Lan Xichen is ready enough to at least try to make something of his new life in Aefenglom. If Jin Guangyao really shows up the way he thinks he will, then he can't do any less but try to help his younger brother escape from the resentment and discord of their previous lives. And while he's learned not to be so blindly trusting, he still can't just walk away from someone he swore to stand by, especially when Jin Guangyao has already died once for his crimes.

"I'll wait for you." And he will. Lan Xichen tells himself that this time he'll do things better. He'll ask more questions and pay more attention to the needs of those around him, even if they don't want to volunteer them. They won't repeat the past mistakes.
