whomthebelltolls: (Oh oh oh)

[Oof. Maria had always had her suspicions about the circumstances around it, but... to hear it hurts. She falls silent for a moment, staring off into the distance. She recalls the one time someone asked - if there was one person from your home you could bring to Aefenglom with the condition you would have to Bond with them, who would it be - and she'd answered Adeline without much hesitation.

Because of this. Because Adeline is going to the Research Hall, and it's going to be... a horrific end. A horrific end that she's already afraid of.

Wake. Up.

But she can't, and maybe she deserves this bit of torment.

I... wish I had more comforting words for you. The things that happen in that place are... unspeakably painful. You'll find yourself distorted and malformed after not long. If you're lucky, the sounds of the ocean and water will bring some comfort and revelation.

Most people though... they just suffer and then go mad. Some die. Most just endure their torment. The success rate is pitifully low.

[She sighs, and leans forward, resting her elbows on her knees and staring at her own hands as she clasps them there between her knees.]

Nothing good really comes of that place, just as nothing good really comes of being a Blood Saint.

[She looks upward, toward the sky.] I saw the end of Yharnam in a dream, once. It was a slow, inevitable rot. Not much different for anyone else, as it is for you. Sometimes I think I got out of it the easy way, even if the Nightmare was terrible in its own ways.
