[Peridot isn't really sure what it means either! Will admitting these feelings change how they interact with one another? Does it really actually mean anything other than being an expression of deep emotional attachment? Does it NEED to mean something else?
In the past, when she has thought about admitting this thing to Lapis, the contemplation has always involved a lot of questioning the nature of her own wants and motivations. Peridot considers herself a connoisseur of fictional pairings, but that's generally in the context of humans and/or various other organic fantasy races. She and Lapis... They're both. Rocks? Not that gems are incapable of love, just, the two of them are not exactly expertly socialized individuals, even now. Peridot has spent the vast majority of her life as an under-socialized tech gremlin, and Lapis spent 5000 years embedded in a mirror. Ruby and Sapphire exist as an example, but Peridot is pretty positive she doesn't want anything like that. All she really wants is to be near Lapis as much as possible, and to be able to say they have some kind of relationship that goes beyond regular friendship.
...Her dragon instincts might be making her crave something a bit beyond that, too, but she's refusing to give those desires much examination at the moment. Shit's complicated enough already.]
Y-- Yes! [She's beaming again; if she were a turnskin, her tail would be wagging off her butt.] You're sure you still want to? It wouldn't be redundant to your current affiliation with the Lorenz human?
