Super curious about the android thing was mostly Maria's first impression, but he also seemed like a nice dude.

Now he's... uh. A merrow. Which colors things a little unfavorably, but the rapport from before is enough to keep her talking to him, and he's still a good dude. Just don't drown anyone.

Maria abandoned the court lifestyle long ago, but sometimes it's nice to be reminded of the better parts of it. Also Zelda is quiet and unassuming.

And they definitely need to get some blades out sometime, but Maria doesn't know Zelda's handy with one yet.

Now: Apparently Maria likes her enough to contribute to the delinquency of a minor by buying her alcohol and getting her drunk. To be fair, Kaede is one of like three Monsters here Maria actually kind of likes and trusts. If no other way, she trusts Kaede to be Kaede.

she's curious about him! even from their short interaction, he's made enough of an impression for her to inquire more. the talks of death and the vagueness around that? more answers she needs to find.

the genuine conversation they're having is appreciative. while she does not like people mincing words with her, she doesn't feel like its out of caustic or problematic nature – it's aloof? distant? she can sympathize with that.

First: Tall guy who helped her get medical attention where Kaede was super resistant to the idea, incidentally saving her life or at least a lot of misery. She supposes she owes him.

Now: He keeps being friendly at her?? Kaede appreciates the attention but is a bit at a loss at how to deal with it. She's bad at most human things.

Also she didn't mind that bite, just ask first next time.

The kind of adult Rich actually wants to listen to. Honestly, seems like he puts up with Rich's nonsense quite pleasantly, which is definitely preferred. And the 6000-year-old thing is definitely still badass to him.
