July Midmonth

Midmonth Mod Post: July

Hello, Aefenglom! Here's your monthly midmonth mod post.

First, as always, some reminders:
The Intro Log is still right here and still going! We've put up an overflow right here since it just hit 5k. The next event log will go up on the 18th.
Créia, the Guardian of the Wilde, has awoken. There's no such thing as a late tag, so please feel free to interact with her while you guaranteedly can! As a note, this is over-arching plot-related, so taking a peek in would be worth the while anyway.
    • Our activity check also begins on July 25th! While we'll have the requirements on the activity check itself as a reminder, here they are right now so you can start figuring things out (Please read: We have made some minor clarifications and one change!):
    PROOF 1:
    * A tag-out to someone else's post, top level, or inbox.

    PROOF 2:
    * Your own post, top level, or a thread in your own inbox, OR
    * A tag-out to someone else's post, top level, or inbox.

    - Comments from you on both proofs should add up to at least 10.
    - Comments must be from the current month to count.
    - One proof may be from a thread begun in the month previous, but only comments from the current month on it count toward your AC.
    - Both proofs cannot be with the same character.
    - Two proofs with cast/franchise-mates is allowed but if it becomes a pattern (2+ months in a row), you will be asked to provide a thread with a non-castmate.
In addition, players are allowed to take a strike if they have at least half of the necessary activity, ie. one proof with a minimum of 5 comments or two proofs that add up to less than 10 comments.
    • The calendar has all these dates as always, so check it out!
Now then - onwards!

The Aefenglom Journal

It has been an exciting couple of months, bringing strange new tales to Aefenglom. New Mirrorbound flooded the city at the beginning of the month, leaving Parliament concerned if this is going to be a trend, and if they will need to make different preparations.

As well, we have it on good authority that a city was discovered Underground, a warrior race run by Monsters. No one in Aefenglom knew of their existence until the Mirrorbound were called to visit. According to sources, the delegates selected to speak to this Matriarch herself have arranged for further contact with the Underground, and their city will remain open to the Mirrorbound, and, we hope, our own Coven and members of Parliament in the near future.

In other exciting news, a dragon has awoken and visited Aefenglom just outside her doors! We've been told that the creature's name in question is Créia, that she calls herself the Guardian of the Wilde –– and, more pressingly, she needs the help of all to reunite her and her kin. Though her initial meeting seemed more focused on our Mirrorbound friends, we've been able to gather some key points of interest from that meeting as well as her later meeting with our dear Miss Nerissa Bell and her Bonded, Miss Mhairi.

• Créia's kin are called Aer and Uisce, and are dragons just like her! They both have their own preferred environments, though there is no guarantee that they have remained where they are nor if they have stayed in the forms she last remembered them as. One was to the north of us, while the other was a known wanderer.
• She is fascinated by how magitech works, but does not seem fond of the lack of "give" it offers; while we haven't a clue what this refers to, she seems to assume we do and certainly we are not one to correct a dragon larger than most of our houses.
• According to Miss Bell, Créia is a lovely old dragon from whom we could learn greatly! Reportedly, she mentioned the dragon whom resides in our sister city and dear ally Dorchacht as well, thought Créia seemed to have little urgency to visit. "I shall visit should I find mine path winding that way," she claimed, and so the matter was settled.
• According to Miss Mhairi, Créia is strong for a being who battled the Cwyld and survived only by apparently turning herself to stone in an effort to keep her mind. While there is much to learn from here, and she finds the dragon good company, Miss Mhairi asks we be mindful of Créia, as her allegiance may be more to the world than to those living among it.
• Wilders assisting at the Outpost near to her dwelling spoke of her initial majesty, though declined to speak on the questions posed by the Mirrorbound who brought her out of petrification.
• Créia does not seem fond of cities, nor of general large settlements, but travels the land's Leylines; if anyone wishes to find her again, we'd guess that would be their best bet!

OOC Updates

    • After reading your feedback last month, we have made an update to the AC, which will be added everywhere necessary. These are not major changes, but clarifications on requirements that may not have been as obvious as we have thought and caused confusion in the past. If it helps make things clearer, we also have a flowchart here.
    • The main change made to AC is that we will allow one thread from the previous month as long as it has enough comments on it from the current month. So, a thread from June with 5 comments made in July could be used as a July AC proof. The other thread still needs to have been started in the current month. This is not to make AC easier or harder, but to address a pacing and back-tagging issue.
    • We had a question about Test Drive Memes going forward. TDMs will no longer be regularly bi-monthly, but will still occur whenever we would be having a dream event anyway. When it happens, it will be announced on plurk like always, and will be posted to the OOC comm to allow prospective characters to tag in. So, TDM frequency will be dependent on plot, until we're much closer to having room to process new applications.

Feedback

We're here again to offer everyone the chance to give some feedback, if there's anything that you've noticed or would like to possibly seem implemented!

Talking Points:
    • Info posts that you'd like clarification for.
    • Quests. In general, what kind of quests would you like to see more of? How can we improve with these? What's working, and what isn't?
    • Plot investigation feedback. We've gotten quite a few good investigations, and honestly it's been fantastic seeing what everyone does with their information.
    • Events. What type of ones would you like to see, what ones are working, what aren't?
    • General feelings on: the game, the timing of posts, how events and such are set up, etc.
    • And more! Tell us what's on your mind.
We honestly appreciate all kinds of comments, and we want to make Aefenglom a wonderful, fun, and comfortable game for everyone who joins. This post will remain unscreened, so if you'd like to take something to a more private venue, you can either PM us or comment here.

A thought I've had about the CR/ooc plotting posts is that I'd like to get a little more starting info for those to assist in planning with other people. Some ideas of what will appear in the log, details of creatures or basic minor stuff to kick things off. It doesn't have to be deep or involved, but I have found that when trying to plan out what I will do on the ooc stage before the log drops I can't really give the offers I want to or handle starting stuff out because we just don't know how it will look.

Not that I want big, major spoilers or a definitive Plot or anything like that, but some concrete starter details would really help to kick stuff off and then once the log adds deeper detail it would be easier to adjust that starting idea or make up new things with the information given.

this would be extremely helpful for plotting!
