Midmonth Mod Post: June

Hello, Aefenglom! Snow and Bella here with apologies - we're a day late on this one, whoops! But here's June's midmonth mod post, with a variety of updates and prospective changes, so let's get started!

First, as always, some reminders. They're pretty brief this month:
    • The event log will be going up around 3PM EST tomorrow! This will be the first part of a two-parter, and will focus on the full moon.
    • Applications are now on a bimonthly basis, to test run the viability of it for Aefenglom's foreseeable future, so apps are closed until July!
    •Our activity check remains on a monthly schedule, however, and will begin on June 24th. While we'll have the requirements on the activity check itself as a reminder, here they are right now so you can start figuring things out:
    10 comments minimum from you across two threads OR one network post/log made by you with at least 5 comments from you and a second, separate thread with at least 5 comments from you.
    In addition, players are allowed to take a strike if they have at least half of the necessary activity, and TDM threads are acceptable as long as they're from the last month's test drive - for June's AC, it would be May's TDM. Inbox threads and personal overflow threads also work - they just have to be from the current month!
    • The calendar has all these dates as always, so check it out!
Now then - onwards!

The Aefenglom Journal

Breaking news! As it turns out, the cave that rumor spoke of as being uninfected by the Cwyld was a little too good to be true. The Coven and Wilders guild alike have taken responsibility for those harmed in the exploration of the cave system, and hope that future information will be more reliable. Still, they thank those that came on the investigation and exploration profusely, and everyone will be rewarded for their efforts. The Coven does recommend that arrivals don't make another trip out there unattended, if they find that they might want to explore further, as the risks are greater than anticipated, but they do welcome the attempts if explorers are aware of the risks. After all, they could learn quite a bit from what lies within...

However, the city of Aefenglom herself is largely concerned with the upcoming celebration of Litha. The skies have been growing increasingly red in the mornings, after all, and the omen is one of the most ominous in all of Geardagas. At the start of the month they had started in pinkish hues that faded into the typical eventide-colored skies that the city is so known for long before noon, but now they're lasting well into the afternoon before fading away. Many natives fear that the skies of Litha itself will be scarlet throughout the celebrations. The most superstitious have tried to combat this in the traditional way, putting out candles and lanterns of non-red colors, but others still are looking to the new arrivals with more wariness, wondering if perhaps they were bad tidings, themselves.

They have little concern for the full moon, save for the typical ones, but because of the bad omen... well, it isn't wrong to say that tensions are a little high this month. Between one another, between man and beast, between native and new arrivals.

Everyone in Aefenglom is advised to contact the Coven if something amiss happens. After all, Miss Nessie and Mhairi have taken responsibility for the arrivals, and will do all that they can to ensure that they're taken care of. And that includes anyone that might not have heeded their warnings.

OOC Updates

    • We wanted to apologize for some delays in questions and investigations, as we do know that there has been some delay in getting those taken care of. But we'll be working to make sure that those get answered and addressed, and that the general game upkeep is shuffled around for better ease of updating and managing, especially since...
    We're officially looking to pick up helper mods! Stay tuned for the end of the post for further information, there.
    • Following on the tails of the Bestiary and Coven updates, we'll be addressing the Bonds entry specifically next. We hope to have this done by the end of the month at the latest, as we work to restructure everything for greater ease of reading and understanding, especially with the inquiry of having a directory of currently established Bonds. We have an idea of how to do that so that you, yourselves, can update it, but it won't be mandatory at all.
    • The character info posts are essentially done, and we'll get those up shortly with another announcement once they're fine tuned. In the meantime, please see our player-made Monster transformation timeline as brought to you by V!

Feedback & Mod Help

We won't be having a dedicated feedback post this go around, but instead would like to offer everyone the chance to give feedback here, if there's anything that you've noticed or would like to possibly seem implemented!

Talking Points:
    • Info posts that you'd like clarification for.
    • Quests. In general, what kind of quests would you like to see more of? How can we improve with these? What's working, and what isn't? We've made a few changes to it, and hope that the adjustments have helped!
    • Plot investigation feedback. We've gotten quite a few good investigations, and honestly it's been fantastic seeing what everyone does with their information.
    • General feelings on: the game, the timing of posts, etc. Especially once we get part 1 and part 2 of the event posts out, as we do know there were some concerns there.
    • There was some discussion regarding the tone of the game; if anyone would like to bring that forward, we would love to hear your thoughts on it, so that we can address them and ensure everything is covered on every front.
    • The Test Drive Meme and its setup, now that we've had a couple of them roll out.
    • And more! Tell us what's on your mind.
We honestly appreciate all kinds of comments, and we want to make Aefenglom a wonderful, fun, and comfortable game for everyone who joins. This post will remain unscreened, so if you'd like to take something to a more private venue, you can either PM us or comment here.

Now then! If you're interested in taking on a helper mod position, these are the specific roles we're looking to have filled:
    • List upkeep (Reserves, Drops; Taken and Player Contact both have data entry that generates code for ease of upkeep that mod Snow has been using, but they still need updating also!)
    • Activity Check processing
    • Application processing
    • Quest processing, specifically, which involves adding the characters that take on quests as well as helping mod Bella to answer questions players might have
    • Plot and FAQ help, where applicable, but all mods can help with this as a team!
    Discord Server moderators: monitoring the chat to ensure that everyone plays nicely
