still want to keep it up to contain the problem before it has a chance to spread as thickly as in the Silent Forest. Early in the month, too, a group of eager Wilders will set out to explore the nearby ravine, and come across a historical discovery: a very old cave set into the cliff face that seems to have been inhabited once, with strange paintings on the walls and the litter of former residents scattered across the stone. Help will be needed making copies of the paintings and translating the writings, bound to be an arduous task that will last all month. If archaeology isn't your speed, though, they will also need help at the Settlement Ruins - all the activity seems to have attracted a wandering band of necromancers, who are disgracing the ruins and angering the lingering spirits with their lack of care for the dead. Even the ghosts who seemed to live their afterlives in sad, quiet peace have become enraged at the disrespect shown to their bodies and souls. Help will be needed to drive the necromancers away, settle the spirits, and perhaps even lay them all to rest for good.
In Dorchacht, March marks six months since the violent uprising that drove Morgana Drummond from her seat of power and freed the people. The Circle of Three and the citizens are planning a celebration to commemorate the occasion on the 16th, and the Mirrorbound, who do so much to help their city from day to day, are of course invited to join them. From sun-up to sun-down, there will be modest food, live music, and sports matches - something brand new to Dorchacht, gently lifted from Aefenglom to give their people a fun physical activity. Football (soccer), boxing, croquet, and rugby matches will be on-going through the light hours; while football and croquet are both mild enough for humans and Monsters to play together, lately, Monsters-only rugby is starting to dominate - it's a fast-paced, rough game with very few rules, but the ones who play, many of them former soldiers, seem to enjoy it greatly.
Unfortunately, not everyone is having a good time. With more lax regulations on those Witches and Monsters who still wish to go back to the way things were, troublemakers are given the opportunity to make trouble. They don't have the numbers for a full-scale rebellion, not like the one the rest of the city celebrates that day, but they can show their displeasure in a way that few will find acceptable... (As an OOC note, the troublemaking will happen after the sun goes down, so if you only want to participate in the lighter half of this mini-event, your character can return to Aefenglom before dark.)
